      Gotta love Biowares price gouging.

  • What's strange is that Origins in cheaper in Aus but Ultimate edition is not compared to the US prices.

  • +2

DA origins was a sweet game but DA2….not even sure if that's worth $20

    • Not even sure it's worth $10. That game was rushed and is a disgrace to the Dragon Age series.

Time to play the waiting game……
meh the waiting game sucks lets play hungry hungry hippos!
    $10bucks for Hot Pursuit
    $6.80 for Shift
    2.50 for Undercover.

  • $10 for Hot Pursuit, heck yeah.

    • Wth, I didn't even realise it was $19.99 to begin with. That dropped in price quick.

  • +1

Seriously want Hot Pursuit but I'm still trying to factor in my 35GB worth of downloads for the GTA Games in an earlier Steam deal haha.

    • I got the GTA IV Collection too, it's over half my download quota!

      • you don't have free steam from your ISP?
        I feel sorry for you!

        • +1

Bigpond apparently hosts Steam content and does not meter downloads from their content servers. However, I have never been able to download from their two servers - even by blocking all others. It sucks - a lot.

  • Who would buy NFS:Shift 1 instead of getting the Shift 2 with the same content(tracks/cars) with better graphics, night racing and more cars? :/

    • +7

Who would buy NFS:Shift 1 instead of getting the Shift 2 with the same content(tracks/cars) with better graphics, night racing and more cars? :/

      Need for Speed: Shift (US$6.80)
      http://store.steampowered.com/app/24870

      Shift 2 Unleashed (US$79.99)
      http://store.steampowered.com/app/47920

I can think of ~73 reasons.

      • You can get it for $35 for the CD Key and download it from EA Downloader.
And online gaming doesn't require steam to work.

  • Hot Pursuit is showing as $14.99 for me… is this the cost in AUD?

    • +2

Sounds like you are looking at the U.S. store.

One of the rare times we get it cheaper.

      • Really? Strange. It seems to add it to my cart as $14.99.

Come to think about it, I was living in the US when I first signed up for Steam. Perhaps I have a US Account? I have made purchases since moving back to Australia.

Can I switch it to Australian, or would that be unadvisable given that it's always cheaper to buy from US?

        • +1

You could try purchasing from the Australian Store: http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=au

        • Awesome, thanks. Just bought the game from the Australian Store. Went through fine.

I wonder if I would be able to buy other cheaper games from the US Store, or if it will give me issues?

        • Not sure. When making a purchase the store checks your IP address location and credit card location (changing these enables buying from other Steam stores). You may be able to buy from either store, shouldn't hurt to try.

  • EA is getting better and better in my book. Activision on the other hand…

I ask myself this question: Do I REALLY need more games to add to my huge list of games I've bought but yet to play?

Usually I'd buy this in an instant. But I think I'll pass this time as I've come to realise that impulse buying is not a healthy habit. Seeing the list of games I've bought but yet to play just stresses me out lol. Makes completing games seem more like a task and takes away from the enjoyment one should get when playing a good game. 10-15 years ago for example, if I was given a game as a present, that'd be the only game I'd get in at least 6 months so I'd play it to death and try and get everything I could out of that game. Now days, I play a game and once finished I'm like "phew, that's one less game on the list".

Back then though (I'm talking about the 90's) there was of course less game exposure, so one couldn't be easily pushed into buying games. With the internet and everything digital now though, games are everywhere.

    Sorry, I needed to vent.

    • +1

Great post. I've got about 20 games I've yet to even install, let alone play on my Steam account. I'll be staying away from most steam deals for a while I think.

    • +3

Heh I completely understand. I'm the same, but my big problem is that now that I have the disposable income to blow on all these games, I never have the actual time to play them. But really, that's all part of growing up.

On a plus side though, I don't tend to feel too bad about it because I never pay that much for the games in the first place, so even if I only get a little play out of them for the price, it's almost the same as when I used to rent them from the local video shop, except with the added advantage of owning it and being able to go back whenever I want.

    • +1

I can relate to this 100%. Having more games is a curse, not a blessing! It really is about less is more. I maybe got 1-2 new games a year when I was younger, now with all these sales and my higher disposable income I can buy multiple games every week and probably never have time to play them.

  • thanks… I nearly bought Hot Pursuit for $25 elsewhere.

  • Just grabbed Hot Pursuit for around $9 AUD.

Me 2…must be selling like Hot (Pursuit) Cakes.

A really unexciting Sims deal on today :(

Hopefully Mass Effect 1 and 2 will go on sale later this week. :)

      Your wish is my command

      • Thank you kind stranger!

Now can you work on giving me unmetered internet to download these games? :P

  • +1

I don't understand the difference between the US and AUS store. They seem to be the same price-wise and the only difference I can see if that the AU site specifically says USD as the currency where the US site doesn't. Don't you still buy the same games, in USD for the same price? Is my small sample too limited, are the prices in the US site usually cheaper than the AU site?

    • +1

couldn't agree more…pretty retarded developers CHOOSE to charge Australia's more, i boycott the companies that do, voting with my $$$ and hope other people will as well, the only way they will realize is when they loose our money

actually had a rant about it here too:
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/40764

the sims is HALF price in the US, (before and after the sale) pre sale: 40 dollars vs 80!
      http://www.steamprices.com/au/search?sims

i use steamprices each time i purchase a game to ensure i'm not getting ripped off.

      • Thanks for the link to steamprices. Handy!

  • Awesome Mass Effect Deals today! Anyone who has not played them needs to fork out the $15 to buy both of them. If you don't you are seriously missing out.

    • Is the digital deluxe version worth the extra money ?

    • Sure hope ME2 is hosted on an Australian server! Good deal though, even get change from a tenner given our exchange rate =]

My mate's been bugging me to play this for ages, maybe I'll finally give in :p

  • They got Crysis now… Is it worth it to buy? Can you play Crysis 1 in multiplayer?

    • im buying it for the single player. pretty cheap

  • Yes, there is multiplay but the question is, how many wallhakers and aimbots there to destroy the game. I mainly play lfd dor that trason.

  • Dead space 1 looks ok and for $3.95 is probably worth a shot but I have already spent too much in this sale.
Dead space 2 looks a little over the top for me and for $42 it's not nearly cheap enough to give it a shot.

    • DS1 is a good deal but DS2 is cheaper elsewhere for a hard copy.
