I got a bottle when it was cheap at first Choice at Christmas.

Actually really like it. I've had all the colours over the last 6 months, most of them just taste like black, this one was the only different one.

      Same here.
I Thoguht green was better though.

This is the same one from first choice decemebe right????

Seems to be a few versions or names for gold

      • Stranger is 18yr and platinum which is also 18yr.
Have no idea if there is a difference.

    • What did you think of Green Label? I think I tried it once and enjoyed it over black or double black, but haven't really gotten around to trying it again and honestly can't remember if it was green or another colour.

Green was pretty good yeah. Prob my fav after the gold.
Gold and green both the best.

        • Thanks. Now to track down a bottle of Green too…

Green is vatted while the others are not ( i have no idea what that means)
also green doenst contain grain whiskies in its blend (once again I dont know what that means)

i found green to be smoother that gold, only marginally , and just tasted a bit more delicate,

I put my sober drinking mindset and tried them both blind folded and assumed both cost the same,
and I would prefer the green

        my personal opinion

        • Thanks - yeah that seems like the one I'm after. Read in the Gold Label description that they're phasing it (Green Label) out too, I better find a bottle quick.

          • @HighAndDry: where did it say that? they discontintued it for a few years until a few years ago and then brought it back,

if they are really discontiniuning it I will buy a few cases

@Samsungnote10: From the description on the eBay listing:

The new addition of the Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve into the Johnnie Walker family is marked by the removal of the 15 Year Old Green Label and the 18 Year Old Platinum Label.

Though that could be from a few years ago before they brought the Green back? I can't seem to find many Green Labels for sale on eBay though.

Edit: Nope - I'm wrong, plenty in stock from BWS and Dan Murphys.

Almost finished my first gold ever - yes smooth, but green for the feel of it. Personal taste, but I want to know I’m drinking a scotch.

Green does that, even better the original green before they stopped it, still rockin two 1ltrs (1.125) of them - just can’t bring myself to open.

Still if someone gave me a gold again, I’d be happy.

        • still rockin two 1ltrs (1.125) of them

I was just on eBay - those are going for $400+. That'd be an expensive drink…

EEEP - they are the 1ltr I have….hmmmmmmm - I thought they were 1.125….whoa, now I can never bring myself to drink them!

My favourite is green, even better than blue IMO. Not a fan of gold.

  • I really don't see the appeal for green. I had a bottle and it was a very boring whisky with little character and barely any finish. I also have gold and it's OK. I'd put it equal in terms of taste. Blue, to me, is still the best out of the Walkers I've tried, though at a ridiculous price, it's not worth it. For $5 more, I'd go to Aldi and get a Laphroaig.
