  • Cha Time?

    • I like their milk tea with pearl and red bean, half ice half sugar

      • Milk tea with herbal jelly, quarter ice, no sugar.

        • Peach green tea less ice no sugar

    • It's Chat Time … it's a Thai restaurant chain

  • Thats a public holiday?

Good question, will there be a surcharge?

  • +1

Pity I won't be around in Sydney to take advantage this offer :/

    • same here…

    Love Chat Thai

Perfect for lunch just before the Segway trial at Chatswood as well

  • Why does Chatswood get all the good food!

    • +2

Cos all the asians are there and vendors don't have to pay ridiculous rents like at Haymarket

Chatswood is pretty much Mong Kok 2.0

      • Difference is Chatswood has less gwai loe than Mong Kok

      • commercial rent in Chatswood is crazy like every mayor suburb in Sydney. This is a one off grand opening offer not much related to the location, there are plenty new commercial space opening in Chatswood, each have to attract some kind of attention with deals trials etc

  • OzBargain meet up?

    • planned to go there on Friday

their beef salad and pad kee mao are quite tasty

  • +1

Takeaway as well or just eat in?

    • just eat in

  • Great thai food - would highly recommend this place.

Is this stackable with Cashrewards if paid with a VISA card? :D

  • What are the chances of getting a table? Do they do half price take away?

    • just dine in only

  • +1

Can you guys please come to Melbourne!!

  • +4

    Will be a massive line

  • +2

Yep massive line. There even massive line at their city restaurants even without discount

  • +1

Chat Thai is a solid chain, reliable and decent Thai food, shame they are NSW only. Worth going at full price.

  • Hmm it seems like the Chatswood menu is smaller compared to their city branches. 18 items compared to over 100 for the Thaitown branch.

    http://www.chatthai.com.au/ct_branches/chatswood/7/

    Still a good deal though!

    • Many more to come. Still uploading the menu :))

      • +1

        Good to know, thanks!

      • if am going for lunch. Do they serve lunch on the dinner menu?

    • dinner prices is more than lunch prices

looks like its more of a take away, although also looks like alot of items are missing, they dont even have a pad thai on the menu

      • The menu on the website isn't complete yet. It's actually a full menu on the grand opening days.

Love your food! Went to your store every time I'm in Sydney! Open one in WA please! Our Thai food sucks here!

    • where do you eat your thai food in Perth?
there's definitely a few gems and most are very authentic

      • There are good ones like long chim & Little Bangkok which are good, but too expensive for its portion

Other than that, just some small ones around the suburbs, which are hardly exciting.

My favourite Thai place when I'm in Sydney. PLEASE COME TO MELBOURNE

  • +4

Sydney thai food is better than in Thailand lol

  • Do you have to make a booking? There is no number listed

  • Is there a queue yet?

    • +3

it opened at 12, not 11. which was pretty annoying given all the marketing seemed to say 11.

got there at 11, put our name down (there were probably 30+ groups there at that time) but ended up going elsewhere.

      • I feared the opening time was misleading. Mrs SydneySwan was keen to go but I managed to persuade her otherwise. She hates waiting 10 mins so an hour and a long queue would have killed her.

  • what is their menu? How is the serving size?

  • +5

Advertised as 11-4 lunch but opened at 12 and closed at 3. Service super slow and they charge public holiday surcharge on top so not that great especially when you factor in the wait times.

    • +2

Good info - looks like a place to avoid.

    • Yeah just avoid it during the public holiday.

  • Had to take a ticket and wait 2 1/2 hours to be seated. Service was good and food came out fast, but like the above commenter I am not impressed about public holiday surcharge and on top of that they charge 1% for paying by card too! Some of the dishes were very bland, I like a good hit of flavour and an assortment of fragrant herbs like mint, coriander etc but didn't see any of that. Do not recommend the "SEN MEE KWONG TUNG GOONG", prawns were nice but dish as a whole very boring/bland.

We went and had a bite. I agree with others it was a pain. Also, annoyed that we had to put our name down and come back two hours later at 13:15, apparently, because the first booking was already full and yes the surcharge as well. I figured we may not go back to eat there again for a long time, so we gave it a go while they are 50% off.
For what it's worth it was worth the discounted menu. The food was good. Between the two of us (and a five-year-old), we ordered five from the list and the total bill came to $48 incl GST and the surcharge. We had a doggy bag and charged $1 for two small containers.
We ordered that much because they were 50% off. That said, not sure if we'd go out of our way to eat there if we have to pay full price though.

  • thanks for the information. Today might be less people. Yesterday most of the shops close so people got nothing to do.

  • waiting time become not worth it even half price.

  • We ate there yesterday and today. There are long queues but you take a ticket and come back (we took the kids to the park yesterday) and today I came at 10.45am and got seated right away (number 23) and had to wait for the family to arrive (they opened late yesterday so I didn't expect it to be so quick).

The flavours are delicious, however, for the premium non-standard items, the servings were small. Yesterday we got a whole barramundi and it was very small - definitely not worth $35 full price. I don't know if they deliberately chose smaller sized ones for this opening special. There also wasn't much duck in the $23 dish.

We were charged a 10% holiday surcharge for both days, so effectively it was a 40% discount.

At full price, we might come occasionally for the pad thai and massaman beef curry, but not for the whole barramundi and premium items.

    • Wenr there last week… their premium items are overpriced… but the regular stuff is still good … cost a little more than other places but their taste is still better so its worth it.
