  • last night would have gave you 10% cashback.

    • -3

      Amazon au only

      • really? I thought it still applied as long as you order through amazon au

      • Items bought from US amazon tracked for me last night. I purchased through amazon au.

    • 10% cashback still applies for fashion & accessories, not sure about board games.
      Games are probably 5% cashback.

  • +1

runebound is 45 if you pick the Amazon US seller on amazon.com.au. but for the last 2 months the price has been around $33-37, might be worth waiting a little to see if it drops again.

  • +1

Is $27 a good price for the Prelude expansion, or has it been a lot cheaper?

    • +1

lowest price on camel is $23.71
      so $27 is decent

  • Good game? How is the learning difficulty?

    • It's a medium game. So it would require all players to read and master the rule books. 3 players WILL be required!

1 play through to get an understanding of the rules.

4-6 games to get comfortable and find your strategy as a team.

      • +4

        Plays well with 2.

        • -2

The game isn't modified for 2 players meaning it will take hours and hours with only 2 players.. more to do as well as there are less players. Scores will be higher and more terraforming can be done.

This isn't how the game was designed. You really need more players - suggested best number is 3 but it can support up to 5.

Because of all of this, it isn't a 2 player game due to several knock on effects which can ruin strategy and overall game play. Less players = more cards and more time to go through the deck and longer turns. Resources lose value due to more space available on the board.

It_just_loses_context!! You atleast need a 3rd person to spice things up.

            @neofelis:

The game isn't modified for 2 players

Er … pretty sure that's exactly what they said they do.

      • +2

I've only ever played with 2 players and its been fantastic at that. You do NOT need 3.

        • +1

Terraforming Mars is a board game for 1 to 5 players designed by Jacob Fryxelius

          This is from Wikipedia

          Has anyone played 1 player?

  • +2

    No roaches?

    • Don't remember…now if only I had total recall.

    • +1

      terraformars?

    • Pity that they stop the animate series

Ended up biting and buying. I gave the good news to my partner that the item she wanted is now on the way from the US without shipping fees thanks to prime. May have forgot to mention another board game to my collection is also coming.

    • Which one?

      • Terraforming Mars. I've been looking at it for quite some time and I always see positive reviews in some board game groups I follow.

Also can get an item my partner has been wanting for a few weeks now but I haven't needed from the US store.

        • +1

You won't regret buying it! It's fantastic! Just prepare yourselves for a 2-3 hour game.

          • +1

@Wickadz: I generally don't mind long games as I do like eurogames. But I have to find the right group for them as a few of my friends definitely lose interest in most things after about 45 - 60 minutes.

$46.99 on ebay? long shipping time though

      Fake copy.

      • How can you tell if it’s a fake copy? How would I protect myself from buying one accidentally?

        • How can you tell if it’s a fake copy?

usually if the price is too good to be true

also on ebay, I always check the sellers negative comments
          usually fakes are outed

occasionally one may slip through the cracks

    • -3

FYI for anyone that doesn't really care, I have a fake copy and it plays just as well.

You pay a bit less, the creator of the game gets no $, and the counterfeiters get all the $

    • +3

Less risk of counterfeit and hassle from Amazon imo

    • +1

      $58.19 incl post slightly cheaper.

Pay slightly more to get the real deal

Also check out that eBay sellers negative comments

  • +5

I bit and bought it. Now I just need some friends

  • +1

Wish I grew up playing board games or having friends that played them. I really feel like I've missed out on something special, there's always a lot of highly regarded games.

    • +5

Not too late. There may be a Meetup group in your area you could join.

      • board gaming community is growing all the time

    • Majority of people here probably only started boardgaming recently and not since childhood.

  • paid ~$70 last deal.. ambitious, but any chance I can get the difference back?

Update: Got the difference back in the form of a voucher through chat!

FYI one way of guaranteeing that you get a genuine copy of this board game is through their latest Kickstarter campaign for their new expansion Turmoil:

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/strongholdgames/terrafo…

The campaign will also include 5 upgraded player boards (dual-layered e.g. similar to the player boards in Scythe), which in my opinion are a must have.

It is somewhat pricey to get the board game this way and quite a long wait (November 2019 supposedly), but you do receive some free 'promo' content, such as the aforementioned upgraded player boards. 'Promo' basically means you can still get the content later if you don't back the Kickstarter campaign, but you'll have to pay an unreasonable amount of money for the content.

    • Interesting to know but there's nothing "free" about this campaign. The stuff is actually selling at RRP. What they save on distributor percentages will pay for the "free" stuff

  • what board games do you guys recommend for older people in their 60's? just want to get my parents involved into boardgames, so we can have some fun while spending quality time together. P.S they have never played a board game before other then probably Monopoly

    • +1

I've played plenty of heavier games with people in their 60s. Age is less of a barrier than being new to gaming. My go-to games for people new to games - Azul, Bohnanza, Wingspan, Dixit, & High Society. The thing with these kinds of games is before long you will probably want to try something else. Games like Terraforming Mars you could probably play plenty of times and still find something new or interesting you didn't see before.

I cancelled and reordered to get 12% cashback

  • arrived Easter sunday via DHL
