  • Are we able to plug and play this on a PC, preferably via Bluetooth, without any additional software like the XBox one controller does?

    • +2

No, it's a bit harder to set up since everything is programmed for Xbox controllers.

I think Steam has a profile for it, older stuff needs x360ce or similar.

      • Thanks. I will skip this one. I was looking to get a second Xbox one controller but haven't seen a decent deal for a while now. Got my first one for less than $50 delivered…

        • +2

it's fairly easy. all you need is input mapper

    • +2

      Yes, with this fugly adapter.

And its cheaper than the official/discontinued Sony's DS4 adapter.

    • +1

I use one with a cheap Bluetooth USB adapter on PC and using built in Bluetooth on my Mac. Also use one with an 8bitdo adapter on my TV.

All 3 scenarios work perfectly without any additional software beyond Steam.

    • +5

If you use ds4windows, it works very well.

This comment here. Ps4 controller works great on the computer

    • +2

I would highly recommend Xbox controller for PC. I haven't charged my controller with over ten hours of gameplay. As an ozbargainer you probably have some nice pairs of batteries laying around already that make the xbox controller heaven because you never have to charge it.

Depends on the game I guess… e.g. PS4 controller just works with AC: Odyssey… Plug and Play.

  • Anyone having difficulty adding to cart? Not working on my end.

  • you know it will be genuine.

How? Is it "because it's Amazon"?
Plenty of fake micro SDs floating around the "Amazon stock" as a counter example if that is your reasoning.
If that's not your reasoning, then how do we "know" it will be genuine?

    • +2

Just from previous experience. I've bought 2 of the same before from Amazon and they have both been genuine.

      • the sample size of 2 is very reassuring

        • +1

I've updated the post with my additional comments about my assumption they are genuine, just to make people aware I'm just going by previous experience.

        • +3

          Your having a wank surely?

  • All gone, that was quick

    • Thanks! I've expired the deal.

      • There's 3 left

        • Added an update to keep refreshing the page in case as it is going in and out of stock at the moment.

  • +1

FWIW, I just managed to buy one (after the deal was marked as expired). If anyone wants one, keep refreshing, and trying to add it to your cart!

    • Yeh showing up as '3 in stock' at the moment.

  • there is still showing 3 in stock. but could not buy for some reasons.

    • Most likely they have already been purchased, I would just keep refreshing the page every so often in case more stock is added or people cancel their orders.

      • the price just changed to $89.99 too late

    • I had to keep trying to add to cart, and it would take me to an empty cart (with the controller on my saved items list). Eventually I was able to add it to cart and put the order through.

      Good luck!

  • Well damn I missed out, must not have been too many in stock. Thanks anyways OP for quality post! :)

Guys, it pays to check regularly. I've bought 2 of these on 2 seperate occasions for this price. I never post it as a deal because there's only ever one or two in stock when I check, but they come in stock often. Its always this colour for some reason. You just have to keep checking.

  • Damn, missed out on this.

Has anyone else's controlled just randomly died? One day was working and the next it won't connect at all and comes up with one orange flash when plugging in to charge. I've tried resetting and followed others tips to reset in threads etc.
Can anyone link me to something that worked? Or should I just bit the bullet and bin it?
    Cheers

    • This, I bought mine back in 2016, been using it for a few years on PC via USB cable and ds4windows. One day it randomly died exactly like you described. It was plugged in to the USB most of the time, so maybe that contributed to its early demise. Something about its battery not meant to be plugged in yada yada. Let me know if you find anything else.

      • How s**t is it, was literally one day later and it just died. I've tried multiple blog advice/tips and haven't found anything yet.
Tried resetting multiple ways and in 'safe' mode apparently and nothing's worked.
I didn't always have it plugged in either, only when it was one bar or stated it was on low charge. Will update if I find anything but I think it'll be thrown.

  • Can this be paired on a PS3, I've seen forums saying yes and other no

    • Yes, all (Sony branded) DS4s work on Ps3 with minimal effort

    • Yes but not fully.

It will detect and pair up easily but as a generic wireless controller, and hence the PS button won't work. to exit out of a game and back to the dashboard, you will need to turn it off and on again from the console.

  • Anyone had their order shipped yet? Mine is still "Shipping Soon".

    • Received mine today!
