Its innovative synchronization algorithm offers true bi-directional synchronization, while its peer-to-peer (P2P) connectivity with block level incremental data transfer allows you to enjoy even faster backups – saving you time and increasing productivity.

GoodSync utilizes AES with 256-bit key encryption, with all file blocks chained and random salt is applied.

Supported cloud storage services include:

Amazon Cloud Drive
Amazon S3
OneDrive/Office 365
Windows Azure
Dropbox
Backblaze B2

PS: I am using this software on Windows and Mac for many years.

Good software! I use this on my Laptop to automate backups to my PC (LAN) and Dropbox.

You can also use this free license to get a 60% discount on a second license (if you need more than one to peer-to-peer sync, etc.).

    • I've registered the original shareware order in my account, and I have the order number in there, but when I click the 'Upgrading or buying additional licenses?' button in the cart and enter the number, I get "Your original order was not found. Specify the 10-digit Order ID of your First License." so not sure if this discount applies?

I was able to get it to accept the Order ID at the checkout, but I didn't actually try making the purchase.
You need to enter your full name to match your account.

Actually, if it's added to your account, just enter your name & email, and it'll get it from your account. Again, it loaded the discount for me, but I didn't try making the purchase.

        • This worked in the end, maybe I had to verify my email address first?

What's the advantage of this, over say Google Drive or Dropbox?

    • +6

      Which you can also afford?

      • I see what you did there!

This is a tool for syncing with various services, including Google Drive & Dropbox.
It's better than the default clients for these services because it gives you much finer-grain control of what is synchronized etc.

      • Thanks for reply. Ah ok, yeah don't know too much about these backup systems.

        Will try it out thanks

  • Are there any 'gotchas' with the free license? eg. Once you uninstall/reinstall the license doesn't activate again?

    • I got this on a free deal 18 months ago. Haven't had any issues with it. No nags and it also includes updates. Great for automatically syncing a backup copy of my USB flash drive. Haven't tried uninstall/reinstall tho'.

  • thanks

  • This is always free.

    • I'll add a recommendation for SyncBackFree, which is also always free and I switched to because of reliability problems with GoodSync.

Available from https://www.2brightsparks.com/freeware/freeware-hub.html - it's been an absolute trooper ever since I installed it.

I don't know how it is with cloud services, but it's bloody briliant for local drives and local network stuff. I had absolutely no regrets about ditching Goodsync.

GoodSync synchronizes and backs up files such as photos, financial documents, MP3s …

    Nice try ATO

  • Great software on Mac. I bought it a specific job and worked flawlessly.

  • Been using this for years. I just use it to backup local files to the NAS.

  • Been using this program on and off for years. Thought I'd try it again because I really wish it would f'n work. tl;dr - it's still shit. The biggest problem is with stalling (sits there waiting for nothing), which happen whether you use their Android app or USB. Other problems include some files not showing up with Android syncing, it not correctly detecting daylight savings changes and forcing you to re-sync hundreds of gigs of files because it thinks everything has changed, and a particularly juicy one is where syncing works the first time and then won't work ever again until you reboot (more threading issues no doubt).

Interestingly, I never had an issue with this app on Mac and Windows.
