OMG this has been duped 3 times now!

    • +1

No it isn't. A deal that was posted three days ago and is retrospectively updated due to a rolling promotion can be easily missed. A new deal is easily justified and isnt against the rules.

      • -2

erm yes it is, the other two where removed because there WERE a duplicate, its part of the same ea steam sale!

        stupid report button not working!

        the deal posted
        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/44100
is for the steam week sale…

Really resisting the urge to comment on the stupidity of some people!!

        • I'll let the ozbargainers decide then. So far they appear to disagree with you.

        • +4

The point we are trying to make is that not everyone is going to go back and check that old deal every day. If we were going to do that then we might as well just go directly to the steam website. I think you can basically treat each day as a new deal because the old ones are retired and new ones are implemented.

        • Well I saw it first here on OzBargain, really appreciate it and went and bought it on my Steam account.

Its new because the information wasnt available UNTIL TODAY.

          I appreciate it.

what's the harm in having it come up as a new deal? when the original deal was posted, nobody knew what the deal would be each day. this one makes it come to the top of the list again.

      • +1

that's my logic too… but the mods will remove it anyway and claim its a dupe. i think its stupid but its happened all week. someone shouldn't be allowed to post a week long deal where something new is there each day… i like it better seeing whats new in the new deals rather than trying to find an old post someone may or may not update.

        • you do have a point, but now that you know about the sale, you can go to the steam store every day and check it out for yourself if you don't want to search for /bookmark the old thread.

        • -1

I agree with wisc. This should not be a new thread.

The other thread clearly states that the games on offer are revised every 24 hours. If you want to know the revised offer, you are fully aware that you should be checking steam yourself.

If every store was allowed to have a thread for every day of a sale, you would never find anything on ozbargain, it'd all be buried 10 pages in, minimum.

Not using threads for things like this means you can find the info on… lets see… PAGE 2. Very easily found.

Worse yet, using new threads in that way creates a position where a store that was intending to have (for example) 7 items discounted every day for 7 days, now finds it BETTER to have 7 items discounted on 7 different days. Which means you just lost your buying opportunities for zero gain (you have one day to purchase instead of seven.. which makes me think of the kind of advertising/business model that allows crap like COTD to exist).

Exceptions are for very limited circumstances..

        • Yep, I'm sure Steam will go, omg ozbargain posted this on Monday, so we will need to go change our Worldwide marketing strategy.
If against the ozb TOS, I'm sorry, I have never read them, & don't intend to.
But YELLING in CAPS gets attention, so just wanted to say thanks for the post. Hadn't seen this, would probably have missed it due to being Fri nite & was after this game.
Anyway, mod away, off to purchase.

        • Wasn't talking about steam in that "worse yet" comment mate. Of course steam doesnt care about us. To steam, we are too small.

However, there are companies that actually focus on ozbargain as a special way of advertising and selling. I'm not suggesting we are the only place that they think about or advertise on. But we do get "ozbargain only" specials. The reps for those companies tend to be pretty good at playing fair, usually we only get repetitive advertising threads from offshore owned chinese junk stores.

If ozbargain were bigger, it would be quite a temptation to stores like Big W, to whom australia is their customer base.

Continuing with the Big W example, we have both reps and users posting threads. Even reps are duping users threads. Its getting really messy in here as a result.

        • The beauty of ozbargain is that it is peer reviewed by the community and thereby the community can decide what is considered a reasonable or unreasonable post. If you want to stand up on your soapbox and scream about some sort of technicality in the rules then that is your choice do so. Old deals that are updated retrospectively are easy to miss hence why I posted this one.

If we vote wisc down enough maybe the mods will get the hint. =P

        lol, b'stard :P

  • Sold! I have been meaning to buy this for PS3 when it comes down in price .. but for $10 this is a steal.

  • I asked in the other thread but has anyone bought the digital deluxe version? Is it worth the extra money?

    • +1

Personally I wouldn't bother. Would you pay an extra $10 for this? It doesn't include any DLCs.

      • Collector Armor and Assault Rifle - Two bonus in-game items: advanced regeneration armor and a powerful enemy-shredding assault rifle.
      • Incisor Rifle - Bonus in-game weapon. Firing three shots with each pull of the trigger, the Incisor Rifle is designed to decimate shields.
      • Original Soundtrack - The Mass Effect 2 original soundtrack features 12 pieces spanning the entire Mass Effect 2 experience.
      • Digital Art Book* - The art book contains 48 pages of stunning full color artwork including captions from the Mass Effect 2 team.
      • Digital Mass Effect Redemption #1 comic* - Redemption follows Liara T’Soni’s dangerous mission to find Commander Shepard.
      • Documentary Video* - Featuring behind-the-scenes and making-of videos, the Mass Effect 2 documentary takes a look at how the game was made.
      • I hate games that make you pay $$$ for bonuses in game… eg the rifles and Armour seem like a purchasable item, just another way to extort extra cash for little effort.

DLC is debatable… not overly keen on it as they should be included in the origional, or as a free add on (as they used to be) but can see the developers putting in extra work to come up with side missions/side stories, (like they do in borderlands)

        • +2

If the DLC is extensive like a proper expansion pack I am glad to pay for it but not for some extra items or skins that don't really add much to the game.

      • The Firepower pack is the only weapon DLC worth getting. Mattock rifle — best AR ever.

  • Even Amazon is getting in on the EA action, with Mass Effect 2 Standard reduced to $7.99 USD..

    http://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-2-Game-Download/dp/B00452V…

You can buy Amazon games, just make sure that you're only registered address is a real US address (even if you have no idea what the address is, etc)..

I have no idea if Amazon supplies you with a cd key that can be used with EADM (and Steam won't be able use it, regardless).

    • Be careful with steamworks games purchased from Amazon. Some of them are region locked to the US which sounds unheard of but is true. Some people who bought Mafia 2 through Amazon's last promotion could only activate it using a VPN.

      • I've never said anything about Steamworks and have no idea how you read into it that I did say its activatable on steam (even when i clearly said it cannot be used on steam)..

        • My mistake, somehow I thought that ME2 used steamworks. That appears to be incorrect
