Get about for same price or a bit extra (10 - 15 dollars) Compare on Catch.com.au for more colors and choices.

    • Depends what colors you’re after. Im getting $189 from catch. Plus 9.95 for postage for the black color. Which is the color I was after.

      • +1

Its good to have more choices. As I said, to compare among other colors as well. Not just black.
BTW, the coupon works for other models as well (e.g. Nimbus which are my fav).

@jimbler: Auto correct changes my colours to colors 😏

    • Got the grey/nova orange for $156 and $189 on catch

looking for a decent shoes for about 50$-60$ for this year's marathon..
    any recommendations?

    • why negged?

      • +5

i think thats a bit cheap for good marathon shoes.

have you done lots of running before? first marathon? what shoes do you currently use?

i just replaced my kayano 24 with these 25's after ~500km of running plus some day to day use. 24's still look as new except the wear on the rubber sole. I'm a bit heavy (85kg) so a lighter guy would get more life out of them. You can decide if thats good value for you.

        • running was never my cuppa.
i want to try it and thought preparing for melbourne marathon(half) is a good way to get into it..

appreciate your comments.. i will need to up my budget

          • +6

@jee: I'm not trying to gatekeep you here but a marathon and a half marathon are two very different beasts. You should be able to knock over a half in any half decent shoes.

Good luck and enjoy the training :) Crossing that finish line is a great feeling no matter the distance!

        • thanks for that, not the first person i've seen saying they go the distance. been looking at the 24's for getting back into running a bit more seriously starting with the half at western sydney marathon since its all flat (and im getting too old for hills) and the new balance 860v9's ive had a months were great at the start but with each session i do they seem to just not feel up to scratch. how do you compare these to the 24s so far? Rebel has the 24's for 160 atm

        • Good running shoes don't need to be expensive. Get one that fit you the best. Don't spoil your feet with the technology. In most case, a shoe with EVA cushion is good enough. For 50$-60$, you can certainly find one good brand while in discount.

I can only guess here but maybe someone thought if you were going to be doing a marathon and all the lead up running you should probably spend more then $60 on shoes.
Depending on your body the shoes can make a great deal of difference and price more often then not equate quality.
It could also be that you asked for shoe recommendations with no personal info. It's like asking someone to recomend a car to buy and you want it to go fast. The variety of shoes are many but only a certain few will apply to your foot type and running style.
For example I run in Asic Kayanos but even if Asic Nimbus were $20 I wouldn't buy them because they give me sore feet. Both shoes are expensive high mileage runners but one is focused on stability and the other neutral.

Not sure why you are getting negged, +d you to get rid of the negativity

    • +3

If you're going to run 42.2 km you should invest in in something that you can use in your training and the run without dying due to blisters and awful foot support.

I can highly recommend reading the Running Blog resources in finding the right shoe for the job.

Hard to find decent shoes at this price range from Running Warehouse. Skechers GOmeb Speed 5 would be $60 after the discount. Meb Keflezighi wore a prior generation of it and won Boston Marathon back in 2014.

Edit: j/k. Don't buy GOmeb Speed 5 — probably not good shoes for new runners.

The best marathon shoes are the ones that fit you and are suited to your running style.

Kayanos are big and heavy with a lot of support and designed for over pronators.

Plenty of people can get away with shoes for $50

  • +2

Really good shoes for over-pronators (heel rolls inwards), I've been buying Kayanos for years. Usually get 2-3 years out of them - everyday shoe plus a bit of running/ PT work.
Got my 25s recently for about $160 during one of the ebay sales. This version doesn't have quite as much arch support as previous years, probably to make it a bit lighter. It does have a more secure heel though - not getting any heel slip in these at all.

tldr: great price for a great runner.

