Playing around with domestic flights and came up with this date pair in November - if you're looking for a trip to Perth from Brisbane, under $300 on a full service airline is impressive.

  40 hour round trip vs 10 hr round trip with Virgin/Qantas. Save $150 for a 30 hour longer trip….

  They are not a full service carrier and have questionable operating standards.

  can you just leave the airport for a few hours in bali and come back to catch the flight to perth or just forgo the return flight at dpns to bne and make your own way by some other means?

  Leaving the airport shouldn't be an issue but some airlines have penalties if you miss the last sector (no idea about Malindo).

  Be very careful when booking with Malindo.
  They have now introduced a cheap fare class which does not include check in bags.
  Check very carefully which ticket you are buying. You will have to pay more for tickets to include check in luggage.
  Do not assume it has free check in luggage like a full service airline.
  They are now operating like a budget airline.
