Just received an email from Coolcabanas Australia with this 30% off promo code.

I purchased one of these last year and could not recommend them enough. They are essentially a beach shelter with 4 side posts that you fill with sand at the base to make them sturdy. Had mine out in some pretty harsh winds and it handled it like a champ.

My only recommendation would be to get the larger size. But i am fair skinned and love my shade :)

Free standard shipping to Metro areas. Shipping information.

Edit: Not sure if i was meant to list the post as 'targeted'. But figured since the email was sent to me it is?

  • Code works on check out. Is it easy for 1 person to set up. Says 1 person can do it for the large, but suspect its a 2 person job. Which colour did you get?

    • It's definitely a one person job, even for the large. I should know, I have two of them.

      • Do you have to keep moving around the tent to keep in the shade? We have a pop up shade tent which has 3 sides that are blocked off that stops the wind as well.

Also has anyone got the mat that goes with it and does it work ok with beach chairs on it.

        • +1

Yes you need to move, however it's not a pain. I have the pineapple ones.

  • Not targeted. Received the discount as a new customer.

  • Can you put up on grass too

    • Do you really need to buy a $25 spikey end to use it in the grass? I certainly don't need any more tent pegs in my house.. but can't figure out if the spike they sell with the kit is necessary or not??

      • There is a spike that comes with it as normal to help you get it into the sand. I am unaware of a separate spike?

I would say the original product would go into soft grass fine, and you could just put water bottles or something into the 4 posts where you would normally fill with sand.

  • BigW sell a knock off version for $50. Apart from the shovel part being cheaper plastic (which we replaced for $5 on eBay) it’s been fantastic.

  • Been looking to get one for the kids and was just able to buy the Large White for $97, which was already reduced by $50. So works out at almost half price, pretty happy with that, cheers mate.

  • Was thinking of getting one, but after sleeping on it some concerns about its practicality. 1. You will have to move it around to keep shade in the same spot or move around it. As its essentially a large umbrella without legs I suspect in windy conditions it won't stay up well as its all reliant on how well the pole is fixed into the sand. Don't like the central pole either in the middle. Pluses though it looks good and is compact & light to cart around. Probably best for when its not so windy. Looks simple to erect.

I currently have one of those pop up sunshadz tent like ones that has 3 sides and wire frames inside that folds back into a round shape. Looking for an alternative that is larger and simple to erect.

    • These specifically stood out to me because of how well they handle the wind. If you have time go on youtube and search for their product. Last time i looked they had a video at a beach with heavy winds and these things didn't move. The shade is stabilized by the 4 posts willed with sand. They take the grunt of the force from what i can gather and the single post in the middle doesn't move.

  • Annoyed I missed this deal. My tent was blown flat on beach Friday.
