For 64G one, Officeworks is selling for $45. MSY is 2 for $15. Will they match the price?

    • They wouldn't match a 2 for 1 deal

    • +3

Just tried, not a chance. If anyone is successful though please post your invoice number.

  • +3

If only they had a special for the standard usb types and not just the type-c! ;(

    • They did a couple of weeks back so might do it again.

      • ah cool. Though 16GB is a bit small. I'm keeping an eye out for a special on 128GB usb sticks :)

  • I can't set to store pickup, AusPost is the only option, unless I'm missing something?

    • +1

Did you first go to the link for "set to store pick up via the MSY site?

Then look up item and go through to checkout, very clunky but should work if in stock.

    • Me too. Still tempting to get 2x 64GB delivered for under $30!

      • The chat person told me to go to the home page & select Order Online & Pickup. If you don't do that it'll only have the delivery option. I bought the dual drive USB type-C 64 G.

    • Make sure you are not logged in when clicking Order Online & Delivery To Your Place. It will then have in blue writing "Picking Up Location" click on that then log in and should be good to go. https://www.msy.com.au/index.php?controller=landing&&method=…

  • Would this work directly with a USB-C smartphone?

    • Yes

  • When you select to pick up, paying in store is the only option then???

Do they only hang on to the ordered stock for 2 days on memory before they put it back to stock?

Also how do they let you know that your order is ready, via email? ( been so long since I ordered from MSY for pick up )

    • +1

Yes, they email you when order is ready for pickup.

      • -1

MSY's pickup system is shit. They don't reserve the stock, and if you order during a promotion and pick it up say the day after the promotion ended, they won't honour the price.

        • +1

          They don't reserve the stock

          Er … yes they do.

          • @Diji1: Well they didn't for me. I've gone to the store after reserving online and it was out of stock. I've reserved something on sale to pick it up the next day, but since the sale was over they didn't honour the price.

            • +1

@WinstonWithAY: well I guess technically you hadn't paid for anything you reserved so they didn't have to hold it or honour the old price.

              • +2

@wallet72: I know. That's why I'm saying their system sucks. I wish you could pay and then pick it up so they couldn't do that. What's the point of a pick up in store system if you can't pick it up in store?

      • +1

Cheers. got the pick up email already.

After reading comments below, wonder if I will get One OR Two? My order for 2 X 64GB did go through OK in the end after some

stumbling on their clumsy site lol.

Just ordered 2 of the 64Gb ones. Got an SMS from the local store within minutes which says (and I quote): " those are special items right now and can not be reserved. We do have a good stock level on those so it should be unlikely to sell out. If you do want those please come in and buy them as those are first-come-first-served"
      Picked mine up no problems.

  • Just ordered the 64GB ones.
    Thanks OP :D

  • Got the 64gb, thanks OP.

Once I add the 64 gb to cart, it still shows 1 item in checkout

    • +1

same here. what did I do wrong???

      • I guess it went out of stock, it works for 32gb. :(

  • Same, 2for1 not working for the 64gb :(

I almost puke blood navigating their website.

Seems like they removed the buy 1 free 1

I've had work experience kids produce better sites in the two weeks they spent working with me. MSY website is appalling.

      • +1

If only they knew people that work in IT..

  • Doesn't automatically add another to the basket here too (MSY Auburn). Any idea how to get it manually?

  • how do you know it's 2 x $xx. I had it to the cart and I see no indication of getting 2 sticks

although it is still advertised on their website…

    • I could only order the 32GB for the BOGOF but when I went into the store to pickup (Cannington, WA), I asked them if they still had the 64GB on the deal and they said yes. So I changed my order and got 2 x 64gb for $15!

      • there no stock online , but manage to pick up 2 x 64gb for $15 @ cannington.
only saw 4 left at the shelf - no idea if they have more stored but plenty of 32gb one

  • 32Gb still working 64gb not working

  • Do these work on older computers?

    • +1

Not really, unless you are willing to buy a PCI express card with USB-C port(s).
Even if you do so, it will most likely be not bootable, which somewhat limit their uses.

  • +6

People, quick, buy them all so I cannot buy any.

    • YOUR WISH IS OUR COMMAND

  • These are great to have if your smartphone does not have expandable (or has expensive, in Huawei's case) phone storage.

  • +4

Reviews say these only do only 20MB/s write, barely any faster than USB2.0. Plus they get hot and fail quite a lot apparently: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/B01BUSN07K/

  • I did some refreshing and changing my store around and it eventually magically added the second one as a gift

    • Same, pickup at north melbourne. Hopefully they reply emails.

  • Auburn walk-in just now, got the 2x 64GB. Customer service was good, but I think the "not-so-great" customer service guy is on holidays atm

PS. Dont forget to give them a thumbs up if youre satisfied, might change the MSY service culture ;)

  • For me when I add to cart, it doesn't apply discount (free item). A hard refresh of the page while the item is in cart, does the magic.

  • Took a lot of navigating but I received an order awaiting email just then. The second USB drive was showing as a free gift option

  • I still can add 2 of 64GB for Huntsville,NSW

  • Called OW and price matched this with this . the operator tried saying they are different but told him it was approved in store mrng for a friend and he said he ok. u can try ur luck. :) picking it up tomorrow from city store. got the confirmation invoice via email

    • Yeah, that design as a dual usb type C and type A 3.1 is a lot more useful between many of our older/cheaper devices.

So, your picking one up from OW for $11.40 then, good score.

      The 16GB model is $13 lol. Also a 128GB for $48.

      • +1

        The 16GB model is $13 lol. Also a 128GB for $48.

Noticed it, funny but i live with 32gb atm i guess ☺

        • Yeah, I'll be happy if they still have their one only still tomorrow when I try to buy.

  • Got the 64GB one, missed last time. Thanks OP

  • Got 3 64gb for $30 lol.. 3rd one came up as gift. $0.

    • +2

Shouldnt you buy 4 for $30?

      • Lol… He must have forgotten

  • Jumped on 64gb. Thanks OP!

  • Officeworks Perth CBD don't have this model.

  • Got 64 GB one. Thanks OP. MSY got the order ready for pick up in 2 hrs to my surprise. !!!

  • cheers Op got 4 x 64gb for $30 pickup

Price-matched no worries at Officeworks Canno.

      Writing speed: 14.9 MByte/s
      Reading speed: 107 MByte/s

Might be slightly slower than actual since I ran it in a VM.

    • How did you get them to pricematch? I called twice but they said they won't match a 2 for 1.

      • Luck of the draw I guess. She even called the manager to ask if she could do it and the manager on duty said it was OK.

  • Has anyone ever seen an adaptor for USB-C male to USB-A female?

  • I cant pay by card or whatever, the only option is to pay at pickup. I doubt that they will cancel it.

  • Great deal, unbelievably bad web site. Did a human test it?

  • +1

Hopefully their new site retains the legendary Parts.pdf price list. It's the gold standard for quickly browsing through the entire catalogue of items.

  • just ordered 2x 64gb for $15 pickup

took like 10 tries.. sometimes the site puts in a price of $30 sometimes a price of $45 for 3 and once a price of $30 for 3.. and sometimes $15 for 1 .. :) a little fiddling and i got to 1 X 1 gift for $15

To get 4x64 for $30 you need to place two orders of 2x64 for $15 but with USB-C plugs these are very limited to what they can be used on.. 2 is enough

Has anyone ever seen a 4k TV with USB C?

    • u can buy the USB to USB-C convertor for a $ in ebay.

      • I will check out prices on eBay.

  • Can't get past the Shipping page: Pickup from store Free. When I click Next, it goes back to the first page Summary. Tried Chrome and Firefox, same.

Ordered online on 11 April and chose to pick up at Morningside shop Then got the email advising the order ready for pick up. When I arrived at the shop, the counter staff didn't honour the deal. He told me I couldn't get the $15 for two anymore as he claimed I ordered when the deal already expired..

LOL…. Firstly, how did he know if I ordered the deal anyway if (as he claimed) I ordered after the deal already expired?? Why did he mentioned that I "couldn't get the two sticks for $15anymore"

The online order that I submitted clearly showed one for $15, and another one as a'gift'

I wasn't going to haggle with them over $15, so I walked away.

Wasting my time to go there! Thanks for nothing.

    • Weird, I ordered 4 64gb sticks for $30 on the 19th and picked up on the 23rd with no problem from Varsity Lakes.

      • Weird but I was in no mood to haggle.
