Moscow, Russia Return from Melbourne $842/ Sydney $858 on China Eastern @ Beat That Flight

110

China Eastern is China's second largest airline by passenger numbers, and a member of the Skyteam alliance. It also codeshares with Qantas on some routes.

Note that CE flies into both Sheremetyevo or Domodedovo airport, so check both SVO and DME airports as it might save you a few dollars, as seen below! Might also be shorter connections with one than the other, or longer if that's what you prefer.

  • Going to a dodgy country on a dodgy airline. Nice.

    • +3

Been on Aeroflot, Air Asiana (Kazakhstan's carrier) and S7 (Siberian Airways) in, around and out of Russia. S7 was the nicest and newest I've ever been on :D

Haven't flown CE but Skytrax gives them a 3/5* (https://www.airlinequality.com/airline-reviews/china-eastern…)

I had nothing but wonderful experiences in Russia. I’d go back to Moscow or St Petersburg tomorrow, if it was summer there and someone else paid.

Russia is a lovely country and it we found the people of Moscow really helpful and nice.

  • Getting and needing a visa kills the deal

    • Every time I've been, I just used a service like visatorussia. No problems!

      • How much was visatorussia and visa?

        • This was 11 and 8 years ago, it'd depend on your passport as well and what visa you're applying for. You can check it out at https://www.visatorussia.com/

(same as reply you got below, it depends).

          • @beatthatflight: Gees does no-one from Australia travel on Australian passport anymore?

  • +1

The visa is a pain and expensive to do yourself, still annoying and more expensive to use a site like visatorussia but I can honestly say Russia was a standout highlight of the 2 years I spent travelling Europe / Extended Europe region.

    • How much is the visa and agent?

      • Sorry super late reply.

its different for each country, at the time I was travelling on my british passport.

Normal 30 day visa seems to be around the $100 mark for other countries. I would estimate around 300 or so for Russia, again prices are totally different depending on which country your passport is from.

I didnt use the agent, I looked at what needed to be done even with them helping, they really dont do much more than a afternoon of googling cant tell you.
