    In before idiotic comments.

      Like this one

    • Nothing says idiotic like apologising for people who want to brainwash children.

      • looks like you got some real hate.
let people believe what they wish. stop forcing people to agree with you.
        you sound childish.

        • +1

How ironic. They are the ones who want people to believe what they want to believe - this product is designed to brainwash impressionable children…

While the vast majority of people are smart enough to see this for the nonsense it is once they're older, unfortunately little kids often can't.

apart from that, nice deal OP

Probably the most honest thing written on their website.

    • +1

Standard clause for almost any free thing these days

      • +5

Really? Almost anything free these days allows the bible society to contact you? Mate, quit your BS.

        • -3

Mate, clearly this doesn't seem to be like your cup of tea.
why don't you move on to something that is

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

  • I prefer Luke

    • -2

      Thanks for your valuable feedback

    • I prefer Leviticus. It's good to have a written basis to hate gay people and witches and want them executed, after all.

      • your arguments are very basic child, and frankly getting very old

        • +2

          Like your entire belief system?

          • -1

@callum9999: yeah, like the one that has stood the test of time and was around long before you were and will be around long after your time.
anyone can have an opinion or hold a viewpoint but in the end - truth prevails.

            and historically..

just because its foolishness to you doesnt mean it is for everyone.

            go spread your hatred elsewhere

            • -1

@winXPHE: Not a great argument. That's like arguing that leeches are better for fighting cancer than chemotherapy because they were used first… Or like arguing that Buddhism has more merit than Christianity because it's been around longer.

Look up "appeal to tradition". Common logical fallacy.

    Free gifts for annoying neighbors

    • This is the best use for this deal so far!

  • Don't show this to Izzy

Sign up people you hate haha this is gold

Haha… didn't think of that. Thanks for the idea.

    Spoilers: It's a lie.

    • Which part

      • -1

        A good majority of it

    • +2

      Spoiler: you have no idea

      • -4

        Spoiler: you've been lied to.

        • +1

So definitive. Its almost like you were there.

          • @winXPHE: And you think that stories written 200 years after the purported actions of illiterate labourers is more definitive than a modern sense of inquiry looking at the idea of human resurrection yes?

      • +1

Spoiler alert: anyone who legitimately believes that a man came back to life and was born to a virgin has no idea.

  • +8

"The Seriously Surprising Story" ??? Is it the George Pell Story ??

  • +9

Thanks OP, ordered for the kids so they know what easter is all about.

    • +5

You could just take them to Coles or Woolies to show them the Easter eggs?

      • -2

        you sound very profound.

    • +2

      Username checks out

    • +5

About a murdered man who magically comes back to life in order to tell people that if they don't believe in him they will burn in hell for eternity?

      Lucky kids.

    • +1

Thanks, I could just tell them in a few lines, and save them the trouble of feeding them this bilge that tells them their parents will burn in hell etc.

  • +6

Expect OP to be joined by Mathew, Mark and Luke shortly. ;-)

I wish there was a religious category, so I could put it on ignore.

    • +3

Expect OP to be joined by Mathew, Mark and Luke shortly. ;-)

Took me awhile to get that xD

    • +2

      Yep. That would be great.

People who want to see this material would still see it, people who don't want to see it wouldn't have religious advertising in their feed.

  • +1

The true story's been free for a while.

Couldn’t pay me for this, sorry OP. BSA group to contact me and share my contact information? No thanks.

  • +5

The surprising bit is that they stole it from the pagans.

  • I once took one of those free hotel bibles because it seemed kinda interesting when I actually started reading a bit.
It made me think that it could actually be a decent book to read, it might just be a kinda neat collection of short stories that hold up on their own.
As long as you don't start taking too seriously or anything. Can't imagine why anyone would.

But obviously the novelty wore off almost instantly and I went back to my phone or whatever.
Still, a freebie. And without the awful followup contact of this shitty deal

    • -2

Did you read Leviticus where it says gay people should be murdered?

I guess some people find that "neat", sure.

      • No it was some other part about being cool

    • Bible is compilation of historical documents that was thousands of years in the making. That in itself is already quite interesting. Just don't look at it as simply a religious book.

But old testament is where many (including Christians) misunderstood what Christianity is about. Jesus teaching should be the driving point. Scholars, Christians, non Christians and even some atheist also won't deny that Jesus is a historical figure. The debate is whether he actually returned to life or not.

      • Not really, they understand exactly what it's about. It's people like yourself who completely change the teachings of the Bible to morph it into something you wouldn't be too disgusted to follow who don't get it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad you're in the majority as it's the main reason Christianity is just an almost-irrelevant "believe whatever you want" club nowadays, but don't pretend that you know the "real" meanings!

        • don't pretend that you know the "real" meanings!

No, we should leave that to arrogant atheists with beginner grade bible literacy (if even that) like yourself to tell everyone.

    • I read it as a kid. It was horrifying. Yeah, no thanks!

I think spirituality is a really important aspect of humanity, don't get me wrong, but endless justifications for rape and murder? There's other ways.

      • endless justifications for rape and murder

Sounds like you read the religion of peace book instead.
