Was looking around at other Lego kits and accidentally stumbled on this one. This is a relatively new kit from Lego and most places have it online for $249. Was waiting for one of the price jacking Lego eBay stores to have a 20% off code, but at this price, it is cheaper than most of the places I could find, even with the 20% off.

If you wanted the old Porsche kit but cant bring yourself to part with the scale replica price they want, then this kit looks like a good fun build, and is pretty good at this price point.

I don't know much about Amazon listings, so I dont know if this is a Amazon item or some shonky 3rd party seller. Maybe someone could confirm for me?

Lego Technic Porsche 911 RSR

EDIT: Seems as though Amazon have sold out of stock and the price has jumped up to the next lowest seller. Still an OK price, just not as good.

It's from Amazon, you click the '7 new from $186.75' to confirm who you are buying from.

Overwhelmingly it's the 3rd party sellers who are a rip off on the Au Site.

I was going to challenge someone to crash test this, but it appears the internet beat me to it:

Was hoping that it drove and crashed, not get crushed by a rocket clamp

Only Porsche I'll ever be able to afford here in Aus

Still waiting for a Chiron deal.

  • Says it is sold by Amazon AU.

Have the GT3 already, but man, I wish they had released this concept colourway - looks sweet!

    • Wow….

      • Wow good or wow bad? aha :)

(Well, I like it! Just like camo wrapped car prototypes in the real world!) :)

        • +1

For me, Wow bad. It looks like the shitty camo jobs they do on test/prototype cars.

I have the Orange GT3 in a box here, but I ended up buying the Lepin white GT3 to actually build and display. The white version looks so much nicer than the orange or…. "that" version. If it was just black, nice. I wold leave the swirly decals off it if it wasnt printed on the parts.

          • @pegaxs: I like it precisely because it is like the crappy camo wrap jobs on test/prototype cars! Not that I would actually want to own a car with a camo wrap like that (of course not, they look ridiculous!), but just because it is a representation of those test cars in real life. But I guess it's each to their own, of course! :)

But yes, I would much prefer the GT3 in white (or black). I almost didn't buy it because of the orange! (I'm still considering buying a lepin - the white does look much better!)

            • @caprimulgus: The strange part about prototype paint schemes is they dazzle and confuse human vision, but are absolutely perfect reference grids for computer 3d scanning and reconstruction. The red bull f1 had fancy camo during the prototype stage but it's production matte stealth paint job is much harder to scan.

          • @pegaxs: How was the quality of the Lepin?

            • @unrealshots: I actually just got the booklet out and it’s a “DeCool” not the Lepin.

I would say that it is very good for what I paid for it. It feel and looks like Lego. It is made of slightly shittier plastic, but it would still be 85% as good as Lego. All the parts were there and everything fitted and aligned as I would expect.

The kit cost me $89 + shipping, so I wasn’t expecting much but was left very impressed by the quality for the price.

  • Not a bad price, I do want this to go with the GT3 and Chiron but a bit early to grab this.

At $249 RRP and being Technic, $187 is a decent but not a crash hot price - that's a saving of 24.9% off

If we look at the Mack Anthem, that's $249 RRP but can be had for $150 on sale at Big W. That's 40% off.

I'd hold off if you aren't in a rush to get this. I'd expect Big W to have this as $199 standard price and there will be lots of competition on this set.

    • I have the Mack Anthem as well and it is a kit that is much older than this one. This is a pretty good price drop for a kit that was only released recently. But yes, the Mack kit is a super price. And I don’t ever remember it being $249. When I bought it, it was from Big W and wasn’t over the $200 mark.

If it were the LeMans 919 Hybrid I would get it!

  • Do we know why this is cheaper than the other technic Porsche's?

    • +1

Not as complex a build as the GT3. I have the GT3 kit and it took a lot of hours over many days to build it. It’s a massive kit. This one I believe isn’t as complicated and doesn’t have the same parts and may be a bit smaller.

    • One thousand less pieces.

Also doesn't come with the deluxe packaging / bound manual of the orange model.

      Takata airbag.

    • Going by the pics, it looks like this kit but it's been porsche'd. i have the rally car at home and it's got a bucket load of similarities. Plus it's way smaller than the GT3

    • It's a different scale, and smaller, for one.

The Amazon site shows a different price. Am I missing something?

    • The LEGO Technic Porsche 911 isn't on the Big W site any more so I guess Amazon has put the price back up. Lucky I didn't thinking too long and just brought it this morning. Hate sales, spent $500 on LEGO this morning as a few sets I was eyeing were cheap on Amazon.

  • All gone I think?

    • Yeah, I just checked it and all the "Amazon" stock seems to have gone and they are not onto to "other seller" stock lists.

  • OP - you can get this cheaper from shopforme than the current Amazon price: https://www.shopforme.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_inf…

  • Big W currently has it on sale for 25% off:
