    No stock

  • V10 Animal is in stock but can't apply discount code because it says 'Coupon code "UPFWAL" is not valid.'

  • Where did that coupon originate from? Have Dyson had a 25% coupon before, seems suspicious. Hopefully they don't all get cancelled

    • My work has a dyson corporate account and we regularly get 25% off RRP. With this in mind I wouldn't say its dodgy.

      • It’s not dodgy but it definitely looks like a Dyson corporate discount code - hopefully they don’t cotton on hehe

        • Maybe. Out corp one the disc was automatically applied. No discount code so couldn't be abused.

        • My old work also had a 25% off corporate code. The discount code was a combination of a set string and your staff ID though and you had a limit of 5 units per staff/code.

          • +1

@dust: Which companies are corporate? Do you mean you have to work for Dyson?

  • Anyone know anything about or have experience with the LG cordzero A9?

    • +1

I have the A9Master2X. Some like it. It's not bad. I paid $620 - $60 in savings from discounted ebay gift cards.

But I'd rather get this one. If I knew this deal was coming I would have waited.

The LG does not feel powerful. It could just be an illusion due to it being significantly quieter than the Dyson because it does pick up dust.

The good thing is it came with 2 batteries and a spare filter.

I should make clear that I'm not a fan of Dyson products (I think they're all overpriced), and I do think sticks in general are very expensive.

I'm curious as to how paying $750 for a vacuum worth about $200-300 is considered a bargain? Is the plastic impregnated with gold or diamonds?

    • +2

Haven’t used our other Dyson vac or our mi robot since picking one up. Best purchase by far, saves a lot of time and leaves the carpet looking new. Agree it’s not worth the asking price but for the amount of use it gets I don’t regret it.

We got ours during a DJ’s sale and ended up being out of pocket in the $600’s after cashback and gift card promo

    • +1

      It factors in R&D costs.

Making an iPhone costs about $200-300 but it sells for $1800 because the R&D costs are ammortised across each unit sold. Once they sell enough to recover all R&D they can discount the phone because they've recouped all the R&D costs.

      • Because of Apple's greed.

        • Lostn is right, but the it could have been sold for a bit less.

        • Well yes, that is true also. You don't become the biggest company in the world without pushing your profit margins to its limits.

But the reasoning why things cost way more than their manufacture costs still stands.

      • ROFL! If you want to replace the term "R&D" with "marketing", then perhaps I'd agree. Like Dyson's claim of having invented a "digital motor" for the vacuum, which is of course just an ordinary brushless motor — the type which has been around for many decades. The reality is they are cheap plasticy rubbish, churned out en-mass in some Chinese factory. There's nothing special about them apart from the price. Just look at the percentage of Dyson's that go bung in less than 5 years (around 1 in 3 if I recall correctly).

        • +1

We don't know how much they spent on R&D. It's obviously going to be more than 0. And yes there's a healthy profit margin thrown in there, but to assume they did nothing is pretty misinformed.

Yes, the technology already exists, but even just redesigning the aesthetics, the curves, the look, the placement of components, that is R&D in itself.

The reality is they are cheap plasticy rubbish, churned out en-mass in some Chinese factory.

That's the manufacturing part. It's only a small factor of the price. Most electronics are cheaply produced.

          • @lostn: I'm not debating whether or not they have an R&D budget.. obviously they do! But why do you think it's so many factors more than what LG, Samsung, Miele, Vax or anybody else spends on R&D? Do you honestly think the "curves" of the Dyson are worth paying 4 times the price? Well, obviously you do…

            • @dcash: No of course not.

But every time you design the shape and placement of parts, you have to test it and try out a million different modifications before you arrive at the final design. This takes time and money. 4 times? No. But it doesn't factor in a lot of other costs down the line, such as support centers, warranty, marketing, distribution chain, all the middle men that take a cut, shipping, taxes, other staff not involved in manufacturing, etc. If they sold it for half the price, I don't think they are still profitable. Or if they are, they can't maintain what they're doing long term.

              • @lostn: But why can other vacuum manufactures do it for less? There's only one reason Dyson's cost more. Because people like yourself think that because it costs a lot more, it must be better. You've drunk the Kool Aid and bought into the Dyson marketing spiel, believing that they actually "try out a million different modifications" and suchlike. The reality could not be further from the truth.

              • @lostn: Don’t bother arguing - some people can’t see the value in this sort of product (like my dad - he’d be happy with a $50 stick vacuum from Kmart) while others can.

You won’t convince dcash (or my dad for that matter) that this Dyson is justifiably more expensive then something that works similarly but may or may not be inferior (like the LG). Just leave it…

    • I am not a smart man…

    • You haven’t used a Dyson before, have you?
Yeah, it’s expensive, but it’s the King of Portable Vacuum Cleaners.
I have 10 different ones in different brands, and have to say Dyson is still the best and most expensive.
But you get what you pay for.

  • If you have a Dyson product previously and give them a call. They usually give you the 25% off a new product as a loyal customer. Worth a shot if you are interested in buying one.

    • Omg really? What do you say to them?

      • +1

"I'm a professional shopper from ozbargain"

        • You can get 40% discount coupon by saying "I have double PhD in Ozbargain and Yelp"

      • Only if you own an Outdated Dyson product.

  • +1

I've been waiting for one, checking each day and because I'm not on at midnight I miss a sale? Hilarious!!

    • +1 !!!!!!

    • If midnight isn't acceptable I probably should take a long hard look at myself.. order confirmation email received at 3am!

    • I saw this deal active at 8 this morning.. it expired soon after though

  • +6

How can the official manufacturer run out of stock?

    • +1

      I know right!

  • damn, missed mid-night deal. it just happend yesterday that my 4 year old DC59 animal stopped working

    • Same, I wanted to buy this couple of months ago and bought V6. Seems quite and less power. V10 is way too expensive.

