Nintendo Switch/Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundle $399 (+ Delivery or in Store) @ Harvey Norman

1240

First post. Consolation prize for missing out on Amazon at first sight but turns out it's an even better deal if you were already planning on getting Mario Kart.

N.B. "GAMESCENTRAL" will decrease the discount, unfortunately.

Mod Note:

Still available if you order all the items seperately. It will apply the discount and bring it down to $399.

Thanks for this. Managed to get one aswell after my last one " disappeared" from my cart when the page expired. Take those +1's my good friend.

    • Showing $410.49 here after adding separately and placing the code.

      • Placing the code increases the price

    • I went into the store and told them about this. They had run out of stock of the joy con wheel so they just took the price of it off the total ending up in me getting the switch and mario kart for $380.

    • No longer working

  • +5

    Tell them the price son!!!

  • Price in title please :)

  • Fantastic price!! Hoping Amazon matches because HN looks like its OOS?

    • Preston still has stock otherwise they deliver for $20 or you can order from a store and I assume they'll let you know when stock comes in?

      • EDIT: Pick-up is readily available (contradicting the product page stock checker). You can also check each item separately and they are all readily in stock for me.

    • +1

Showing more than enough stock for me (and OzB terms) when you actually go through checkout and select your pickup store location.

Not sure how long it'll last but if anyone wants a switch this is definitely a good deal.

      • thanks for this
        gonna give it a try

  • +3

If you are able to actually buy this, it will definitely be one of the better switch deals we've had in a while going back to Black Friday.

Considering Mario kart easily sells on eBay for $70+, you've essentially got a Switch for $329. Then just rebuy the game for $65 on Amazon and save a few more $$$ like a true OzBargainer.

The wheel grips though are kinda worthless as there's so many cheap alternatives available, so no resell opportunity there to bring the price down further.

    • Has been $380 with MK for BF.

      • +2

Hence the term, "one of the better switch deals we've had in a while".

Considering how long it's been since then, it's probably the best time to buy for those that want one soon, otherwise I'd definitely wait to see if anything will happen around EOFY if we want a historical low.

  • +2

Great bargain if you’ve bought some discount gift cards from the amex offer

  • -1

Look every where for further discounts of any type this store is tight A$$ . No cash back no discount cards . Needed the extra 5 % to fire no deal for me : (

    • +2

Seriously? Minus the game itself the console is like 340…Which is almost 30 dollars cheaper than Amazon and TGG this morning. You'd have to be getting like 10% discount/cashback to get it on par…

    • See my comment earlier, this is definitely the best we've had since Black Friday. Would be silly to avoid this under the impression of it being too expensive (assuming you actually want to get a Switch.

Sell the game and you've got a switch for ~$329.

Whenever the standalone console comes anywhere near that price it gets OzBargained in a matter of hours.

Edit: And there we go, OzBargained within 2 hours of the deal being posted…

      • -1

I doubt you'll be able to sell the game for $60 let alone $70. I can pick it up for $65 from Amazon delivered to my door, I'd have to go out my way and travel to a seller for a $5 saving which isn't worth it since I'd probably spend nearly as much getting there not to mention the time commitment.

        • -1

You'll be surprised how many people buy straight from eBay rather than looking at other options like Amazon.

At the time of writing that comment, the cheapest brand new copy of Mario kart from Australia was $74, and that listing has been consistently selling. Listing our copy for $70 would be a quick and guaranteed sale.

I've been doing this consistently with all my PS4 games, and have been using this eBay anomaly to effectively buy a game brand new from places like Amazon, and then sell it on eBay after finishing it to either break even or make a profit. I bought Spiderman brand new for ~$39 a while back and then sold it after completing the game for $45. Other games I've done similar with are batman, ratchet and Clank, horizon zero Dawn, among others.

As such the only games I've actually "lost" money on are those I've bought to consistently play (ie. Multiplayer games like FIFA and Rocket League.)

Also not too sure what you mean about travelling to a seller. All it involves is dropping off a game at one of the many postboxes you undoubtedly pass at some point (which also goes through as a letter so no excessive postage fee either).

