With all the free antivirus programs available is there really a need to pay money for one?

    • -2

      Nope. None at all.

They must think that I'm cheap if they thought that they could pay me $16 to install that on my computer

    Oh wait…

  • the worst antivirus you can buy from the worst online store you can buy from.
    nobody uses norton by choice
it's so slow even corporate users get a different version

    • -2

Clearly you haven't used the 2011 version… yes, it was rubbish up until about 2009. No, it is not rubbish any more.

      • +2

Compared to Microsoft's own completely free no-catches light-weight non-intrusive Security Essentials software, no, it's still rubbish.

  • new version is quite fast and low on resources

  • Yes by all accounts it has improved a lot from a couple of years ago. Detection rates are very good too.

I dont like Norton, but I have to say this is a very good deal indeed

    OEM Version?

Skycomp's got it on sale for $15.

  • +3

I wouldn't install this bloatware if I was paid $15.95. Why would you even pay for this when a much better product - Microsoft Security Essentials is free?!

  • +2

It's OEM, legally it shouldn't be even be sold..

    • +1

      Well it does say:

      "Note condition:
this is an OEM product, must be sold for system builders or together with our system package"

But if you can purchase it anyway without anything else it's probably there for show to fend off any suspicion from Symantec ??

    Cheaper on eBay $17.88

It is not an OEM copy so you are not breaking any rules buying it
It is also a 1 PC version, not a 1 user version

    Or a 1 user edition for $14.99

Shipping was just $1 site wide, has that now ended?

Easiest and cheapest AV: Don't view porn / crack sites

    • Too bad a client recently got a malware by clicking on a popup from a site for kids games recommended by her child's primary school. So, really, maybe you should keep running without AV but let's encourage others actually to do the smart thing and protect themselves.
