With data plans becoming so cheap and offline maps by Google maps, why would anyone pay for this?

    • +2

Plus Waze uses very little data if you want an alternative.

Some cars comes with mirrorlink capability. This offer may entice those who wishes to use the existing default head unit rather than a smartphone to run the Nav apps. As per the post notes, it will not benefit most. But thought i share it if there is anyone interested.

      • Does Google maps not work with Mirrorlink?

        • No, not supported. Only Sygic is one of the compatible apps. Real shame. Ref: https://mirrorlink.com/apps

How do I know? I own a mirrorlink head unit. Big screen but useless.

If you are travelling in areas where 3/4G data is non existent the downloaded maps work well with your GPS

      • Sygic has mirror link
      • it is an actual GPS app without full of shit
      • it is totally 100% offline GPS app. Google Maps isn't 100% offline as you need to previous download the area where you are going to. If you get outside of that area you are gone.
      • Google Maps tracks you, collect your data, and fuc* with your privacy.

I paid for it ages ago, and it is just perfect.

      • I wish it was perfect for me. Unfortunately has been far from that. Would you travel in Brisbane from Lutwyche to Logan Road via the ICB? Sygic does. Have had too many failures like that for Sygic to ever get any more of my money.

        • I am using Sygic Car Navigation, I have a Samsung Galaxy S8+ and I really have nothing to complain about :)

      • obviously never used waze.

  • Very misleading title!

      Very misleading discount code

      • Lol, true that. Make some changes. Happy for you to suggest a better tittle.

        • Their marketing team needs some serious English education.

        • Title doesn't need to mention discount code. Just remove that bit.

  • Google maps, so for those reasons I'm out.

    "120 thousand

    [X] Doubt

  • misleading discount code. great app.

  • Very misleading confusing

    • Not my fault that it is confusing. The discount code literally reads FREE. If you have a better suggestion for a clearer tittle, please put forward your suggestion.

Here maps is a free very good offline maps apps

    • The great thing with Here is the cross-platform profiles - I have it on my personal Android phone, work iPhone and use the web page, all on the same profile. You can download maps (handy for O/S) if you want and have your personal POI's on all of your devices. It's great for overseas trips as you can work your way through your destinations on your PC, put them into a collection and have it available on your device when you travel, although not in Japan or Korea

      • Really, didnt know that bit. I will check it out myself!

  • https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.navigation… < Offline Maps & Navigation is practically same as Sygic but Free + real-time traffic.

    • Most people who bought this app is for car connectivity to the head unit.

  • Bought this about 5 years ago and never used it due to it being "5 device limit (SEQUENTIAL not simultaneous) then your license is dead"

Which was good in a way, I'm just changing to my 4th phone and haven't needed it. Nor will I for a long time. So I haven't wasted it on any devices, but I'll bet my old purchase code doesn't even work now if I did try it.

    • I would have thought the license is link to your account rather than device. Do you know where it states 5 device limit?

      • This was 5 years ago, don't know if still current. They didn't keep it a huge secret so if you can't find it then it's probably no longer a thing

  • I used to keep an eye on the price, they were always claiming sales, it was basically always $70USD though. So I'm not sure this is a real discount.

I'm not sure as I last checked 5 years ago so I won't neg, but be careful, I'm suspicious you're all being fooled.

  • Waze is much better and free and if no connection download Google offline maps

  • Doesn’t get regular updates.
Just use the free google and Apple maps.

  • Any benefit of using this over a free world wide offline map app like HERE WeGo?

Been using HERE WeGo for years on my IOS phone. Works great. Has cameras and is updated regularly.

Google offline maps are huge, even for just my local area when I chose to download them. Not sure how Apple maps fare in size when saving them for offline use.

HERE Maps on W10 Mobile was - still is as MS Maps - a brilliant offline maps navigation program. Works well in UK and Europe as well.

RIP W10M (soonish) - HERE on Android is still pretty good. You can choose which maps to download - if you aren't going out of Qld you can go down to state level only. And they auto-update.

Not sure of the value premium for Sygic v HERE?

FYI Another offline mapping app is IGO Nextgen - although you need to buy the APK with Whereis maps ~$25 on eBay, with map updates ~$16. Excellent if you're using an Android tablet in a mount in your car, or a Pumpkin/Joying head unit.

  • I have seriously question how genuine Sygic ratings are in the iOS app store. Firstly, the fact that this app has a 4.7 rating is pretty crazy for its 1980's UI, but then, if you just read the comments they are all about 3 to 5 words and 5 stars.

How easy is it to create fictitious ratings? I really don't believe that these are genuine buyers who are rating this.
