Great! I'll grab two and get two S10s.

      • This is pretty cool really, considering 4K televisions original pricing, won't be too long before you can buy an 8K 75" for like $3000. :D

        • how much were 4k tv at release? for 55/65?

  • +1

I don’t see a section to preorder the tv it’s only showing a competition

  • +1

^ No native 8K content is currently available. Picture quality of upscaled content will vary depending on the quality and resolution of source content.

    Oops

    • +10

I'll just stream 8k content on my NBN

      • Good luck, i already saturate my 100mbps connection with a single 4k blu-ray, can't imagine what 8k is going to take.

    • Youtube has 8K videos but they're pretty rare. Don't know of any actual content that's available in 8K however, and especially not full bitrate bluray FUHD.

    • I'm sure they will work on new codecs to reduce files sizing. VP10 Dalaa Thir AV1 NTVC etc

  • +7

Would love to watch me some 7mate on one of these bad boys.

    • +3

No you won't fully appreciate what 8k has to offer. Need to play something like Atari on it to get the full experience.

      • +4

        7mate / Atari, same thing?

  • Tbh, I am not sure if the 8K image quality would make a massive difference when you sit away from it at a certain distance (esp. for a 65") in comparison to a 4K TV.
However the advantages of its release is that the 4K TV's will plummet in price.

I'm sure that the 8K image would be breathtaking regardless

    • yep when browsing 80 megapixels photos =)

      • +1

80 Mpixels looks like 40 Mpixels @ 2m away unless you want to remove your eye-balls and stick them on the screen :P

        • What about at 4m away?

          • @owwreally: Then get a 4K faux-projector and watch it 4m away @ 120" like me. I love it, esp with 4K gaming.

            I have the ~ $2K BenQ W1700 4k faux-projector and I can say that I would not waste $10K for a puny 8K 65" TV just for the wow-factor :P

Having said this, if Samsung says to me I can have it for $3K, I wouldn't say no.

            Cheers

This TV is like buying a Ferrari to drive in peakhour traffic…

    • +1

Except that you can't take it out on the weekends either.

      • +6

But you can invite people over to whoa at it.

  • Thought this was a good deal until I saw the prices

  • +1

Same happen with 4k at the start, it was at least two years before anything become mainstream, by then the standards changed and early adopters were left out in the cold.

  • +3

    Nah I'll wait on 16k TV's thanks.

  • +3

If i cancel the pre-order later do i need to give the phone back?

  • I honestly thought that 8k was great after seeing it in action in Japan.
But there is F-all content. There is F-all free to air broadcasting. There is F-all 8k discs… F-all 8k players. F-all 8k streaming services.

Furthermore, with 4k we have 4k players and discs. Also ONE 4k television channel exclusive on Foxtel. We have F-all free to air 4k television broadcasting. Just a little 4k streaming services..

4k is just taking off. For those buying 8k this year are wasting their money. But I guess at those prices, they probably can afford to.

      Here goes the broken record

Colour you dont need colour, there is no colour content, everything is filmed in black and white

1080p you dont need 1080p there is no 1080p content, VHS and TV only have 480i/480p/576i/576p resolution

4k you dont need 4k there is no 4k content, DVD and TV only have 1080i/1080p resolution

      • -2

        Still sounds about correct.
Until there is content early adopters will pay more for basically nothing extra.

        • +4

Not really the case, Upscaling now days looks really good.

Thats like saying dont buy a Xbox X or PS4 Pro for 4K as all the games are still 720p up scaled to 4k

I still remember the upscaling of my old pioneer dvd from 480p to 1080p looked good

          • -3

            @asa79: And I wouldn't buy a Xbox X or PS4 pro as the premium doesn't warrant it over the s or PS4.
            But everyone is different.

            • +3

@dasher86: That is not an answer

You wouldnt be buying anything from a large manufacture as premium margins are always large, so not sure why your even looking at this post

              • -1

@asa79: I'm not trying to give a technical response, im trying to explain that from a value proposition on a bargain website that being an early adopter isn't worth the $.
1080p to me plays the same as 4k on my Xbox.

                • +1

                  @dasher86: So your just trolling

If it wasn't a bargain then it would of been voted down

                  • @asa79: It's a lot easier to +vote then -negative vote on this website.
As you see I didn't vote because this deal does not apply to me.
Calling me a troll is a bit harsh just because I have a difference of opinion to yourself.
Pricing for TVs weren't listed. So I clicked to understand the overall value proposition of getting a free S10+.
I have now updated title to reflect from pricing.

      • My question to you is that would you spend $10 for a 65" 8K TV?
And if your answer is "yes" then what would you use it for apart from a PC monitor viewing 80 Mpixel files/images as per another poster?

        • People will buy the fancy new TV to show them off. Like the old huge CRT TV that took up a quarter of room and cost more then that back in the day

  • +10

I do need a new TV and the wife also needs a new phone, but this is an expensive deal once I factor in the divorce costs.

    • LOL!

    • I think that you won't even get a TV factoring divorce costs :P

      • He be lucky enough to come out of that with the shirt on his back.

    • +1

Look at short term costs vs long term costs, the divorce might be cheaper 😁

Ps don’t tell Mrs Raccoon I said that….

  • Waiting for 16K.

    • +1

      64K or GTFO.

  • +1

Don't even have 4K yet…. Might be time to start shopping for some deals..

    • +1

I think the Flintstones want their TV back..

      • Amazingly 720 is more than acceptable

  • As far as I’m aware there’s no current easy to say to watch 8k content. I’m pretty sure streaming apps like YouTube don’t support it yet, there are no broadcasts, and very little content other than test content, which you’d have to have on a computer linked through HDMI.

  • +1

Hope OLED 4K TV price drop faster.

  • Link not working.

  • Ordered.

    • Congrats.
      What size did you get?
      Cheers

    • +1

      Rich people use OzB?

  • +1

    I’ll just get 4 60” 4K oled screens and have a 120” 16k screenfor the same money /jk
