  • Which cities?

  • But how much? What's the deal here ?

    • +3

There's $200 off flights my friend.

      • How much are the flights now?

        • +19

          $200 lesser.

          • +6

@kz: After being 30% more expensive?

            • +4

              @kma: Mine were $500, so $200 off represents a 40% saving.

Plus, the ones I bought were at market value, no 30% hike here! Winning!

              • -2

@footyboy: That sounds like a good deal!

    • +3

Booked for SYD-AKL return in Sept
      $328 (including tax, no Luggage)

  • +38

I have been watching a few dates and prices have jumped 30% overnight. Typical marketing baiting.

Virgin are still cheaper than slot of these and include free baggage! Air NZ has a seat pitch of 29’ now also. Same as Jetstar.

    • +2

They had a sale ending 9/05, perhaps that's why the prices have jumped and this sale isn't as good?

    • +1

Virgins $100- $300 dearer for me

      • I’ve been told virgins attract a premium?

  • +1

Any info on which destinations are included? I just tried one and couldn't see any discount.

Edit: tried Brisbane to Wellington/Auckland/palmerston north and none applied the code.

    • It's all NZ destinations. Are you sure you searched during the Travel Period: 27 May - 18 Sep, 14 Oct - 10 Dec 2019.

The discount gets applied to each flight, so you won't see any further discount when you click through. It's about $300 return to major cities from Syd (Would have been $500 before the discount)

      • +5

Yeah within the period. I feel as though the prices are the same as they were when I checked a couple weeks ago.

Edit: just tried without the code and it seems it was already applied. Guess they just price jacked.

  • +1

Struggling to find box to enter in details. Although, prices are very competitive over winter (Sydney - Auckland 295AUD return)

    • +2

The promo code needs to be entered when you're selecting the destination city and dates.

    • +1

It’s not hard, click on the link and the promo page already has the code filled in. I’m seeing $298 return Syd to Akl

  • +2

    Choice!

    Chur bay

We went to NZ last July booked with airnz and didn’t even get on a airnz plane, from Sydney they cancelled twice, 2nd time on the way to airport, way over ended up on a leased plane, way back flight cancelled 3 days before, when asked about expenses they put us on a qantas flight. Useless.

  • +2

Just bought return flights, saved $400 thanks!!

  • +17

They hiked the rates up then offer $200 lol

    • +20

The fare I was watching was $349 return yesterday. Today after discount it’s $353 return.

      Just booked Virgin $339 return.

      • Sadly air NZ is a bit stink here

      • +5

Very dodgy practices. Worthy of a neg.

    • +5

And (some) people still finds it a bargain! LOL

  • +1

They jacked up the prices then gave $200 off. Only really save about 60$ on a return flight from queenstown.

  • +3

Checked Brisbane-queenstown for the dates we are already have tickets for in early August. For 4 people we paid $1380, with so called $800 saving flights now come to $2200.

    I smell a rat.

$2200 is their full price fair to QT going by experience.

    • It’s money off what’s available now, not the best ever fare offered on the plane! The more popular flights will have already increased fares as planes full, simples!

      • +5

Hahaha… if you think a flight would have otherwise been $3000 for 4 people, then you dont belong on ozbargain.

Flights have never been at that price and $2200 is about as normal price as it gets.

Air Nz should be shamed of themselves.
This is a their Ebay discount moment.

  • So choice it's actually choice as brew!

  • +8

They jacked up the prices then gave $200 off? This deserves a neg!

  • should i wait until tomorrow after the discount as finished for flights to NZ at end of month?

    Do seem a bit overpriced

I will check same flights tomorrow (I have booked) and if they are cheaper i will call AIr NZ and cry / yell

  • +5

Prices do not seem very good after discount. Fake news!

  • +4

More expensive compared to other airlines.

Shame on Air NZ for price jacking then promoting a "Sale".

The new A320/1 neo's are also a joke - 29" seat pitch down the back is the same as Jetstar.

    • +1

Yes, just over half the seats on the plane have 29 inch seat pitch.

Do you have to pay more for seats with extra leg room?

      • You can, some seats with more legroom are for purchase.

Other seats especially the ones further forward are selectable by those with status including Air NZ Gold, Star Alliance Gold and Koru.

  • +3

Prices will probably drop again after this sale.

    • +1

The argument is that the prices have been jacked before the ‘sale’

Not sure why people would lie about it.
Not sure that so many people could be mistaken.

      • -5

A sale ends and a sale/promo starts, so is that jacking prices. Fares I booked at a discount a few months ago are a further $50 off with this promo. Nobody has provided any substance to their negs at all

        • Nothing indicated that a sale was present prior to this one. I never had to apply any promo code and the flights were around the same price as they are now with this "sale".

  • +3

Wont fly ANZ whilst they have these deceptive practices

  • Yeah this isn’t very cool. Bad price jacking - we watch nz flights weekly - nothing here is a deal, $200 off represents normal market rates - bait marketing should be banned.

Airlines are rife with this, as they control pricing based on whatever they like - so they can do this sort of thing….

  • Price jacking!

  • +1

Does anyone call out their bad practices on twitter? Need to shame them in public. This kind of practice is a disgrace!

  • +1

Just book flights through Webjet or Flightcentre, find a price that's ok, book, problem solved.

  • This deal is back till end of the day!