  • +2

Just spoke with someone from Dyson. They will be adding stock soon and should update within a few hours. Apparently they have thousands left.

    • +1

the question is - will the code work again?

      • +2

        Nope

    • Making way for a new model?

    • +1

Just spoke to Dyson. Stock has been added but the code isn't working and they are saying they know nothing about it :( You'd think if Dyson were clearing stock in preparation for a new model they wouldn't do a small of amount units the go back to full price. This looks like a teaser to me :(

  • I ordered the Animal, but just got off the phone with them and they were able to change it to the Absolute using the promo code. For those of you who bought the animal

    • Did they charge you the difference?

      • Hahaha, unfortunately.

    • +1

called them and they said the promocode is for online only system, phone order doesnt have field to enter promo code

  • I need a Dok any one not wanting please let me know?

    • Ditto, but with the vac itself.

  • +1

Buy a LG with replaceable batteries. Cheaper and the same but better.

    • What model?

  • +6

Coupon code "UPFWAL" is not valid.

  • +3

In stock but the code does NOT work

    • Some comments above said PayPal payment is needed for the code to work. Have you tried?

      • Have you?

I have but tell me how to enter the code AND pay with paypal.

        • No I have not tried because I am not buying one. That was what kenneth88 and Graffin said earlier that PayPal and internet explorer would get the code to work. Sorry it didn't help.

          • @wtfnodeal: Ah well

          • @wtfnodeal: I (painfully) went through the checkout process on IE + Paypal and it doesn't work. Even once you add in all the shipping details and go back to the cart to add the code, it's still invalid.

      • +1

AS far as I can see, you get prompted for the promo code before even entering payment details, not sure where you can dd this code afterwards?

        • +4

          Thus…

Coupon code "UPFWAL" is not valid.

  • Just wondering, how much better is the Torque Drive motor compared to the Direct Drive motor?

Some people say, its a big difference and others don't notice.

  • Its available in David Jones for $899 including the dok. If you are able to get 10% off gift card then you could bring the price down to $810.

    • Got a link?
Absolute+ is still showing $999. Animal is $899 which is retail.

      • My bad, did not realize it was animal.

  • just had live chat with dyson, the code not working looks like it was targeted email, they said you need to send email to dyson to buy with the original email received with the code.

  • +2

Tried to place an order and apply a code via paypal. Was not given the opportunity to do so and ended up paying the $999. Rang Dyson. They dont have the ability to cancel an order(!!!!) I have to receive the goods and send it back within 30 days for a refund. I wont even be opening the package! What an incredible waste of time and STUPID process! Satisfaction with Dyson is ZERO.

    • +1

yes the live chat experience was not pleasant as well, they don't give a damn

    • but it's free returns right? you're only dissatisfied because you didn't get a good deal, put that passion to finding us a better deal.

      • +1

Yes it is free returns. But the process is BS. Ive told them that I wont be opening the package and will be asking for a return label the same day. (I did ask them if they could send it to me now). When you think of all the cost cutting that businesses deploy, youd think the ability to cancel would be a no-brainer.

        • +1

That is the dumbest thing Ive ever heard - can't cancel an order that was made 5 minutes ago.

          • @flashi007: Probably hoping that you change your mind once received.

        • +1

do you have to return unopened? if you wanted to REALLY get back at them, just open the package, use it for 25 days, then return it to them all dusty and hairy

    • +1

Fair to say, this deal "sucks"? :)

    • Just had this happen to me too. They told me to go through paypal but paypal clears the payment instantly so no way for them to reverse it short of opening a dispute.

I thought I was in the clear because paypal says that you can go to the next page without confirming your order except that's false and you actually confirm your order by clicking proceed.

      • Ah et tu Brutus

        • Yep. The order is already being packed.. they work too quick and unfortunately I wasn't able to call in time to get them to cancel the order.

          • @Arick: I online chatted within seconds - paypal was still pending.
And got a call back while I was chatting (within minutes) It's was too late the moment I paid. Crazy policy that costs them, and ultimately us, money

  • F yeah got the delivery confirmation already

    • Thank you for ordering from Dyson.
We'd like to confirm that we have shipped the following order for you. Your order tracking details are below.

      Score !!!!!

      • It looks like the Dok is out of stock at the moment.

They shipped the Dyson v10 Absolute+, but I called them and they said the Dok will be sent separately as soon as they get them (~3-4 days).

        • Cool thanks for the info

      • +1

        Despatched!!

  • Just picked up from post office, no dock included. Also no email saying dock is out of stock atm or no note with order informing us about dock status.
Just got call back, ETA for callback was 7 minutes but ended up being about 30. Dock coming from different warehouse, they haven't shipped yet

    • For what it's worth, the shipping notification on the vacuum states "If you can’t see all of the items you ordered below, it means we’ll be sending these separately. We’ll let you know when they’ve despatched too."

My dock shipped this morning from Lenah Valley in Tasmania, weirdly - so I expect I'll get it early next week.

  • Ffs how did i miss this sweet deal ughhh

  • How is everyone finding there V10, I'm still deciding if to get one or not against the LG

    • Now that I have a Dyson, they're so nice to use that I actually vacuum with some regularity. :-)

I've had the V8 and upgraded to the V10, and have also used a V6. In my opinion, the upgrade from V6 to V10 is worthwhile, but the upgrade from V8 to V10 is less significant. If you prefer the easier ejection, want the larger bin capacity, or need the longer run-time, then V8-to-V10 could still be worth it for you, though…

If you haven't tried a Dyson and have some $$$ lying around, consider getting one! V8 if you want to save a few $$$, or V10 if you want the best or can find a good discount (like the Good Guys eBay 20%-off code going right now).
