  • I’m glad a mod came in and added the $195 annual fee, which wasn’t mentioned by the OP.

  • If signing up better hope you get your points quick, otherwise after April 15 you get 50% value

  • half value points no deal
by the time you get the card and bonus points they are worth half as much
    RIP amex

Yeah they're taking the sledgehammer to the card. The points devalue is one of the worst and there not offering compensation.

The problem is that by the time you'd get the bonus, the points devalue would have happened, so it's only a 15k sign up Bonus, which is tiny compared to other deals.

When I got this card it was a $149 annual fee with a return virgin trip and upto 3 Frequent flyer points per dollar spent. Then they upped the fee to 199,after that got rid of the virgin flight and replaced with this worse travel credit and now they're halving the points (including on previous spend). The card is now a quarter of its previous value.

yep ive transferred all my points out and cancelling

      • I'd been waiting to be eligible for another sign up bonus before picking up a high bonus card, then applying for this one… but sadly, as you say, they've destroyed the value of the card so there's not much incentive to get any of theirs right now.

      • I just checked my fee and they charged me $149 in December but still get $200 credit.

When did they up your fee?

        • You must have a Professional society (CPA, union etc) version. They still charge $149 for those ones.

  • I had this card and cancelled it. Not worth annual fee anymore in my opinion.

Sign up bonus would be the only reason for applying. No point in holding after 4/15.

Also, considering Sign Up Bonus for Explorer is way higher 10k and you can only get either that or this, get Explorer instead.

  • For $195 annual fee you should be aiming at minimum 75000 bonus points… Much better deals are currently available…

  • hows this deal compare to a refferal?

    • Via a Referral link it is 10k for the person referred, and 15k for the referrer.

  • I have this card at the moment I will be cancelling soon, AMEX always had great service but compared to the virgin return flights domestically for a smaller annual fee, it's just not worth it anymore.
