Wouldn't that redeem date be cutting it fine being the weekend and all?

Will buy if there's no need for a card through Vaya.

Have heard nothing but bad things, if I can buy this through Groupon, activate it on my phone, and never have to give Vaya any payment info, I'll bite.

    • I'm with you. I was with Vaya a while back and they introduced a "security fee" or something that was auto taken from my card. I then had to chase them to get it back when I changed carrier.

You should not use vaya even if it is free.

    • I agree.. just be prepared to pay an extra potentially $30 - 100 depending how long they try to sting you more for.

      • Do they not cancel the order after 6 months?

        • for me it took a few months and then some extra bs fee.. i honestly dont know with them

      • +4

Same, i'm in the industry and so muck around with different mvno's all the time. Vaya are the worst, tried to make it as hard as possible to retrieve the $20 security deposit. Wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.

        • Had same problem years ago and only got money back by threatening tio action. I would've thought they'd improve under amaysims ownership.

When? I have never had to pay extra, even if i went over my data, called up customer service and they were good at crediting back

    • You have no idea by the sounds. I have used vaya for the last 2 years with not one single issue

      • So just because you haven't had an issue, that negates all of the other comments here?

        • Well your neg the deal because you had an issue and others havent.

Could of been many factors that only caused you to have the issue?

          • @asa79: You must be a vaya fan boi since you are oblivious to all the other posts in this thread describing similiar negative experiences.

My case was pretty simple and there were no extenuating factors other than they didn't want to give back my $20 security deposit until I went to the TIO.

    Lowlights: Vaya.

i got stung by these crooks as well. Avoid.

  • Has anyone in las t few days, have bought it, redeemed it and paid any extra $$ to vaya apart giving credit card details. Please comment

    • +3

They charge in advance. So you will be hit with extra charge even before you cancel their service. They also have some really weird billing cycle. In the end you will have to make numerous phone calls and write several emails. Not worth it.

      • Do u mean even if u port out they charge you?

        • +1

From what I gather they charge 1 month in advance so before your 6 months is up they would have charged you for the 7th month already

also they charge a $20 security deposit as its not a prepaid plan - which from comments above is a real pain in the ass to get back.

Also from a search this 2gb plan is postpaid; and there is no way to stop them charging you extra if you go over the 2gb amount. (other carriers allow you to block data until next month)

I agree with other commentators above, just walk away. Even if free

Avoid at all costs, like the person above said even if it's free avoid
Absolute worst company I've ever used

  • Can I just use it for my burner phone ? No cc details needed apparently. No need to cancel as I can just let it lapse etc

    • For your burner phone check out Aldi's $5 prepaid credit which can last a year.

  • Just to balance out the above, I've been with Vaya for about 4 years and have had no issues with the service whatsoever. That being said, I haven't had to cancel the service and get my deposit back yet!

    • Honestly, when you go to leave you will change your opinion.

  • Yep. They are rubbish. Avoid.

  • First time commenter here, but had to join the chorus of punters with awful Vaya experiences. Took so long to stop being charged by them and also experienced the I explicable fees scenario. Avoid!!!

Thanks all of you. I was about to buy.

  • I bought, used my daily CC details….then updated details and put in one of those cash EFT CCs with $7 balance in it…see how it goes after 6 mths.

  • They apparently charge you and send an invoice even if you have removed your card details. They then send final notices for non payment. It seems best to avoid unless you want to have a long term plan with them. If you port out I cannot see how they could charge you though.

  • Based on comments above, I must have been one of the very few who had no problems whatsoever with Vaya in the 5 years I was with them..Recently ported back to Optus only because they offered a better deal ($120/12 month prepaid plan) otherwise would have stayed with Vaya..They were quick to refund my $20 deposit as well.

    • because you stay with them long enough

  • I ended up wasting my $6.90 from the previous deal as I bought and redeem it but wasn't game enough to continue using it. I requested a cancellation.
