seller got bad rep, I speak from experience. If buying use paypal, since even ebay dispute didn't even help me.

    • +6

Came here to warn potential buyers too.
I think Chalet, Knives Online and one other are all the same store.
First issue I had with them was they sent the wrong item, on a another purchase I bought 2x items they only shipped 1. EBay support sided with the seller as ‘tracking showed it was delivered’ and I was left out of pocket.

      • Man…I don't know how eBay could ever side with these guys…they'd be totally aware of their track record vs other sellers. I'll admit to having bought heaps from these guys, and always received every purchase I've made with them…eventually. I think I raised a case with eBay on two of them.

They have some great prices though, which is what makes it so tempting.

        • Ebay is a seller site, Amazon is a buyer site.

    • I've bought 5 Leathermans from them over the past year or two and returned one of them, all with no issue at all.

      Rebar
      Juice S2
      2x Sidekicks
      Knifeless Rebar (returned)

My experince is not your experience and the seller's rep is 98.9% positive…the facts don't back up your claim.

One thing I will say is that the serials on them show that they are a few years old - I think I got a 2016 multi, but new in box.

I usually try not to deal with sellers with a feedback rating under 99.5% to be honest…but yes, as mentioned above, I too received everything I ordered for them. I bought from them because most of the feedback seemed to be around slow shipping and other stuff-ups that I'd be happy to wear at the price.

Of course…a couple of items took weeks to arrive…this is on a postal route that is usually only 1-2 days. I put it down to the business most likely being terribly organised. They were polite in sorting out the couple of issues I had, but seemed to give excuses that I took as unlikely.

But 98.9%…not a solid rating in my books. It shows is that at least 1 buyer in 100 is pissed off enough to leave bad feedback, and there are probably others who had a less than ideal experience, but chose not to leave bad feedback, or simply didn't leave feedback at all (or couldn't, because they left it too long while trying to resolve the issue).

That's not to say you shouldn't order from them…just be prepared that you may have trouble…once in a while. Make sure you have a safe place for parcels to be received, and raise an dispute as soon as the time rules allow it and you should be good.

good price for victorinox swis stool

    • -1

not worth the price for what you get..

You can get cheaper multitools on ebay or supercheap etc
which has the same or more than this tool

      • +1

Yeah but you can actually do stuff with this tool.

The quality is great in these compared to Leatherman.

        • +1

Funny…I have a selection of both, but I like my Leatherman tools better than the Victorinox ones.

      • "A Ferrari is not worth the price for what you get - you can get cheaper cars like Kias."

Quality is important when you rely on your multitool.

        • I doubt the quality of this is worth 10 times the cost of a cheapo ebay one..

And if the ebay one breaks down (which it hasn't)
I can easily get another one cheaply.

          • +1

@pinkybrain: I can get mine replaced with lifetime warranties.

Trust me, I've bought cheap and I've bought quality, quality wins hands-down when you're using the thing every day.

Having said that, I do have a softspot for my Gerber Dime - the package opener on that bad boy is awesome!

            • @The Gent: I don't need lifetime warranties when my cheapo one hasn't broken down yet at all..
I don't need to trust you..
I have my own experience to trust..

How are you breaking the cheapo ones?
Is it the tools come loose on the hinge or what?

Again tell me what these can do that the cheapo one can't..

Not worth paying this much especially for this one when there is not that much amount of tools

I doubt it cost them that much to make this compared to the cheapo ones
You are just paying for the name brand tax..like apple products.

              • @pinkybrain:

I don't need to trust you..
I have my own experience to trust..

Have you had experience with cheap vs expensive multitools? Specifically daily use?

How are you breaking the cheapo ones?
Is it the tools come loose on the hinge or what?

Not saying I have - it's the cheap feel of the tool, the uncomfortable ergonomics, the flex as you use them, particularly screwdriver heads as they are twisted, the mechanics of opening the tools out. Have read countless accounts of cheaper brands like Gerber multis' pliers snapping off with not a great deal of force

This has all locking tools, a high quality steel for the blades, Swiss mechanisms (smooth, deliberate - no flex) and a lifetime warranty. You're buying something that is good at its job in all aspects.

The tools in particular that are a big drawcard for me with this specific multi are the wood/metal file, the serrated edge blade and the Phillips as I use these almost every day on my Rebar and I just fancied a nicer tool to replace it. I wish this model had scissors, but it was a choice between the serrrated edge and the scissors and I have a daily need for the serrated.

It does, if they are claiming these are fantastic quality tools that worth 10x the cost of cheap one..

A Ferrari should cost the same as a Kia - they both go the max speed limit and drive forwards and backwards, right?

Why should I pay thousands of dollars for something that is the purpose is to tell the time other than I want to show off that I got a big name brand to other people that I think gives a shit

I mean, this wasn't the argument I was presenting, but I will add that some people care about their appearance and a watch is, indeed a fashion choice.

I'm sorry that you feel so negatively about something that really doesn't affect your life in any meaningful way.

            • +1

@The Gent: lol…Gerber Dime is on my keyring. Gerber is such poor quality compared to Leatherman/VIctorinox (and others)…but I love the Dime.

@pinkybrain: Why buy a Rolex when you can buy a Casio…
            smh

            • -1

@Schmendrick: how many people are actually buying rolexes to use vs just to show off that they got one?

              • @pinkybrain: It doesn't matter what they do with it.

                You just lost two arguments.

                • @Schmendrick: I didn't lose anything
                  What did I lose?

It does, if they are claiming these are fantastic quality tools that worth 10x the cost of cheap one..

A rolex and a casio both are tools design to tell time..
Is a rolex gonna tell time more accurate than a casio..
If anything the casio would have more features since it is digital.

Why should I pay thousands of dollars for something that is the purpose is to tell the time
other than I want to show off that I got a big name brand to other people that I think gives a shit

The point of this is a tool..
and I can do the exact same thing with a cheap one that has the exact or more tools than this one..
and didn't pay a stupid 10 times the cost..

The ones that lost are the ones that are stupid enough to think that this is worth 10x the cost
when it actually didn't cost that much more to make than a cheapo one..

                  Those are the stupid ones
Basically the same ones like the iSheep crowds

  • I bought a $250 knife the thing had a big scratch on it.
It would have never left the factory like that and a retailer would never have sold a knife in that condition.
But if you get 20% off and you get lucky then it's up to you.

    • Get a refund/exchange.

  • Very bad experience with the seller. No communication after request for replacement
