The Lost Dogs Home are offering free adult cat adoption (normally $115) and half price kitten adoption $112.50 (normally $225).
The adoption fee helps to cover the cost for desexing, vaccinating, microchipping, flea treating and worming your new pet. All dogs and cats available for adoption undergo a thorough heath and temperament test from a qualified veterinarian and the Home’s behavioural department before adoption. Dogs are heartworm checked and cats are FIV tested.
Note that while adoption is free, cats can live up to 20 years. The Lost Dogs home have estimated they can cost on average $1,722/year. However, that doesn't factor in getting food & litter when there are deals on and also is more factored to outdoor cats (e.g. flee treatments, vaccines etc.) Indoor cats will be way cheaper (probably only a $500 or so a year for food + litter).