When i use to sell shoes including Kayanos i tried to get people to use their latest pair of shoes solely for running and their recently retired Kayanos as their everyday shoe.
Its manily because you are placing more stress on your body when your running so you want the shoe to be performing at its best. When walking its not as stressful on the body so the worn running shoe will still do its job under less stressful conditions and still be a nice light comfortable shoe.
I use to have multiple pairs happening. The running pair, the everyday pair and the mowing pair. I tried wearing them fishing once but found them too slippery so kept with the volleys there.
I would also try to convince people not to wear them as PT or anything else shoes as their are better suited trainers out there for that, Kayanos sacrifice the support a trainer has to keep light. In a more extreme case I a netball player once try to return their faulty Kayano as its side was splitting. I tried to explain to her why Asics makes netball shoes and the reason they were a heavier and chunkier shoe, she was not convinced but its her money to spend.
Anyway up to you but here is a good read from the Asics website
      https://www.asics.com/gb/en-gb/running-advice/changing-your-…

    • Agreed. I am not a runner but have two Kayano 23 that I have been alternating for gym and walks, for around 4 years. Great runners.

Thank you OP, my quest for a black/black Gel Kayano at a cheap price is finally over. My previous 21s were looking a bit sad from tramping all over Asia.

WTF do Australia sites use US sizes, and then don't tell you until the last minute. Most of them use UK, correctly.

  • +1

I had these shoes but after a couple months of light use, the rigid plastic forming the heel of the shoe split and started digging into my heel. Bought from another shop.

    • Exact same problem for me. ASICS quality has really declined.

  • +1

thanks OP, got 2 as i can wear these for work too

  • +1

Got a pair of black/black thanks.

  • +1

    Great timing.
I am running the New York Marathon in November, will need a fresh pair to smash on the road to NYC. Cheers OP.

  • I like the design in the thumbnail, so was going to try these (I usually use Brooks adrenaline). However, the blue/black is the only colour they don't offer in this deal.

  • +1

Bought a pair as they actually had 2E width in my size. Thanks OP

  • Are these much better than the GT2000s? I lobe my gt2000 4's, but with a replacement required, and this discount available, would it be work paying the extra?

    • Just a note everyone: the GT2000 6 shoes at $90 (+shipping) after discount.

    • If you are happy with the GT-2000 stick with them.

I've used 2000 series as my stock training shoe for many years and bought the odd pair of Kayano when they were super cheap. The difference isn't huge the Kayano's feel a bit heavier and I definitely prefer the 2000s. If you don't need the extra stability of the Kayano stay with the 2000.

I bought 3 pairs of the GT2000 because it hard to find 2E on sale in my size (thanks OP)

      • Thanks mate, ended up sticking with them. $90 for 2Es is great

  • Good timing but I'm still uncertain of what to buy. My current is what I got randomly for cheap and was for $60 asics gel pulse 4. Used only for gym (never been a Runner but picked up park run this year). My work shoes wear out on the outside a bit so probably go underpronated/neutral shoes. Any one knows what's good in asics that's not just marketing?

Might go in store and find a knowledgeable sales rep

  • Great discount. Applies to everything in store. Just picked up on running shoes for the lowest price I’ve ever seen.
    Thanks for the heads up!

If you’re sizes 9 to 12 and don’t mind older versions then Kayano 23s are only $109.95 (plus $15 Shipping) at Jim Kidd in Perth. https://www.jimkiddsports.com.au/collections/50-off-asics-ap…

  • Thanks for the post! Grabbed a different model but have been waiting out for Asics deals

  • Cheers,OP! Got myself a pair of Nimbus21.

  • +1

Are these shoes any good for people with high arches?

    • +3

Kayanos are good for neutral to flat footed people.
If you have high arches. The nimbus or cumulus are better for you

  • +1

Please 10 more +++ guys !! I wanna get my first badge 😄😄😄

  • seems like 2/3 of the colourways are sold out and size 9 out for the black / grey :(

  • Was that all blue colour shoes in the pic available? Can't find that option

    • Must be sold out. There were at least 5 colours available earlier today but only 3 are left when I click through to the deal.

      • Thanks, was gonna pull the trigger if the blue was still available ever m though I have too many shoes lol. It is great color
