This is a fair bloody hike from my office but it might just be worth it…

    • Good motivation for some exercise

  • I'd totally get this if it was near the office! - but in winter… so it depends when it expires.

  • +1

Does it include ice coffee or just hot coffee?

    • +3

I've asked them on Instagram, will let you know.

    • I managed to get an iced chai and the barista confirmed iced versions are at no extra cost

  • +1

I wonder how they keep track of your 30 coffees and how long you have to use them, or if it's just 1 a day for a month

    • +1

I've asked them how long you have to use the offer and how they track the coffees (e.g. a card).

      • Good job mate, asking the right questions!

      • I also asked and they said there's no expiry πŸ‘πŸ‘

  • +3

Thanks @OP it's a completely new and unique offer that's an absolute belter for anyone in the CBD of Melbourne

  • +1

That's a great deal, and one of the best looking Keep Cups I've seen.

  • There must be a catch, always is

    • Where can I get one of your tin foil hats?

    • +5

Presumably the benefit for the cafe is that you end up carrying around their branded keep cup and giving them free advertising wherever you go.

    • They hope you'll also buy something else or bring a friend that pays full price

      • And have everyone in the office talk about that free coffee place.

And maybe some people even write a good review on Zomato.
Or like the place so much, you become a regular even after the promotion.

  • Could be a good deal, depending on how the 30 coffees are calculated.

30 coffees for over a couple of months (say 2 months)? Good deal.

One coffee every day for 30 days? No deal

  • Not bad value.
Better than the price for their dumplings. Vego Dumpling (3pc) $9…that's $3 per dumpling! Maybe it's huge. Might have to go look.

Imagine the queues… yeah no thanks!

    • +1

Why would there be a queue? Deal started last Wednesday.

      • All the people redeeming their 30 coffees?

        • I've been twice and have been able to get my coffee within 5 minutes.

    • Atlas shrugged.

  • Coffee seems good, curious how they deal it out.

$24 for a cup is stupidly excessive, but $0 is decent.

  • +33

For those of us in Sydney, I did the mafs, it's not worth it…

    • Same goes for us lot in Docklands!!

  • +1

1.3km walk from the office, adds 15 minutes to my daily commute, save $4 on coffee.

But I do like St. Ali coffee and I need to lose some weight, so I'm in. I'm guessing it'll be something like free coffee for all of March though. Will find out tomorrow morning, I suppose.

  • Anyone comment on the quality of keep cup? Considering one of these just for the cup and potential to redeem a few coffees over an extended time.

Unsure what the glass keep cups are normally worth (other varieties that is).

    • Unsure what the glass keep cups are normally worth

      $24

It's a cup that holds liquid and it does that job well. It really depends on whether you prefer glass or plastic. Don't overthink it.

      • -3

        Thanks captain obvious…..

I'm asking compared to the cost of other brands of keep cups.

I also frequent the city but not often enough to redeem the value of the coffees if it's a short redemption period.

Hence, cost of this deal vs. cost of just buying a cup on its own.

        • I also frequent the city but not often enough to redeem the value of the coffees if it's a short redemption period.

There's no suggestion in the description that the redemption period is short.

The offer is available with Goldie KeepCups purchased prior to 15th March 2019, however the free coffees may be redeemed after this date. The Goldie KeepCup and loyalty card must be presented for each redemption.

The value in this deal is getting 30 presumably decent coffees (including extra shots and milk changes) for $30. The cup is a bonus. If you just want a reusable coffee cup, you can buy a glass KeepCup for $24 or Google for other brands / knock-offs that are cheaper than that if you don't care about the coffee benefits.

        • +1

I'm asking compared to the cost of other brands of keep cups.

There is only one brand of keep cup (keep cup is the brand)

Keep cups are good but I think Frank Green ones are better as the lid screws down so it can't leak. I find that after a while keep cups leak.

Mm when my current keep cup needs replacing my next cup will be a Frank Green

          • +1

@spaceflight: I've got a few keep cups (inc 1 glass one and an aging plastic one) as well as a frank green cup.

the frank green cups are some great industrial design but they are pretty overrated IMO. the screw mechanism isnt the be all and end all - they still leak out of the "pop top" mechanism. also because of the pop top mechanism, they are really hard to clean.

even the shorty frank green cup is also a fair bit taller than the keep cup. i find the regular size keep cup is the perfect size for a "small" coffee in melbourne.

