I was tossing up whether to put this on the forum or as a deal.

Pretty straightforward - go to BigW website - use the BDAY5 code (expires 30 June 2011)

Free shipping for this card, so its $25 for a $30 card

16.6% off is not a huge saving, but Village Gift cards do not get discounted anywhere near as much as the Event ones

So if you go to the cinema often this might help, we use ours for snacks paying for the 3D fee etc so it all helps

  • Good deal.

  • Can you use this on the hoyts card?

    • no reason why not

I just put the village one up, as Hoyts has been mentioned in a prior post

any idea if this will work with other offers ie, $11 tickets?

    • No reason why it shouldn't.

  • A Village Cinemas Movie Gift card is the ultimate gift. All gift cards can be redeemed to purchase any tickets, food and beverage or candy bar at our traditional, VMAX or Gold Class Village Cinemas locations in Victoria and Tasmania.

Guess it means its ok for the discounted $10.50-$11 movie tickets then

  • the limitations for village gift cards (from their website):

"Not to be used for the purchase of Screen Savers, Gift Vouchers or Gift Cards"

    hope that helps

I have to say that prepaid gift cards in general are not a good idea (can get lost, stolen, expired) and for a specialist store like the cinema a ~16.6% discount is not sufficient. You can save a much greater amount by using screen savers and not buying any snacks from the snack bar.

Oh, I dunno…some of those Borders gift cards were a real 'steal'! :p

Sorry, is it too soon? ;)
