Here is a guide I made up a while ago in regards to using Woolies eGift cards for filling up at Fully-owned Woolworths Caltex

In a nutshell, you want to go to a Non-Starmart Caltex with Woolworths labeling

The 8C offer (4c fuel offer from groceries + 4c from spending instore are 100% Woolworths owned caltex

Independent Caltex Co-branded Caltex Woolworths Owned Caltex
"Starmart"/Myer One Points Maybe Maybe No
Accepts 4c Fuel Voucher No Yes Yes
Accepts Woolworths WISH (Physical) No Yes Yes
Accepts Woolworths eGift Voucher No No Yes

To confirm, use the below link
    https://www.woolworths.com.au/Shop/StoreLocator
Untick Woolworths Supermarket and Caltex Petrol
Leaving only Caltex Woolworths - these are 100% woolworths Owned Caltex where you can use eGift :)

    Photos for reference
Woolworths Fully-owned Caltex, eGift accepted here! 8C Signage
Woolworths Partially-owned Caltex, physical WISH gift accepted here, Starmart = MyerOne points
Independent Caltex, no WISH accepted here, Starmart Signage

@cwongtech nice guide . I also find the WW petrol app under store finder will only show the WW owned one's that accept e wish.

    • I thought you had to buy caltex specific ewish cards? It's so confusing..

      • +1

Only Woolworths owned Caltex have the actual terminal/card machine to accept egift, nothing to do with Caltex specific ewish

Wish cards can be accepted at all woolworths group stores incl dan Murphy's for all the alcohol connoisseurs out there :)

        • is this the terminal/card machine at the fuel pump or inside where the attendant is?

So the egift card is entered at the pump after filling up and then you can drive off without going inside?
          I just want to clarify.

          • +1

@exidez: It's inside with the attendant, when paying, you let them know you wish to pay by e-gift card and then the card reader will ask you to input the 10 digit gift card number followed by the pin

    • +2

This sir, is a ridiculously awesome guide

    • Further, I normally fill up with two cars at the same time. I will then be able to purchase 120L of fuel in one transaction. I then spend $5 in the store to get an extra 4c off (equate to $4.8 of saving), effectively getting those I purchased for free (usually 2L milk and gum).

    • Fantastic info. Always confusing to know who is going to accept and who is not. This resolves all the confusion.

  • Is it possible to buy gift cards like an eBay gift card with a wish gift card.

    • +13

and then use the eBay gift car to buy wish gift cards…

      • +5

        cardception!

        • +5

          infinite flybuys points…

      • And then use the wish Gift card to buy ebay gift cards

    • +3

@dann WW shut down the ability to use e wish cards to purchase other gift cards sadly.

      • Yep, it's very unfortunate :(

        The good times have gone..
But we all still need to buy groceries from Woolworths

        • You can thank the money launders OR ATO scammers who ask people to buy gift cards

          • +5

            @netjock:

You can thank the money launders

            Which detergent do you use?

            • +1

@jv: The mob uses acid baths but obviously dilute it a bit for money. Don't want the plastic to melt you know :D

          • +4

@netjock: ATO scammers don't ask you to buy eGift to pay for gift cards.
They just ask for iTunes or be arrested in 5 minutes

How you know it's not legit:
Our police force isn't that efficient unless it's issuing infringement tickets

            • -5

@cwongtech: Another Mr Precise who doesn't get the joke. This country has turned into a nanny state of formalism. Exactness in loading up on debts but really bad at financial management.

            • +1

              @cwongtech:

They just ask for iTunes or be arrested in 5 minutes

They must like listening to a lot of music…

      • Do you know if this include steam gift cards?

        • No gift cards.

      • People keep saying this but I keep doing it. Not often but when I do I haven’t failed. The gift card does have to be a pre-set value.

        • Waidaminute, are you saying you can still buy, say $50 eBay gift card with a $50 ww e-gift card? When and where may I ask? Is that what you mean by preset value?

          • @plain_biscuit: Yes. That’s what I mean. Not sure but I’ve done it within the last six months in Victoria.

  • Good man love anything with biggest gift card discount around especially a major player :)

  • +8

A week too late. I just stocked up on about 6-9 months worth of eGift Cardslast week before the American Express Tranfrer rate halved this Monday.

    • Same. Any increase in cashback is good but I won't be buying any for a while.

    • +2

Closed my Amex. LOL. Maybe come back to it if there is a good sign on in 24 months.

    • It usually pays to wait until the 11th hour before doing something like that.

    • Including QFF points?

  • What % discount did it work out to LCT ?

  • +26

Is this just 0.5% more than usual? $2.50 for a $500 gift card.

    • Correct. 0.5% more than 0

      • +1

        I'm pretty sure it's 0.5% more than 5%

        • 50c more than $5 for a $100 gift card

        • +2

          10% increase.

          W00t!

