          • @Deridas: Finally some good news. The seller has contacted me and advised that I will be issued with a full refund once I've returned the video card. I've also been provided with a return label which will cover the postage for returning the video card. Oh well, I guess it's back to integrated graphics 🙄

            • @macstevi: It's not all good, it means you didn't get a bargain video card when you needed one…

You're on integrated graphics? Sounds like you need the card more than me :O

@Deridas: Yep, have been on integrated graphics for 2 years so almost any other video card on the market will be a significant upgrade. Hopefully another good deal pops up soon

I can confirm that these are NOT brand new and in fact well-used probably miner cards. That's all i want to say for now.

Some other poor bastard spelt it out on google reviews:

One Saturday night I paid for a Gigabyte graphics card ("mining OEM package") through their website. It was advertised as "100% NEW with 2 years Warranty" and much cheaper than any other price I'd seen. I also opted to pick it up from the store.

For several days I was told that they had it in stock - in their warehouse The first couple of days they said it would be the next day. After that they said I needed to wait for a confirmation email. That email never came.

After 5 days, I demanded a refund. They told me I had to send an email request. I had a back and forth discussion with the guy in the shop about how this should be a simple reversal of funds. I asked for the phone number of someone with authority to refund me, to which he responded in a very condescending manner that they only use emails because "they are traceable". I sent the email and soon after received a call from the warehouse guy who then called the store to discuss, after trying to convince me that they had already shipped it to my address (total garbage).

The store apparently had the card all along. I asked to have a look at it. The guy in the store picked up a card off the bench. No static bag with Gigabyte security seal. No protective covers on the contacts or output ports. I have no doubt that it was used - probably on one of their mining PC's - and then they tried to flog it off as new.

One star because Google won't let me rate lower. At least the refund was quick. If they were actually honest with customers, they would have had my sympathy. Avoid at all costs.

Arrived this morning. Not new, has marks on it from previous installs, in particular you can see where the screw has marked the back plate where it fixes to the chasis more than once.

Ok, so there's been two people that stated the cards are definitely not new, contradicting what was advertised.

Does FTC not want their store to feature on Ozbargain?

I have revoked my vote on this deal. I wonder what it takes to ban a store from Ozbargain?

I thought the price was too good to be true, perhaps I dodged a bullet here missing out on one…

      • To be clear I bought from a later batch that went up, not the original ones mentioned.

Got a polite and apologetic reply from FTC in that the listing was in error, the unit I got was a 'demo' one and the invoice is actually marked as such. They have replied those ones were not supposed to be listed as new, there were only a few put up. Full refund inc. return costs as per eBay standard rules offered.

Not sure where that leaves those who bought the original deal, or those who got substitute cards etc. perhaps once a few more people have reported back on what they got from the various models that were on offer it will become clearer.

    • Clearly not new cards… used mining cards sold as-new…

    • After looking at the photos, I'm glad that I registered for a refund which has finally been completed. I guess i'll be in the market for a Geforce GTX-1160 Ti when they drop to around the $350 mark.

  • Going off topic a bit but I wasn't aware that there were fake GTX-1060s circulating around:

    https://forums.overclockers.com.au/threads/nvidia-gtx-1060-5…

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Graphics-Card-GTX1060-5G-192Bit-…

The OzBargain part of me says do it, but my recent experiences say that's not wise ;)

    • Fake ones are along the same lines as the old 750Ti scam cards.. There are however genuine 5gb cards from China.

I've actually gathered up a few fake cards locally, a $12 programmer fixes the bios back to normal and you're left with either a 450r2 or 550Ti to sell on.

    • That eBay one is 100% fake for sure though.. pretty much says so in the description when they describe is as ‘upgraded’ along with the lovely VGA port in the back.

  • That's a shame, I was looking for updates from the people that snagged one, but only see that FTC misleads 100% new = 100% used for mining.