          • @Shekster: Not true, about it being $74 at the time of writing. https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/Nintendo-Mario-Kart-8-Deluxe/… As you can see MK8 has been consistently at $65 for a few months, rarely going above that to $69 and has actually never hit $74 on Amazon AU.

eBay charges insertion and final value fees, at $70+postage it'd be around $~7 according to eBay(https://sellercentre.ebay.com.au/selling-fees/quick-view). I thought you were talking about gumtree since you didn't account for said fees which is why I assumed you needed to meet up with them.

I seriously don't understand why anyone would pay $70+postage for a second-hand game when you can pick up for the same or even less than that brand new from a reputable store but if it works for you then, that's great.

            • -1

@Audisez: Mate I've clearly been talking about eBay this whole time. i.e $74 on eBay.

List on weekend = $1 fee

Not sure where you got gumtree from as I clearly mentioned eBay.

And again if you actually read properly you'd see it's $74 for a brand new game…

For any more questions please read through the actual comments properly.

              • -2

@Shekster: Mate you clearly did not say that, don't blame me for not explaining yourself properly. To quote: " the cheapest brand new copy of Mario Kart from Australia was $74". You also never said eBay in your original post so how about you get some writing comprehension skills before calling people out on their reading comprehension.

                • +1

@Audisez: Mate… Not sure if you're just trolling or actually didn't properly read my comments (for yet another time by the looks of it).

"You also never said eBay" - The 'original post' of mine you refer to isn't my first comment first of all. Again, if you actually read it properly, it starts off with "See my comment earlier".

Now reading that, any person with basic 'reading comprehension' would logically think that they should, in fact, see my comment earlier. Now if one were to do such a thing, they would then see the 2nd sentence of my first comment states "Considering Mario kart easily sells on eBay for $70+, you've essentially got a Switch for $329." This sets the first precedent of the usage of eBay which is then referred to later on.

Another funny thing which again highlights your lack of "reading comprehension" is when you talked about MK8D being "consistently at $65 for a few months". This is due to the fact that I literally stated in my original comment (which you, unfortunately, failed to read), to "… just rebuy the game for $65 on Amazon and save a few more $$$ like a true OzBargainer. So I clearly already knew what the price was at Amazon and hence would not possibly be talking about it being $74 there, as well as the simple fact I was clearly talking about eBay as well.

I'd like to finish with my own rendition of a quote I once read; "How about you get some reading comprehension skills before calling people out on their writing comprehension."

                  • -1

@Shekster: Mate, do you know what clearly means? Clearly would be to say "Cheapest on Ebay" not "Cheapest in Australia". That's not clear at all, it literally means in any store in Australia. The only time you even mention ebay and Amazon before I made that post was in a completely different comment chain. The part where your quoting isn't even in the same comment chain mate, how is it logical to refer to that, earlier can be interpreted as your other post which was also posted "earlier" where you did not say you refer to Amazon and Ebay.

  • Managed to order one earlier. Thanks OP. Was disappointed in missing out on the Amazon one but an extra $40ish for Mario and the wheels are great. Just hope the fulfill the order.

  • Great! I managed to order one even half an hour ago. Thanks op!!

  • Does shipster works with HN, right?
I don't know why it doesn't work with this order..

    • Shipping cost has to be $20 or less

      • I understand now. thanks for let me know this.

  • Awesome!

  • So the bundle has 2 joy con wheel grips whilst ordering individually only gets you one?

  • Can't get to page now on link.

    • read the post carefully

      • Comes up with $410.50 when I do it. Random stock available at different stores.

        • +1

Don’t apply the code. Should come down to 399

      • I did read it properly. Look at @ohman's comment below. If you were successful in ordering the bundle, you would have got TWO joycon wheels.
        https://i.postimg.cc/fymrR4t2/joycon.jpg
If you order the items separately, you would only get ONE. If you try to add 2 to your cart, the discount disappears.

        • When the link OP posted first worked the bundle would only include those 3 items anyways, so I would just assume it comes with 2 and it would be still treated as the bundle

          • @mkheav: It does not come with 2 wheels in the box. I have called 2 stores to confirm there is just a single wheel in the box for $19.95

            • @concento: The website says it comes with two wheels, they did only give me one. I have to contact HN why the bundle only added one wheel to the bundle.
here is the website screenshot https://i.postimg.cc/4xSv6rZW/www-harveynorman-com-au-ninten… I got from before they removed the page

              • @ohman: Tried arguing and they pulled the'need to see actual website' bs on me and I was like there's like 3 pieces of evidence here. Then claimed it was a 'mistake'. Ended up not even giving me a deal on Smash which I bought separately even though I was like thats the least you could do.

