  I have had the same one since last Sept., maybe Oct., still brand new.
  Want to get it off my hand, as the guidebook of my car instructs 5w-30, but the vehicle maintenance mechanist requires 5w-40 or else he wouldn't sign on the logbook.

    Is your car old with high kms? 40 is usually to protect high millage engines or when car is being tracked.
