    • late april seems to work. There are more dates available on the website

      • Sent you a PM.

I worry that any bookings won't be honoured.

    • +6

i am more worried that dubai doesnt actually exist

  • +1

The special price is thru this site 'Aunt Betty' not directly from Emirates, how safe is that?

    • Aunt Betty is Flight Centre: https://amp.smh.com.au/business/companies/flight-centre-woul…

But if you are worried you can always ask Flight Centre to do a price beat and they'll take $1 off.

      • +2

The last time I went to Flight Centre for a price match, they wanted to charge me $50 after price matching for some BS "Captain" fee. Why the heck would anyone price match. Quite deceptive tactics as this is not obvious. I have been told that this "Captain" fee was put in only recently.

        • Sorry, I haven't price matched recently but I would do it over the phone and they just took $1 off and no fees. That's terrible they removed it.

        • +1

Did you ask was it for captain America or captain Marvel going to sit next to you for the entire flight?

      • +1

Flight Centre doesn't price match anymore unless it's a physical store such as STA Travel etc. The "Captains Fee" mentioned above is probably to counteract that. It used to be so good they would price match any Australian online website!

        • After they took my email address and contact details they FINALLY told me they only beat airline sale prices e.g. if Qantas had a deal, they will beat that but they won't try to beat other resellers. Waste of time.

        • Yes, they do not price match online travel agent.

I've used aunt better before. Tickets came through no problem.

Not sure why you would want to visit only a stopover city. You still need to get an onwards flight to somewhere which aint cheap.

    • haha, good one, you know exactly what everyone needs :D :D

FYI one way flights in/out of dubai to some European destinations can be found with lowcosts from about $80 (i.e.wizzair)or sometimes even less :)

  • What’s Dubai like for a holiday?

    • +1

Really good… might get a few months while you over there

      • Free accommodation?

        • +1

free food and accommadation … no toilets though… actually not free cause shes out of pocket thousands..

    • If you have craploads of money - it's probably not bad tbh. But if you are looking at a cheap flight - it's not the way to go. Perhaps could consider it for a luxury weekend.

    • +4

Used to live there, not too much to do if you are looking at a couple of weeks, and its not cheap. But between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and some of the other emirates you could travel to, you could probably get a week or two out of it - see some desert, some mountains, some more desert, some diving if you like that.
Winter is incredibly pleasant (25 Celsius most days) Summer is quite rough (47 celsius most days) and the roads are easy to get around on, although the signage is often poor. Hope that helps

  • I really want to go to Dubai but heard a few scary stories with their plain silly rules. Is it that bad?

    • +1

nah man the issues are overhyped, it's pretty easy going place as long as you don't have sex on the beach and drinking on the street you're 100% fine

Having said that the place can be boring after experiencing the few things it offers

      • +1

Boring with so many things to see and do? That surprise me with all the biggest and greatest stuff there? I haven't been there yet so I have no idea.

      • +7

Phew, I should be OK then as I'm more into street-sex and drinking on the beach.

      • 100% correct. Lived there and it is no worries like you hear on the news. an incredibly safe and easy country, you just dont flaunt things or be silly openly and you're fine. there's so much drinking and what have you in the hotel bars that you'll forget you're in a muslim country.

  • I have been to Dubai several times, this is the cheapest i have seen ever. do visit the city, its beautiful, amazing food and lot of things to do. very safe country. multi-cultured crowd etc…

  • Booked for April. Fingers crossed about booking through skidoo.. anyone have any experience?

    • I booked a flight through Skidoo just the other day. I had to call them because they didnt send my ticket but after calling they sent it straight away.

      • Cheers, hasn't been ticketed yet! Fingers crossed

  • All the dates I wanted are gone. I was hoping to finally be able to see my parents after 5 years :(

  • @flightfinderau sent you a PM.

  • Looks like Skiddoo has increased all its fares now !!

  • Deal is over according to IWTF..

    • it is unfortunately. Hope there were some lucky punters

      • Any chance that this was just a price error? Worried tickets will be refunded? $600 return is crazy..

        • I booked and it took a while for confirmation. But it eventually did arrive and I double checked on emirates.com, its all confirmed. Hope this doesnt change.

          • @flightfinderau: Mine has now been ticketed by Emirates also. However there is a problem with one of the passenger names…

            The passenger name is for example;
            First: John
            Middle: Smith Jack
            Last: Jill

            And the ticket has used the second middle name as the last name;
            First: John
            Middle: Smith
            Last: Jack

The last name is missing… Any idea how this will go down with changing it with Emirates? Skiddoo are saying they can't do anything until Monday…

            • @jmal4580: Sounds like a system error? I would get Emirates to change it by ringing their customer service. They should be able to do it for free. If they redirect it to Skiddoo, they too should change it for free. If not let me know and I will see what I can do.

              • @flightfinderau: I believe it is a system error because of the spaces between the names.. Talk about confusing! Partner has 2 middle names..

I spoke with Emirates and they did redirect it to Skiddoo. I will know Monday at the earliest according to SKiddoo.

Will let you know how I go. Thank you so much, appreciate the help!

              • @flightfinderau: Hi Again - I have been re-issued a ticket by Emirates with the correct name.

Skiddoo (Obviously) blamed me and said it was an error how I booked the ticket. Which is impossible because my Partner and I booked it together on the computer and eyeballed the names 10 times!

I had to pay a name change fee of $116! $40 from Emirates and $76 from SKiddoo…

  • Hi guys,

Snagged a one week trip to Dubai in Oct.

It's still early planning but I appreciate your input. Should I spend the entire 7 days in Dubai or split it with a visit to neighbouring Oman (which I am also curious to visit)?

    Cheers!
