That's a great whisky however it a little overpriced. A couple of years ago there was a $50 special at First Choice. Unfortunately, none since.

    • I hope you stocked up at that price!

I found this to be fairly underwhelming. That said I tried it alongside several other scotches at the time which can make the least best scotch of a tasting to come across worse than it actually is.

    • Depends on your tastes. I quite enjoy it as a mild, smooth whisky.

  • I haven't tried Dalwhinnie personally. I'm still on the fence about purchasing. Next on the list was Talisker 10!. I wonder if anyone has compared this to Glenmorangie 10 (I'm not a fan).

This is much smoother then Glenmorangie.
But if Talisker is on your list, them go for that.

This is the sort of scotch I'd give a new scotch drinker (well new to malts/not mixed). It's fairly inoffensive, but smoother then many around this price.

Talisker is next level, I want in-your-face flavour and I want it now! If you get what I mean?

      • Thanks.I tried Talisker 10 the other night and thought it was great. I think the only thing to do is grab both!

Glad that it's smoother than Glenmorangie. I found their 10 year old expression too hot on the finish. Much preferred the Aberlour 12 DW, Green Label and Oban 14.

        I'm relatively new to scotch

        • Of you found that too got, don't try any cask strength bottles for a long while.

  • Thanks, got 2 bottles :-)

  • Whisky and pizza are both down to personal taste. We've all got our favourites and best places :-)

    • Anchovies and pineapple for me!

  • This is whisky nothing special. Personal taste and opinion of course, but I've tried a lot of scotch and found this one pretty average.

    • Mind sharing what your favourites are?

      • Sure thing :) Obviously there's super expensive ones, but below is keeping things within reason. No particular order.

Caol Ila Moch & 12 Year
Benromach 10 & 15 Year (this stuff is awesome and not as well known)
Laphroaig (of course, especially if you like it peaty)
        Ledaig 10 Year (or above)
        Lagavulin 16 Year
Hibiki 12 Year (currently too expensive due to shortage)
Oban (fairly standard, but a great choice)
Arbelour 12 Year (not the most amazing, but good value and very smooth)
        Jura Superstition
Sheep Dip (a great blend option, but don't think you can get it here)

Open a new account with Boozebud, bottle of this costs $80, add something else worth $20 to get the order over $100, then you get $25 off and free shipping. So works out slightly cheaper plus you're getting something else for nothing.
