[Error Deal] HSBC Platinum Qantas Credit Card - 60K FF Points with $3000 Spend, First Year $0 Annual Fee, $79 Thereafter

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Been looking for a fee free way to obtain Qantas Points?

This offer provides 60,000 bonus QFF points, after meeting the minimum spend of $3000 in the first 3 months.

Minimum income: $40,000
Minimum credit limit: $6,000

Edit. Thanks everyone. My first deal to hit the first page, and all within 10-15mins. I applied, but awaiting approval.

Remember to cancel before one year is up, to avoid any fees.

Edit. Not sure why it's marked as expired. The Qantas link mentions the 60,000 bonus points… Scroll down to read the fine-print, which redirects to the HSBC website.

This is an exclusive offer via Qantas Offers.

Edit. The fine print on the bottom section of the linked page states the following
"~~ HSBC Platinum Qantas credit card: 60,000 bonus Qantas Points offer is available to new HSBC Platinum Qantas Credit Card holders who spend $3,000 on eligible purchases within three months of card approval. Bonus points will be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account within two months of the minimum spend being met. Eligible purchases exclude business expenses, interest free promotions, interest free merchant purchases, balance transfers and cash advances."

Offer should be live.

Mod: Based on all the evidence, it seems like this is either an old deal (from 2017) or a future deal that is mistakenly on Qantas website. Moved to forum as an error. If an actual offer is confirmed, someone will have to post again.

For those who have applied, I suggest you call up ASAP and tell them to cancel your application so your credit file doesn't get a hit.

There's no trace (that I can see) of the 60,000 bonus points at HSBC. It could be legit or a mistake (maybe it's supposed to be 30,000? Or start next month? Or have an annual fee?).

Basically, if you want to try and argue it, you say "hey Site X promised me 60,000 points! Here's the fine print." and it's completely possible they could say "that's nice, but we never offered that and have no control over our partner's site. They made a mistake. Our T&C don't mention anything about 60,000 points so no dice."

I'll wait for them to sort it out first. Expiry isn't for a while yet anyway.

Further proof - this is a link to the HSBC Platinum Qantas card. Here is the basic info from HSBC's own site, with no reference to 60,000 points (and it's their card):

        https://www.hsbc.com.au/credit-cards/products/platinum-qanta…

So there's a mismatch between qantaspoints.com (just a partner) and hsbc.com.au (actual owner). If you applied, don't expect to get the points until you see this in the T&C at HSBC. Yelling at HSBC won't help: they didn't make the mistake (if it is one)

      • There are no bonus sign up points for this card according to the reps at HSBC.

This is further proven by going to here:
        https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/earning-points/c…

You can see there are no bonus sign up points for this card

  • Ouch! Sometimes it's worth to not check Ozbargain as frequently… Anyway, hopefully, HSBC honours the offers to those applied!

If it was Qantas's stuff up, shouldn't the goodwill come from Qantas, not HSBC?

      • Hmm, either of them will hopefully honour the deal.

It appears the promotion is only for the HSBC card with no annual fee. No bonus points on offer. In addition, HSBC's website's Terms and Conditions (https://www.hsbc.com.au/credit-cards/offers/platinum-qantas/) make no reference to when "bonus points" will be awarded, let alone any mention of bonus points at all.

Use this site to keep up to date with their promos. It also only shows the card offering no annual fee. No word of bonus points.

    • Out of date offer:

…60,000 bonus Qantas Points. Apply before 30 June 2018 and spend $3,000 on eligible purchases….

        • This is a 2017 post from a 3rd party (Finder).

The only T&C that matter are the ones that take your application (who the contract is with). Right now it links to HSBC.

It looks like they offer 60k "free" points every once in a while: it could be that Qantaspoints.com just posted it a few days early before HSBC are ready?

This might be the fail of the year…. already.

  • ^Errr wasn't a referral or affiliate link!

Was a link to the deal that shows the offer which had zero bonus points included

  • Uh oh, OP better take the deal down. Thought it was too good to be true in 2019.

  • +4

HSBC might have change the condition when Qantas site didn't.
There are no more 60,000 bonus QF points as per HSBC site.

  • This looks expired

  • OK, based on all the evidence, it seems like this is either an old deal (from 2017) that is mistakenly on Qantas website. The same page has a BankSA offer that states BankSA Amplify Signature credit card: The bonus Qantas Points promotion is available when you apply for a new Amplify Signature Card between 19 April 2018 and 26 September 2018.

Isnt ypur credit file affected the moment you click submit???

      • Depends I guess if the applications are automatically processed or done manually by staff. Perhaps someone who has applied can let us know.

      • +1

        Yes

      • Yep, all credit-related applications once submitted, affect your credit file.

    FUUUU
I had applied a few days ago, thankfully screencapping everything.
And just called- spoke to an Irvine(?) who confirmed the deal was live and I'm eligible if I get approved….

    • WOWWWWWW i told ya. those overseas call centre/online chat know nothing.
      better talk with qantas

      • Certainly hope so.
I applied and am semi approved

  • +2

    Attention all.

I also called Qantas, and they confirmed the deal is live.

HSBC don't do anything (or know anything about it), but it's still a deal.

Would be good if it is moved back to deals, but I'll let the moderators decide.

    • on the qantas website though there is nothing about 60k points bonus points at sign up
so if the deal is "free for the first year and 1point per $"it's not that amazing…

  • Now i'm really confused

  • Seems like Qantas caught up? The offer disappeared on the page linked but the fine print is there. Saved an application on progress, but not sure want to pursue and left with a hard inquiry with nothing.
