dammit i paid 20c more than this the other day at 40L, so 8 BUX OUT OF MY POCKET NOOOOOOOO

    • +2

Lock in now and fill 2x 20L jerry cans for next time. Total loss $4 (assuming you already have 2x 20l jerry cans)

      • Good way to cut your loss

  • Damn, is there a way I can cancel my current fuel lock, did it today

    • +5

Fill up 2L, use the app at the current fuel lock price to pay for the 2L. Then lock in the new price, fill up the rest of the 48L ;)

      • Thanks mate, forget it resets when used

    • +32

I would normally agree, but having them on the main page on OzB means I/we don’t miss these deals. That thread is very messy

    • +16

the hell? this deal could be saving millions of dollars for ozbargainers and you wish to not have these posted?

      • +1

        Millions of dollars? Steady on.

      • The oil companies will get ozbargain closed Down if they find out

    • -1

if you don't like than stop looking at these deals or stop using ozbargain completely.

    • You can always skip to next deal if it doesn't suit you

    • FYI, Help is located at the bottom of every page and if there is an issue with a deal, please hit the report link.

In the help, in the deal posting guidelines this is what we have about fuel:

Since fuel prices at petrol stations can fluctuate without warning, please post the latest observed fuel prices in the state-specific fuel watch threads in the Automotive forum and not as a deal. However, if there is a special promotion, such as a bigger-than-usual supermarket discount, or a special price with a defined timeframe for which the price is valid, then the promotion can be posted as a deal.

So in this case, it's a promotion that 7/11 is running at Templestowe. See this pic that someone tagged us in.

if you don't like than stop looking at these deals or stop using ozbargain completely.

  • Thanks OP saved on both accounts.

  • -5

122.9 at Port Melbourne and 121.9 at Newport?

    • +3

May have mistaken it with 91 Unleaded.

      • My bad

  • +7

took a drive on my phone

    • +3

wow, you drove over your phone!

      anger management :)

  • right on time, cheers mate

  • Thanks! Went for a drive to clear my other price lock so I can lock in

If this country wasn't based on a capitalists model, these prices shouldn't be high in the first place.

    • +10

Wow that's great insight, tell us more.

      • The private sector is ripping everyone off, it's pretty simple.

Most Australian's seem brainwashed so that they happily regurgitate neoliberal talking points that are endlessly repeated in the media such as the private sector is always cheaper, more efficient and other garbage that is easily disproved by anyone simply examining the last 25 years of privatisation.

Their own money is not important enough to acknowledge reality or switch their vote away from the two corporate tools that are doing it.

        • +5

Right, so the only alternative then is to have a country that is not "based on a capitalist model".

Seems like a poorly thought out argument to advocate for a complete change of economic system.

          • +1

@b2dz: But Mother Russia was doing so well.
None ever complained about the petrol prices back in the day. Probably because they didn't have a car. Not that you needed one to queue for bread.

        • In many, if not most, cases, private runs far more efficiently than public.

    • Fuel is extremely cheap in Australia relative to our very high income compared to the rest of the world

    • Venezuela?… https://bit.ly/2HnogdD

  • +2

Thanks OP. Saved me $15 on this fill and more when I top up next week (It was $171.9)

  • Earlier today the cheapest was 134, glad I chose to wait.

    • I didn’t… sad but at least 134 was better than 159

  • +6

Thanks. Wake up in middle of the night to take a piss and end up scoring some cheap fuel

    • Yep exactly what's happening to me right now :)

      • How was it?

        • +4

Pretty good actually. Struggling to go back to sleep though

          • @Forskin: You just wanted to jump in your car & fill up?

          • @Forskin: Same here. I spend an hour on the phone before i can get back to sleep :(

  • Thanks OP

  • -1

Gonna wait until it dives a bit more, want that sweet ass 1.109 deal

  • -4

Can you alter location to get a decent petrol price? Thanks

    • -1

Yes. See the fuel watch thread

    • +7

https://fuel.ethergroup.com.au/ . Read about it on the main thread, it's opensource so you can run it yourself if you want.

      • Been using your site for a few months freighter, Thankyou so much for the great work!!

      • Also thank you so much Freighter. This is the best!

      • Getting unknown error on website

        • Did it end up locking in?

          • @Freighter: No, this is happening at the login stage.

            • @Tony-Abbott: Odd. I just logged in perfectly fine. Could it be your email/password combination is wrong?

              • @Freighter: It was originally wrong, but then corrected it, and instead of saying incorrect details, it just says unknown error.

By saying that it's working now…

      • First time going to the above link and I keep on getting the following error:

You need to lock in at least 10 litres

How do I get around this? There's no option to select the number of litres.

        • You need to load money on your 7-11 account.

