Pentax KP 24MP APS-C DSLR $879.20 Delivered @ DCXpert eBay

100
PROGRAM20

$879.20 is pretty crazy for this (Black & Silver available).

Original PROGRAM20 20% off Selected Sellers on eBay Deal Post

Used ones generally sell for this price.
Originally my search started when I saw it on Pentax.com.au for $999 and then I called Michael's, DiGiDirect & Dirt Cheap Cameras because I wanted to use ZipMoney - they couldn't match it.

Did a bit more digging and found the Australian Distributor for Pentax has their own site, I just ordered it for $999 with the O-GPS1 adaptor via crkphotoimaging.com.au (https://crkphotoimaging.com.au/products/16019K2)
That is also a great deal.

Then I did the thing and looked on eBay….AFTER my order was confirmed -_- and saw the 20% off code. (anyone in NSW wanna swap with my order???)

If you're after a nice lens, this 55mm F1.4 is also a good deal:

    My reasons to buy this:
    - Interested in stills mostly
    - Wanted something as weather-proof as possible, gonna take it out in the rain (yes i know no guarantees)
    - APSC Sensor that is 24MP
    - Image stabilization.
    - The Pentax mount has a lot of interesting lenses - many of them are cheap, specially the vintage ones.
    - I plan on getting some longer manual focus lens (85mm F1.2, 135mm F2 etc.)
    - Want manual focusing to be as easy as possible:
    - This has good viewfinder + a 'beep' and light when in focus + Peaking + Ricoh's Outline Peaking
    - Something fairly light packed with good controls & grip.

There's nothing else on the market with all these features.
Mirrorless cameras (inc the new Fuji X-T3) have most of these, but not all. Alternatives that get close are ~$2000
Most importantly, I wouldn't risk any other camera brand in the rain.

      you had me at 'beep'

    • I have an aging K20
Will the lens work with this one?

      • Yep. Basically all Pentax cameras in the last 60 years use the K mount.
Over the years the lens mount was improved by adding digital contacts points, but the mount is still the same and therefore also accepts all 60 years worth of lenses.

        • Hehe, I have an older Pentax (film) with thread mount…

          • @cristtos: Lol…basically all

I knew that screw mount would come up

            • @smalllittlepanda: Yeah…I have a few of those. 50mm 1.4 in both K and screw. It takes excellent pics on my K5ii.

      A6500

      • A6500 and the Fuji X-h1 were my alternatives but the water resistance isn't dependable (specially on the Sony), the focus peaking is so-so, and the viewfinders aren't too high-res, maginifcation is a little meh, not too easy to nail a super shallow DOF that a 135mm f2 would give.
Panasonic G9, that I almost went with, hope I don't regret it.

        • Hehe…I've been recently looking at those too. Very nearly took the plunge. The tech in the Sony is impressive…and I have major GAS for the Fujifilm cameras simply because of the looks (I think I'd love the handling too).

After a bit of research, have decided to stick with Pentax for now. I did dip a toe in similar vintage Micro 4/3rds though. They're fun…but simply can't compare.

Still wouldn't say no to a nice X100 though.

  • Pretty sure DCxpert is owned by CR Kennedy. Maybe try cancelling and ordering again from their eBay store?

    • One and the same i believe…

    • They were super quick, got the tracking about 15mins after order. It's k, I got a lens which must have been a pricing error on their site, not gonna say anything and hope for the best.

      • Yeah….have found them to be good. Have been tempted by this KP, but would like to see what they announce later this year (most likely much more expensive).

I voted for this deal but I am really disappointed with Pentax not providing firmware upgrade which would allow IS in video mode.

    • Yep…that's a bit dog

    • Does anybody buy Pentax to shoot video?

Would be nice though…all those lenses…

  • They also have the K1 mkII for $2,274.35 on their website which is a great deal.
Edit: It was only the mkI. MkII $2599
