    jeez, how do you survive

    • +7

      with friendly crews

      • -1

        They're in Rhodes.

        Nice…

      • Wasn't Rhodes that popular spot for Pokemon Go and the council managed to remove the poke stops?

        • +4

Yeh it was pretty fun while it lasted!

        • It was pokemon central. It was non stop chatting in darkness and people smoking everywhere

      • -2

All the down-voters obviously don't live near Rhodes; or are themselves from mainland China.

        • And what if they don't play games or drive poorly in expensive vehicles?

          • @cheng2008: Ummm it wouldn't make what dcash said invalid (I'm not saying it is valid, btw)

            • +1

@ChadHominem: Dunno if it's valid or not, I'm not trying to prove or disprove his statement. I'm wondering if he wanted to further hone down his stereotyping.

        • +1

Used to sit in the car with my wife driving back home from her old workplace at Rhodes.

So many awful Asian drivers. And my wife is from hk so screaming at them all in Canto never made a difference.

    • +1

I always wondered that, but you look at a movie cinema, they charge $10 a ticket for 2 hours
This is 8 for two hours and they don't need to pay game/movie companies 10s of thousands of dollars for rights to use/show their products.

Plus I know people who spend 6+ hours a day in these places.
Its being in a room with 30 others who love what you love also.

      • +43

No, we got full rights to play, we are sponsored by Nividia and Asus, we are certified Internet cafe, i am just not greedy enought to charge a lot

        • +4

wow, how much capital do you have to pour in for those PCs?? and how long till you make a profit???

    • Assuming he has 10 PC's operating at any one time in order to draw a wage of $20 an hour - not factoring in capital or operational expenses - I'd say a long time.

      • They'd also make revenue from snacks and drinks.

I've always wanted to open up a net cafe.

        • netcafes were good back then when most people had dial up 56K with shit pings, nowadays everyone has broadband

          • @Homr: but we have a direct fibre with 7MS IN LOL

            • @lordlove13: no difference between 50ms and 7ms, especially in a RTS game like LOL

              and what is direct fibre?

              • @Homr: Taking a guess here, but direct fibre in this case would probably be a dedicated fibre line that's shared with other tenants in the building. It's not part of NBN infrastructure and these usually have much tighter SLAs (service level agreements) to guarantee high uptime and bandwidth that doesn't fluctuate like NBN does. Costs shitloads usually.

          • @Homr: That's true, but I recently went to one with a friend and honestly it was plenty of fun. None currently near me though and this was overseas.

Internet/Gaming Cafes are great. Sadly a dying business, but nice to see this still!

More for the social aspect + atmosphere = amazing. Plus the staff in these places are normally awesome.

    Might swing by soon!

    • +4

Heaps of Asians still go to it here in Melbourne. I walked past a few in the cbd and there’s always international students in there.

  • Might swing by too and return if there is good bubble tea - cant beat the bubble tea + pc bang combo!

    • we do bubble tea at regular bases, but we can only do one flower tea for each day

  • do you have this game <the most salty community>?

    • Are we playing most of time?

  • That's cheap. Such great times at PC bangs skipping class with friends to play cod4 lans. All the best!

    • Thanks~

  • Best of luck op. I'm in Melb so unfortunately can't visit.

Back in the day gaming cafes came loaded with tonnes of games. Nowadays you have to sign on with your own Steam account and download any games they haven't pre-loaded. Kind of sucks but still fun.

    • we have 16TB SSD of games, so … most of them we had pre-loaded, even u cannot find it, you can still ask our crew to download for you~

  • +1

Love internet cafes.. good for hanging out with friends if you sick of the bar.

    Sometimes cheaper too

    • We are way cheaper than bars but no accchcol~ Please come over when u r free

  • +4

Never thought about it before but this would be a pretty good way to test the expensive hardware like keyboards, monitors, headset in person for an extended period before making the purchase yourself. That setup looks amazing btw.

    • Thanks~

    • Yeah definitely.

I would write up some games and apps you want to test out and then go in and do so over a period of an hour and yeah get real life research.

  • Do you have to wipe the PCs often? Is there some software that you use to prevent any dodgy behavior from users? I always find this the most interesting thing about running a net cafe, all the risks.

    • +3

Come over, and watch my friendly crew to wipe the pcs carefully with a mop~ they are so good with wiping~

      • How much did your setup cost, oml thats some nice hardware
