  This is not a trans-Tasman route, as you have a connecting flight to Hawaii, you will get meals and movies included.

      Can confirm. Flew LAX(?) to SYD via AKL and got movies and food on the trans-Tasman route. I got food, people around me didn't (unless they paid).

        @beatthatflight: I think Hawaii might be treated different to mainland US. AirNZ runs their "Seats to Suit" product on trans-tasman, pacific islands and Hawaii flights, but is full-service to mainland US (so will give you their full-service product on trans-tasman flights where you connect through)

        @dane45: I called AirNZ and they said it is possible to buy ticket Perth to Hawaii without food. Hawaii is a Pacific island.
        
        Redemption flights always have food and movie.