                • @currentfad: I bought the deal with the separate items, so in the order it says only one wheel. I just got a call today that my order was ready to pick up and that in fact it would be coming with two wheels! I never mentioned this to them so it seems other customers complained enough that they're keeping with the original bundle of two wheels.

                  • @natnandos: I was actually able to order the bundle before they took it off the website and it still only included 1 wheel on the order. I tried reaching out to the live chat to see what they could do and they said someone would be in touch with me. 2 days and still no word!

                    Lucky you! :)

  • Just when at HN search switch put in 3 items OP says still works :)

Problem for me is no HN pickup nearby , postage too much $27 - $28 .

  • Lots of probs with the other post about back orders and cancellations. Anyone pick there's up already?

  • In the end fire 2 separate order's and I expect what Juice is saying about cancellations to happen . Lets see .

    • Hi profar, how do you make a separate order?

  • Got my ready to pickup email.

    • awesome. if you can pick up it's an amazing deal.

~$406 (console and game) after Shopback if bought from Amazon yesterday so $6 for postage if you can't pick up but also no steering wheel.

  • +1

thanks got matched the game and console for 399 at jbhifi

    • The link is down, how did you do it?

    • Same here! I also bought Oddysey from JB Hifi as well for $49 as the only HN is out of stock for all the items.

    • Even though out of store stock?

      • Can still add all items to HN checkout and show discount. And can still order with delivery. So assuming we can just go instore to JB and show HN checkout with total price $399?

    • can you upload photo of receipt please so we can all get that price match my jbhifi wont price match as the joy con is a discountinued item at their store

  • Just ordered one!

  • +1

Did you know it comes with two Mariokart JoyCon?
Here is what I see in the bundle description https://i.postimg.cc/fymrR4t2/joycon.jpg

  • Hi profar, how do you make a separate order?

Me and wife name , think better than me firing 2 times in my name :)

  • Just tried matching this at jb, in Westfield Knox they were saying they couldn't match it because it was a bundle. Went to camberwell instead and they matched it fine, game plus console for 399 as they don't have the joy con wheel.

  • +1

This was SO helpful! We went in store today and purchased a Nintendo Switch for $399 with no idea of this bargain. Was pretty happy with the price until I checked on here and saw this offer. I immediately screen shot the cart and discount and called the store I purchased at and asked them to honor the deal. After a bit of a wait on hold, as they had not heard of the deal either, they came back and said that YES they would honor the deal and I can go in tomorrow and pick up my (essentially free) copy of Mario Kart and they will put the controller on back order. Absolutely thrilled with this. Thank you for sharing OP!

  • +1

Great thanks to the OP, my son was all ready to go into JB this morning and pay almost $600 for the same things, ordered this morning using click and collect with HN and managed to find a store 30mins drive away with all in stock, picked up and now a happy 14 year old (which doesnt happen much these days!!! )

  • Oh wow this is very tempting

  • +1

Picked one up today, thanks OP!
Don't expect this deal to last much longer though. The person at Harvey Norman I spoke to was asking how I found this deal and that they're actually losing money from it. So if you're sitting on the fence, now might be the time to buy.

  • Looks like this deal is gone now? I get a "We can't find the page you're looking for, but we want to help you find it." page for the bundle, and no mention of it anywhere on the site (and no discounts applied). Darn, that didn't last long :(

    • +1

Not yet. still working. you need to add the items manually to the cart.

      • Ohhh, it doesn't work for the grey one, only the neon one :(

  • Tried price match at JB Hi-Fi Roselands and Bankstown with no luck 😢

  • so people getting it from JB via price match…. you don't care they don't have the joy con wheel?

$399 for the console and MK8 is good value though! but would rather the wheels as well considering.

    • i dont think ill ever use it so i didnt mind not getting it.

  • just picked up a switch and MK8 for $399 at JB Pitt St! thanks OP.

  • Expired D: I was on the site last night and went to try match it somewhere else today only to find out it’s ended

    • I got mine price matched today. I had to go to 4 different JB Stores. 2x Denied on the phone, 1x Denied in store (loganholme, guy was a real PoS.)

Browns Plains were happy to do it for me over the phone and picked up.