          • @Tony-Abbott: Thanks for the information. The only type of payment is via credit/debit.

Can I pay by cash or load some gift cards (via their website now) to lock in the price?

            • +1

@yolow: Buy a gift card with cash and top it up with that, I think others have done that in the oast

              • @Freighter: Cheers mate! And can I lock the fuel prices up via the above site even though I'm from interstate?

                • @yolow: Yep.

                  Steps are as follows:
                  -> Log in as usual
-> Click either automatic or manual.
-> Automatic will automatically (try to) lock in the most amount of fuel for the cheapest price of your fuel type the project zero three page says.
-> Manual lets you choose your own postcode/suburb and then it will land you on a confirmation page where it will tell you the price it found. If you continue it will then lock in the maximum amount of fuel you can.
—> If you don't like that price and want to search for a different suburb just press cancel.

                  • @Freighter: I got everything locked in for 55L. How long it take to see the voucher barcode in the app? I keep get error in the 7/11 app.

                    Thanks a bunch for that

                    • @khmerunited: You may need to log out and then log back in. I have the same problem sometimes. Although if you leave the app open it eventually updates itself

      • I had this bookmarked and can no longer access the site “SORRY!
If you are the owner of this website, please contact your hosting provider”

  • is this or Shell/ BP RON 95 better quality fuel

    • Well 7-11 fuels are Mobil Synergy. So it's much of a muchness.

    • +7

Depends on which marketing you like more.

    • +2

      That's 95 this is 98….

    • I've always wanted to know too as I really cherish my sports car! I just know everyone hates caltex and likes BP/Shell, don't ever hear anyone promote or trash on Mobil.

For me it seems to be just fine and the prices are right so I fuel there when the price is right

  • Yeah ! Thanks. It's even in range! Locked in!

  • Thanks for the thread. Only needed 20L but still was over a 10$ saving last night and I’ve got an extra for next week. Got to love that all these deals just happen to be within range each week.

  • I've noticed that the fuel price these days have been trending downwards. Which is always a good thing for us !

  • Sigh, forever ripped off in ACT.

    • They have 8 eleven in ACT right?

      • +2

8 Elevens are increasingly hard to find anywhere

        • +1

This is what happens when you type and dont pay attention Haha

  • anyone had issue with top up?

  • +1

The 7-eleven app does find the 123.9 price in Templestowe, but when I selected the lock price button it jumps back to the app home page without locking in a price.
I have 3 different 7-eleven app accounts, and have used 2 accounts to lock in prices within the past 24 hours. Is that why I can’t lock in on the third account?

    • Does the same thing for me. I find the Templestowe offer, hit lock then it takes me to the find local best deal. Does not lock in the Templestowe offer. Am I missing something?

      • +2

2 locks per device (device ID) per 24 hours.
Either find a second device to do it.. or find a way to change your device id.

Pm for help for a once off lock, or use the web version made by one of our ozb coding gods Freighter.

There's a way I do it that allows me to have 10 X 7/11 accounts on my phone all with different device IDs, but requires an app and a premium add-on that costs $5.49 to do it. Well worth it if you have more than 2 accounts

        • Thanks must have screwed something up , like locking in the crap local price maybe when i was playing with it

        • @cwongtech can you share the app that allow you to have 10 accounts on 1 phone please.

          • +1

            @ferndale: I think @cwongtech using app cloner.

          • @ferndale: App cloner
Available here since being delisted from Google Play store:
            http://appcloner.app

You need to grab app cloner premium for $5.49 before you can set random device ID + insert google map api key
Clone the fun apk made by freighter/master131
Can make as many as you want after, each clone with their own designated random device ID separated from each other :)

            • +1

@cwongtech: Thanks @cwongtech, hope I can follow your instructions with Google map api key and fun apk. Cheers.

    https://fuel.ethergroup.com.au

I just locked in using the above link like 5 mins ago and worked fine

    • I got this error.

      Oops, error:
You need to lock in at least 10 litres

      • Do you have money in your 7 eleven account? It will only top up to the max money you have in your 7 eleven app

        • No I had no idea. I thought it would just give a barcode to scan or something

          • @Bargaphile: Ah yep, it will but to the amount of money you have topped your account up too.
I think you can only add money once a day up to $80 and only have a max of $150 in your account.

I actually just leave my money in it and pay with my card after I have filled up so I don't have to keep adding money into the app

    • I wonder who hosts this. While it passes through HTTPS, your account details, i.e your account balance Can be accessed.

      • Ohh noooo, how dare they look at my account balance!

        • +1

Wouldnt anyone be able to redeem using your account details?

      • I host it, I can't see any information.

    • topped up and locked via the site, thank you!
