Oo that v30 plus price is great. I ran over the misses iPhone 6s the other day ('on accident') so might get her one

    • 100% recommended. Great phone.

So torn, I really want the v20 cos it's the only flagship phone with replaceable batteries but it's discontinued. Only place to get it is eBay.

If the v30 had replaceable battery I'd be all over it.

        • +3

          I'd run over it.

        • +3

I have the v20. It needs the replaceable battery because it's pretty much worn out after 12 months of use.

          • @edrift: replaceable batteries means larger phone ….the market is for slimmer phones so it would take a brave company to make a thicker phone for a select market that lives on a budget and cheaps out on battery replacement….apple has never had user replaceable batteries …

lots of places do $30 for labour + battery for replacement on sealed phones ….

          • @edrift: This. It was a great phone but shit… Battery blasted through.

        • +1

When I first heard of non-replaceable batteries I scoffed. But I haven't replaced a phone battery since Nokia 3xxx series.

Some might see it as a lack of confidence. IE: If you don't need to replace, why offer it.

          • @Ulysses31: Replaceable batteries are good for those who plan to keep their phone for a long time. If you sell it after 2 years, you won't have to worry about inevitable battery degradation, which happens to all batteries including iPhone batteries as you saw last year.

But there could also be other areas with built in planned obsolescence that you can't avoid if you are trying to hold onto it for longer.

            • +1

@lostn: it’s not that expensive to get batteries replaced on sealed phones, they do it while you wait and it’s less than 15 mins, the problem is getting good quality batteries and very few people pay for original brand prices.

              • +1

@garage sale: problem is also retaining ip68! Most kiosks wont guarantee it after retrofit of screen, battery bak etc

              • @garage sale:

Well, if you go to Apple it's $100 plus shipping to replace an iPhone battery.

Apple are known to sue non-authorized repair centers. And people in general don't trust non-authorized repairers as much as they would trust the OEM.

          • @voltagex: Do you want to go with the company that built phones that start fires, or the company that built phones that would bootloop that they'd give you a headache to fix under warranty? Good times eh?

        • +1

I have the V20 and I have not had an issue with the battery whatsoever. It's as good as most phones and I to tell you the truth, the fast USB-C charge just means plug it in when it is running flat. My phone will last a day without an issue, not as good as my old Nokia 1520 but that was running an OS that wasn't heavy on the juice. Remember the V20 has a higher res screen than a basic HD unit.

With the V30, a work colleague has bought the unit and has found it amazing. The thing I would miss that the V30 has is the IR blaster. Apart from that, the V30 is amazing, audio is amazing for those who have proper headphones and a headphone jack. If my V20 failed today, the V30 or one of the new Nokia's would be my choice. Sod paying near a grand for a phone.

Going to have be at a lower price point to pick up the v30+now, particularly as the next gen phones have all been revealed in the last few weeks.

  • Oh no i was about to get the galaxy S10 plus dual Sim on Woolworths bargain till I saw this… Now what's a man to do ??

    • +1

Man up and get the S10.

    • +11

Aren't they completely different phones? Like saying "Should i buy a new BMW or a 2 year old Commodore".

      • +3

Yea agreed that the s10 is like a 2 year old Commodore.

What's the best deal out of all the phone deals posted here today?

    • +4

      Poco

      • +1

        S9+ heuhuehehuheuhe

      • +1

no nfc so can’t do electronic payments and no band 28 if in rural areas ….not sure why people keep promoting the poco , chinese national pride by overseas students ?

..obviously wasn’t designed for australian market.

        • +1

lol i live in a rural area. and i have cards with paywave built in. do you live in a rural area?

      • I dig the OnePlus 6, although I do have a bit of a bias after owning older phones. Although they really going up in price, looking at around 580$ for one.

        • Also good choice at the price. Actually just bought a p20 for the old lady

    • The V30+ would've been an easy first…. but several people managed to get that Samsung S9+ earlier for about same price.
That was the OzDeal of 2019 so far. I would've definitely jumped on the V30 wagon at this price 6 months ago (a steal) but now I'm waiting for the current-gen devices to come to the market.

The Note8 or even the Note9 at nearly $800 isn't that impressive. Especially since there are other QSD 855 phones coming soon like the Xiaomi Mi9, Xiaomi Mi Mix3, Xiaomi BlackShark 2, Xiaomi Poco F2, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro, and probably another Xiaomi model swell ; )

      • S9+ is a better buy. You get updates and longer support from Samsung. Also it takes better selfies and photos. One UI also better than LG.

I would wait for G7 to come down in price if you really want Quad DAC and wide angle camera

        • you won't find a S9+ near this price though

      • +3

        They refunded all of us

        • -2

One guy called up and they confirmed not pricing error and his order went through.

          • +3

@lostn: Nope, they confirmed it wasn’t a pricing error and then refunded him later as they did everyone including me, no one received this phone

  • LG V50 is coming and it will be 4x this price

    • 4x the price and what extra do you really get ?

      • 4x the e-peen for bragging rights?

  • Can we use Westpac cash back offer? As the only payment method is PayPal.

  • nice

  • V30+ is Very tempting at that price

Now to decide if I want to go all out on S10 or just get the V30+ at more than half the price

  • I got this phone when last time it went on sale and it's a very good phone at a great price I am sure the new S10 is better but it's twice the price and not twice as good

    • Twice? I reckon 2.5 times….

      • yes the S10 costs more than $1000

  • i got one of these v30 from last deal, so far been good, great camera.

    • I am thinking of buying this phone for the wife but online reviews of the camera is putting me off.

    • heard selfie cam is bad.

      • I’ve one from last sale, selfie is bad, wide angle is pretty good, battery and performance is very good aswell.

      • Don't get it for selfie you will regret.

        Is worse than s6

      • i will send a sample selfie if u want lol its ok

  • +8

Can you do the $439 you did that one day?

  • Is the V30+ at $480 a much better buy than the Nokia 7.1 at $380? Worse updates but better everything else?

  • I just bought the LG V30+ for 10% off ($539) earlier today cries

    • Cancel the order and uncry.

  • +1

Picked up one in the last deal and loving it.

Initially was a rude shock given the ugly and fat skins after coming from android one, but managed to get it to my liking by using Nova Launcher and customising it to be as pixel 3 like as possible.

One of my favourite features is how wide the focal length of the 2nd lens is! At 12mm, you can fit everything in!!

    Loz

    • I am still using the LGUI. Dont mind it at all. Double tap of screen for on and off is awesome. Nova didnt give me that. Only status bar double tap.

      • I don't even your the app drawer. I like the ease of default launcher.

      • That is cool, but not enough for me. Too used to stock since I've been running Android Ones and Nexuss (nexi?) For years.

Double tapping the status bar is good enough. Has to be for the above reasons.

  • Bought one at the last deal, so far very happy with it. Great phone!

Although my biggest complaint is the battery life can be rather lacking, sometimes not lasting a full day with medium to high use. This is partly redeemed with the fast charging capability though.

  • Hi guys, ive got a S7 Edge, is this a decent upgrade or shall i stick with the Samsung ?

    • I went from a s8 and consider this an upgrade.

      • Just wondering what do u like the v30 most given s8 is also a sd835 class phone? Cheers

        • Bigger screen, wide screen camera, 128GB built in, Dual Sim, Finger print reader location, Feels faster. My S8 was laggy.

  • I have returned my unit to MobileCiti as there is a bad pixel that refuses to shut when viewing black image, not a very bright bleeding but non the less shouldn't happen for a brand new unit. Hopefully MobileCiti's sales support is as good as their ebay rating(100%). will report back how i went.