            • +1

              @xyron: Thanks for the insight.

they still leak out of the "pop top" mechanism

The keep cup can still leak from the mouth piece. But I don't put them into a bag with liquid so this doesn't bother me.
However I would have thought that when full the Frank Green would leak less because the pop top has a spring mechanism?

The leaks on the keep cup that bother me are from the lid seal when I drink meaning I end up with tea/coffee on my clothes. The screw lid on the Frank Green cup should mean no leaks.

even the shorty frank green cup is also a fair bit taller than the keep cup

I think both small sizes are 8oz.

              • @spaceflight: Thanks spaceflight, more the info I was trying to chase. I'm aware there is only one "keep cup," it was more the concept I was hinting at. I'm aware there are many coffee connoisseurs on here so just wanted to see if some could weigh in on the reusable cup market.

To the neg-voters, thanks for your help…

                Cheers.

  • How long does this deal go for? will be visiting shortly!

    • I asked and they said no expiry on when can be used.

  • +3

Got mine this morning on the way in. Their site says they open at 7am but looks like it was 7.30. Saw them sell about 10 of these cups as soon as they open. Hope they have a big supply of them.

Now i wait. He is still taking orders and haven't started making them yet.

    • How'd you go?

      • No more in stock, they only had fifteen.

  • I just left, they only had fifteen and was sold out by 8am…

    • oh damn. is it 15 per day?

      • I'll ask the rep for further clarification.

      • +1

Looks like they may have had limited stock on hand today. They now have no daily limit to the offer.

        • By no daily limit, does this mean they have an abundance of cups?

          • +2

@Baebs: Yes! I asked the person who served me today and she said that they had ordered several boxes (at least 4) of the keepcups, with each box containing 20 cups. Whether there is a limit in the end though, she didn't know.

  • Been there today at 8:45 and he mentioned only 15 per day and all sold out by 7:30. Plus I saw so many people using this offer already. Not sure how long he would be able to keep his business running with this offer.

    • +1

Annnnd theres the catch! 15 cups or they just run out of selling them

    • Is it a new cafe? I'm not familiar with it. It's pretty common for new cafes to have things like a free coffee day or free coffee for a couple of hours etc for the purpose of getting new customers in the door.

      • Opened in December going by their Instagram account.

  • This deal has been ozbargained.

  • is this sold out for today or they have stopped doing the deal?

    • I would imagine they woulnt exactly have a deivery of exactly 15 cups each day - you will find out tomorrow if theres only 15 β€˜left’ again tomorrow

    • +2

Rep has said that stock has now been replenished and there is no daily limit to the offer. So back on from 7AM Friday.

  • So anyone been there and had a coffee? Is it any good? St Ali beans are a good start, but if they can't make a decent coffee with them i'd rather pay for a good coffee.

    • I had a coffee today, and it's above average. Wouldn't mind having another cup.

  • +1

Just got one!!! They have around 10 more left!! Go! Go! Go!!!

    Thanks OP!!! 😊😊😊

  • +1

Can confirm. Just snagged one Too!!!

  • +1

Was gonna go at 7am tomorrow but found out the missus swung past after work and picked up one for us both with an iced drink waiting at home!

  • +3

This is perfect to go on a tinder dating spree! "Can we meet up for coffee?" - If your tinder date also has one of these, then you know he/she is a marriage material

  • +1

Superb deal. Was in and out within 20 minutes of opening time, coffee is of St Ali standard, and cup is great. I might go back to get another one (and use the keep cup as a KK gift come end of year).

  • They had lots when they opened this morning. Decent sized line though. People were getting two at a time which I thought was pretty sucky if you were at the back of the line and missed out

  • -1

Either the coffee was super hot or the quality of the band is mediocre as the cup was pretty hot to hold.

  • Got there this morning at 7. They made us wait until 7:30. Only realizes later that the hotel access directly to the left would have let us in. They honored the $30 deal and had quite a few lined up for sale. Great deal.

Hey Vl and Bel! Met you this morning, PM if you guys might wanna have dinner together some time!

    -R

  • Went there just then they have plenty left. Also conformed that there's no expiration on the redemption of the coffees β˜•

  • Just went at 11 AM 5th of March, out of stock. Asked the girl when they expected to have more in and she replied that she couldnt share that kind of information with me.

    • Ive confirmed with them they've completely sold out.
