Don't understand. Why pay a fee to someone when you can just as easily pay a bill via the company's site directly?

    • +1

IIRC there are certain exclusions that do not earn rewards points, the ATO being one of them. Going through a gateway instead would mean that you would accrue the points.

      • +2

Do the rewards points worth 2.99% commission they charge? Easy calculation.

        • +1

Well with 0% fee I imagine it would. Dunno about the 2.99%.

    • +1

Yeah I don't get it either - if I put it on my credit card and pay it off 40 days later, that's fee free too. Why would I want to pay a fee in the first place?

    • +1
      1. not every company accepts credit card payments
      2. some of them charge high % if you pay with the credit card
      • +9

Not many would be able to charge 2.99% legally.

      • +2

        Doesn't make sense to me
Just looking at my recent bills when paying by credit card, to see what the additional % is…
        Electricity 0.6%
        Water & sewerage 0.52%
        Council rates 0.51%
        NBN 0.43%
        Mobile 0%
        Gym 0%
        Cable tv 0%
        Netflix 0%
        Stan 0%
        All Insurances 0%
        Doctor 0%
        Dentist 0%
        etc, etc etc

      • +2

Can you provide an example of a company who charges more than 2.99%? I’ve certainly never seen one who will.

        • just one example:
DEFT - American Express: 3.30% surcharge

          • +3

@Bootman: DEFT is not a 'merchant', but rather a 'payments facilitator' just like you.
OP is an example of how to get round the 'Competition and Consumer Amendment (Payment Surcharges) Act 2016'.
Avoid this'payments facilitator' like the plague!

          • +1

@Bootman: Not really a good example. Just another "payment facilitator"

  • Code doesn't work

    • +1

Works for me but can't think of any bills under $300 that I can't pay for free directly with a credit card. Might sit on them for a while as long as they don't expire.

      • I can't pay my water rates, council, OC fees directly with Amex so if this works could be potentially good. Certainly not at 2.99% though.

        • Yeah, I've got my council fees and OC fees to pay but they're both way above $300, so I'm going to leave my points until I can find a use for it.

          • @nix1016: You could always part pay. That's what I do when those prepaid Coles Mastercard deals come up.

            • @neil: You're using prepaid cards to pay ATO, gov rates, same $ cost but getting points?

Credit to you. Never thought of it. But must say it's hardcore, I know I CBF

              • @justtoreply: Yeah, I'm at the supermarket anyway and there are always bills to pay so fairly straightforward/quick process.

Even better was the time you could buy these prepaid Mastercards/EFTPOS with a gift card (e.g. 5% off Woolworths via Cashrewards). Unfortunately both supermarkets have blocked this.

I can't see how 2.99% is competitive compared to what the actual bill merchants charge.

  • Do the 300 free points have an expiry date?

    • +1

      no expiry date

  • +6

Negging this due to shady business practices.
Charging someone 2.99% to pay a bill is dodgy at best.

    • +1

Even paypal fees are less than this, 2.6% + 30c, lol.

When you charge more than paypal you're doing something wrong!

  • Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

  • If you really wanted to earn points on every bill you pay, just pay 2.6% via Paypal and send the payment to a family member first…
When the new Amex redemption rates kick in this April I can't see a bright future for bill paying services unless the fees drop to 1%

  • bankrupt in 6 months..enjoy..

  • This is all different shades of shady. The barely-English descriptions, the vague claims like "As the preferred payment system" - of what, who?!

Enjoybill is what happens if you put the English language in a blender with a marketing textbook and the brain of a con artist.

    • I wonder if they meant Peter Pan? ;)

      Enjoybill.com.au or Enjoyabill ?

  • It took me so long to decipher what on earth the first post meant.

You need to monitor Ozb/facebook/etc for coupons.
You add the coupon to your account.
    A $100 coupon would mean you don't get charged 2.99% on $100.
Each code is one-use only. Eg: Once you've paid a single bill of $100 or more, that $100 coupon is consumed.

So, this might save you a few dollars if you really want to pay with Amex or a high-fee card. But it's only cheaper whilst you still have codes in your account. Otherwise it's more expensive than the amex fee and any other cc fee that I know of.

I'm yet to see bills from people that don't take credit card. No idea who you're talking about there.

No offence, but I CBF going through the rigmarole of your system even if OzB very conveniently gave me the codes without having to monitor your social media mess.

PS: You are not my preferred payment system. Now that you officially aren't, you probably should change the blanket statement on your website.

  • code doesnt work?

Business name is Enjoyabill while website is https://enjoybill.com.au/ Odd…
Domain registered to Denis Butyletskiy - educated in Belarus, and noting his location as Parliament House, New South Wales, Australia. Also odd.

      Fake details = negged.

      • +1

Certainly wouldn't trust my credit card details on this website.