    • +15

I wonder how low TA/Cashrewards can go and still get 100+ upvotes?

      An extra 0.25%? 0.1%?

Would be an interesting test of the herd mentality of OZB users.

        • +1

          How so?

People complain about Ebay offering decreasingly attractive offers.

          What's different here?

          • -4

@vetopower: TA is brought into it every single time. Especially in those eBay posts. TA this, TA that. It never ends for him!

            • @Clear: So your complaint is that I mentioned the poster of the deal?

    • +2

I was going to buy $1k of gift cards anyway, but then saw this post and moved forward the purchase to today. Extra $5 in my pocket, free, for no additional work. Yeah it's not much, but it's still nice.

    • Just? It's 10% extra discount than the usual rate.

      • It's just $5 on a $1000 spend. Marginally better than zilch but nothing to scream about.

    • Some privates sell it at 7.5% off, if you can find them. Anything less than that, they are just trying to profit adv off you!

      • +1

Not any more they relied on the amex points.

        • Yeah, earn rates effectively halved.

Lots of egift sellers are stopping saying it's not even worth their time now.

  • I know still the best I know of right now .

  • +1

Bought one this morning. That'd be right :)

  • Don't forget you can save an extra $25 on the max order of 5 k :)

  • Important: From 1 Oct 2018, Woolworths Online orders paid partially or in full with any gift cards will no longer be eligible for Cashback.

    • Source?

      • See here. Special terms were updated in Sept 2018. We also sent out a newsletter notifying members of the change.

I assume we can use this gift card to buy Boost mobile $150 voucher at Woolies.

    • can confirm this - i did it at my local self-check out. the staff had to assist with entering some details, but no issues whatsoever.

      • Did you buy a single $150 Boost voucher?

Can only see $40 and $50 prepaid Boost SIMs at my local Woolies.

        • +1

Can definitely ask for a $150 boost voucher at the service counter and pay with e-gift, Ive never tried at self serve before!

  • i've already stocked up on giftcards from prezzee from their last couple of promotions :)

  • Damn I just bought $400 worth last Sunday!

    • +5

Oh no…..you just missed out on a whopping $2 :-)

        • +6

          $400 X (5.5% - 5%) = $2

          • +4

            @O O: or $400 x 0.005 = $2 :)

        • -2

it would be $22, not $20.. you sir, should do your maths brother

          • @Da dpG: We are talking about the extra 0.05% above the normal day to day 5.0% offered by Cashrewards.Hence the extra is $2 on top of the usual $20.

            • +1

@Borg: Yeah I know that, but he was talking about the 5.5% discount as a total which he still got wrong. He said $20 instead of $22.
That's why I was correcting him

              • @Da dpG: Ah ha,fair enough and more a case of this all getting a tad confusing hence was "lost in translation" :-)

  • +2

Aw man, I get paid tomorrow!

  • can you buy a physical gift card with this? so u can shop instore
or is it JUST spending online

    • +2

You can use eGift Cards in-store also, the eGift card mentions the in-store code and PIN that you can use on the Eftpos terminal.

      • is it hard - like is it a 20 digit code or is it simple like a 5 digit code

        • +2

It's not too hard, I think it's 16 digits but it doesn't take very long to put in and it's fairly simple.

    • You can buy either and still shop in-store. A physical card however has a delivery fee.

      • so how can i spend it instore…. is there a qr code or something i just scan

        • Answered here.

        • +4

Get the Woolworths Money app for your phone and it stores all the numbers you need to know there.

When you go the POS terminal it will ask the payment method you select e gift card. You put in your 10 digit redemption code select ok and a 4 digit pin code select, "ok" and you're good to go.

It's a bit of a ball ache but nothing too ridiculous.

          • @mwahahaha: It'd be nice if they had a barcode like Coles. Makes things easier at the checkout

      • +1

        thanks again

  • Does payy by gift card void cashreward?

    • For Woolworths Online, yes it does:

Important: From 1 Oct 2018, Woolworths Online orders paid partially or in full with any gift cards will no longer be eligible for Cashback.

      • But all good at Big W online, Dan Murphy's etc?

        • We don't have BIG W as an affiliate store on Cashrewards, but yes for Dan's.

  • Argh. Just topped up yesterday.

  • -3

would have been better to go from 5% discount to 10% discount.

    • +4

would have been better to go from 5% to 110% discount. Given us money and a giftcard.

  • hey guys, havent bought one before. after i place the order, how long before i get the email with the egift card?

    • +1

If you've purchased previously, you should get the email within 1-4 hours. If you're a new customer, then Woolies runs fraud checks and can take up to 24 hours.

      • :( was thinking of using it today, will need to wait i guess

        • Try this before you purchase. They may be able to speed things up?

        Then it's smooth sailing after!

  • +2

Anything is better than nothing but hard to get excited about 0.5% :p
