Husqvarna 120 Mark II 14" Inch Saw $249, Pole Saws from $1027 @ Husqvarna (In Store Only)

110

I'm in the market for a new chainsaw, so I checked out a local Husqvarna dealer where they told me the yearly autumn/winter promotion had started earlier this month. Most saws are $100 off, with the cheapest being the 120 Mark II at only $249. The dealer said this specific model hasn't come into Australia yet but they had plenty of the Model 236 at the same price; it's almost exactly the same saw, just the previous model. Both are a 38cc engine with an output of 1.4Kw, and a 14" bar. If you're prepared to wait for the new models to arrive you can also get the 120e Mark II which is the same saw with a 16" bar at $299.

If you want a bigger saw there are some models with discounts of $150 (e.g. 550 XP for $1399) and $250 (e.g. 390 XP for $1949) as well. The pole saws are all capped at $100 off, starting at $1027 for the battery-powered models.

There's also a competition to win back the price of your new saw.

  • Thanks OP great for cheese platters

  • tempting ….looks nicer than my plasticy mc culloch , issue is if the entry model husqvarna is built to last or is it a throw away like my mc culloch?

    • Definitely not. A Husky chainsaw is built to last, as long as you look after it (like any tool). Fun fact: the McCulloch brand name is owned by Husqvarna. It’s their ‘bargain’ range and sold through hardware stores and other outlets. Only licenced full-service dealers are allowed to sell the Husqvarna branded gear.

  • 120e is tooless chain tensioner …

250 bux is what i paid for 236 5 years ago doubt they would have changed the 120 much from 236 , probably carb changes….

  • I bought one of these and it seized after 1 tank of fuel using their oil as recommended and they are saying I didn’t put oil in the fuel a lie even tool the oil back to Sydney Tools. Don’t buy one of these they are junk. Buy a Sthil. I’m going to consumer affairs. They are messing me about big time. Anyone would think it’s a million dollar saw. Avoid Husqvarna at all costs

Do yourself a favour and check out the Echo Chainsaws while your at it. I made the switch last year, and have been impressed with my little Echo so far.

I had the Husqvarna 236, just my experience but found it extremely temperamental to start, and then died constantly when hot. Seemed to be an issue with it creating a vacuum in the fuel system when hot, causing it to starve and die. Was also temperamental if used at an angle, something the Echo has had no issue with at all. Also the plastic around the Tensioning nut broke on the Husqvarna, was still able to use, but wasn't impressed. With the little use it had, it caused me no end of frustration.

On a positive note, Bunnings (at least in Midland, Western Australia) have started stocking Echo products over the last month or so, which will hopefully see some tasty specials coming our way. Or at the very least, easy warranty claims. Doubt they'll tune it up nicely like my local Mower shop did though.

  • Look out, Stihl may be price matching soon on their entry level model.
