  • not worth the money when compare with the 8800GT
pay about $130 more for extra 10% more performance.
    ill stick to 8800GT

  • Hard to argue with the logic there - i agree the 9800GTX does not smash the 8800GT in most benchmarks - the only reason i am going the GTX is that my mobo is a crossfire board, so I wont SLI and even 10% improvement is worth it.

Hard to believe an 8800GTX used to cost around $1000, now the 9800GTX is approaching $300….

  • I'd strongly recommend people AGAINST shopping at this store.

Their prices can be low BUT the owner commonly personally abuses & swears at customers - noted on numerous forums.

In my experience they do not follow legal requirements when it comes to faulty goods either.

    • lol! If he swears at u, swear at him back? haha
You ever watched Gordon Ramsay kitchen nightmares? If not u should try watching it :P

  • Hmm Nikko not sure of the problem you experienced but I have had none - the prices are as cheap as they get, on the few occassions I have needed to return goods they have been replaced or repaired with absolutely no issue.

This shop is my preferred shop for PC stuff in Sydney - where would you recommend instead of Fluidtek?

  • Just to clarify, does this mean every time I put up a post for a Fluidtek bargain, you are going to neg it?

  • I must admit I have had many issues trying to order stuff from Fluidtek. It's fine if you can walk in and buy but for mail order too complicated IMO.

  • OMG their website is the most aweful website. Its unco and you cant navigate properly

    • OMG their website is the most aweful website.

I think MSY still leads in that department :)

      • The updated MSY BUT READABLE scraper (FAQ) is awesome, particularly for having categories like "Truly miscellaneous", "Cooling shit" and "VoIP shit".

        MSY should pay that guy.

  • Fluidtek is great for a walk in store - their prices are one of the cheapest around. However, as others have said, their website is very poor and they don't do delivery…

If you want to shop at Fluidtek, you should know what you want to get, go in and get it, leave. Don't expect any spectacular customer service or the sort.

  • why do people complain about customer service? lol, if u wanna have customer service, go to harvey norman and pay 50% more LOL!
Places lik fluidtek, u walk in, grab what u want, pay, and leave. No place for noobs that can't decide what they wanna get.

  • I can't agree more with you Neosin - also I would point out that one reason some noobs don't like places like Fluidtech is that if say the noob damages the cpu socket or cpu pins because they have no idea what they are doing, Fluidtek will rightly refuse to replace or refund under warranty - places like David Jones/Harvey Norman etc are more willing to take back goods even when damaged by the customer.

I have seen one instance of this in person in Fluidtek - and although it could have been handled with more finesse, I think Eddie was right to refuse to bear the cost of the kid's mistake

Agree that Fluidtek is only good for walk-in buying, if you are not in Sydney, either find a friend who is or shop somewhere else….

  • FWIW I wasn't talking about a 'newb' mistake and if there's one thing about Fluidtek its that they make their own rules…but anyway.

Fact is there are soooooo many horror stories floating around forums about this store…..given its VERY small and also has no online ordering system etc you have to ask WHY? Preferably before you shop there.

Also FWIW I aslo used to LOVE this shop - but one incident changed my mind about it and I should have known better in advance as I'd seen this guys antics over and over and thought I'd never wear them.

There is a difference between being a no-frills retailer and literally abusing & misleading clients….this store is just a bad seed IMO…..they're sometimes cheaper on a item but generally MSY and IT Estate are both cheaper across the board. They also do follow their statutory obligations to customers and aren't aggressively abusive to clients that I've ever seen.

I'm not going to get into a back and forth with FanBois….ALL I am saying is be aware of this store before you rush in to save $20 or so.

    Caveat Emptor.

    • "but one incident changed my mind"

Care to tell us about it? U say it's all over the forums? Can you post some links so we can all see?

  • I am no fanboi and I have dealt with both MSY and IT Estate.

All 3 are good shops, but I prefer Fluidtek because he has stock when he says he does and I find him cheaper - particularly than IT Estate.

MSY is not as convenient to me as the other 2 (I live in Hornsby)and on occassions I have gone there only to be disappointed that they have no stock.

  • The fluidtek owner does have personality issue.

Don't ever try to haggle with him or mention competitor's pricing, he would go ballistic.

Even if customer asks for price, he would simply answerek: look at the web.
