  • Hey OP. Do you have a version of the USB-C hub that supports 4K @ 60Hz?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07DZY5WDJ

Simply connect with the HDMI port and you can enjoy Ultra HD (4K) at 30Hz or Full HD (1080p) at 60Hz

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01K7C53K2

The 4K HDMI port supports 4K@30hz or 2K@60hz

    • Hey Mate, I don't think that any of the ones available in Australia at the moment offers that but I will check their other models in the US and see if they can bring them here.

There was a knowledgeable guy at the shops today selling HOOTOO branded stuff. He called himself a HOOTOO GURU.

Dad? Is that you? Who gave you access to the internet???

  • -3

Just purchased one without discount yesterday…not happy :(

    • Contact them through Amazon and they may credit the difference to your account.

    • You were happy enough to buy it, at the time. The offering changed down the track. So why be unhappy??

Every day, our life is getting shorter. Hardly going to whine about it.

  • Does anything happen when you plug something like this into a phone?

    • The P20 Pro launches a 'desktop mode' of Android. Mobile's screen becomes a touchpad (as a mouse).

Bit weird and not all apps, so it's rather useless. I'd prefer just a screen mirror: if it did, it would be better than Android Auto.

  • I have something like this, only works as a usb hub.

  • Rep, still no local stock/special price for RAVPower Filehub 2019 AC750?

  • I'm struggling to work out - now that I have a new Hp spectre x360 laptop 2018 model , how to buy an usb c hub for these? My last laptop from 2011 era had 4 or 5 usb slots and it's own ports everywhere so it's the first time I've been faced with needing a hub.

Looking at the hootoo's advertised they talk about "other usb c" style products, but mention macbooks, chromebooks etc. specifically - which makes me suspect that just because you have a thunderbolt or usb c port on your laptop, the hub may not work with it?

Is that the case? THe hp spectre x360 comes with 65w charger adapter so I was hoping this usb c hub would be perfect to deliver power delivery plus finally get me both one or two more usb 3.0 ports PLUS the hdmi output - as I may want to buy one or two HDMI monitors in the future to hook up the laptop to at home.

Can anyone advise if usb c hubs are all unique and not all laptops will support the product, despite having usb c ports?

Also - I do want two monitors, does that mean I need a hub with two x hdmi ports on the hub? or can you connect through one and split to two screens? And should I be looking for 4k at 30hz or is 60hz a 'must' these days for your everyday 23-26" size screens for the home office (if not gaming much? Perhaps the odd streaming/movies etc)?

    • They will work with any 'Type-C' Laptop

      • Only asked as the Hp Spectre X60s seem to have a notorious reputation for not working with non HP hubs and the like (from what I could gather online via google…

  • Hey OP,

I've just gone to purchase the HooToo HT-UC001 Shuttle USB C Hub Adapter - Space Grey; entering code JBLOXOWD.

It doesn’t seem to work, only for the silver.

  • +1

I got this one instead. It’s got Ethernet and SD card reader.

It was just under $50 but now it’s showing $53, so $15 more for two more ports if this is useful for you.

Edit: I tried to copy-paste a link directly from my eBay app but it looks like it’s automatically blocked. Anyway if you search for “ugreen USB-C 3.1 hub” you should be able to find a few listings.

    • Looks like they have some good value accessories at the UGreen store. I like the wallmount phone holder

  • I have a Dell XPS 9350, which I connect to a dock at home, so that I have extra USB devices, monitor and keep the laptop charged, all via a single USB-C port. A persistent frustration when travelling is not having enough USB ports or the ability to plug in ethernet or a HDMI monitor. The description refers to having one type-C charging output, but the second last image seems to imply it can simultaneously charge both the laptop and another USB-C device (ie 2 devices), like my phone (so long as the total is <100W). Which is correct?

    • It can’t. The only USB-C port on the side is input only.

    • Yes, that is correct.

I’ve got the USB-C hub. Its pretty good and highly recommended.
One of the things that USB-C hub/dongle manufacturers should have mentioned but almost none did is the wifi interference problem. It means using the USB ports kills the wifi (2.4Ghz).
    https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/329970/usb-c-dongl…

This is what sets this hub apart from 90% of hubs in the market. It’s built with GREAT SHIELDING, and DOES NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM!

    • What is this about wifi interference? So using an usb c hub interfers with the laptops wifi? As I only use wifi….

      • Correct. When you use the USB3.0 ports on the hub, your wifi may be disconnected.
But HooToo's hub was built with that in mind and worked well.

  • Hi Op,
Do you have the newer model hub HooToo HT-UC008? It has both the Ethernet port and SD card reader in one.
    Thanks

    • +1

They haven't released that one in Australia yet but I will send a request to the SunValley Rep that they bring it here.

Their VAVA VA-UC006 and VA-UC008 have this (same owner, different brand). I don't have a code for them right now but hopefully will soon.

      • +1

Looking forward to getting the code for VAVA one.

Does it charge up and also display Samsung Galaxy Note 9 for Samsung DEX??

    • I think it will, this dude used a generic hub and it works

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGo_DvvOEO0

      • Thanks for that. Will buy.

        • Yeh I bought one too, also bought 2 pack USB C chargers and 2 HDMI cables. Think I paid too much HDMI cables as they were $11.99 each, it does have ethernet built in but

  • any recommendations for these types of hub/replicators with 2 HDMI outs?

  • Will this work with a S10e? Like can I hook up HDMI to TV, charge the phone via USB and connect a game controller all at once using this hub??

    • Not sure. It's made for Laptops. Not sure an Android phone would recognise it.
