I see quite a few "Highlighted Competitions" on OzBargain home page. Have you ever won anything through those competitions (if any)?

I am just curious as I have never won anything in an online competition. Only won a small 14" TV more than 15 years ago in a raffle once which wasn't online.

I've won some colour theory colouring book I regifted and a bunch of DVDs. I don't watch DVDs so they ended up being given away. Oh also once won a luv a duck promotion for a $500 gift card but I couldn't claim it because my duck was sold with a reduced sticker when I bought it? Still don't understand that won.

Not as kool as everyone else, but I bought a pie form a cafe and it came with a scratchie ticket to win free stuff and I got a DVD player. Though DVD players were a dime a dollar at that point so I don't think I ever used it.

Back in the nineties, when watching the Saturday night lotto draw was a thing and you checked your numbers off one by one as they were drawn, one of my games matched the first five numbers drawn and I just needed the one more for a first division prize - it came out and was 2 numbers off…and I didn't even get a supp. 5 out of 6 (3rd division) netted me about $440.

In the front page there are a few competition. Have any of you won it?
A humble brag post as I've seen some comments from people mentioning some amazing wins so keen to hear what people have won recently, what they are hoping to win and any strategies for the 25 WOL comps as I never win those :( Not sure about others but I've definitely entered more in 2020.
My best recent wins have been a MacBook Pro this year and a trip to Japan last year. Unfortunately had to postpone the trip due to covid but the company has been really nice about getting cancelling/refunding everything and hopefully can use it when/if the travel bubble opens.
I've been trying to win a gaming laptop/desktop for my boyfriend. Also eyeing that Omnidesk one from yesterday and the Temple & Webster one so I can get some ergonomic chairs. Also wouldn't mind a Powerball jackpot but lets keep dreaming haha.
I used to try poems and acronyms for 25 WOL competitions but never won with those strategies. :( Any tips for these ones? I always wonder if they actually read all the entries….

I focussed on competitions a couple of years ago when I had long commutes.. won Kitchenaid stand mixer, Samsung S8, and a few other small things (cant really remember)
I also remember a company i used to work for ran a competition for a trip to europe… was an amazing prize… we had SIX entries in total. So sometimes the competition isn't that great.
The Mac was a raffle and the Japan trip was a lucky draw but had to buy Woolies sushi to enter. My Mum bought me the sushi for lunch and laughed at me when she saw me entering the comp haha. I never really go out of my way to enter those comps where you need to purchase something unless its something I already was going to purchase anyway.
Damn, only 6 entries? Did you have to put a lot of effort into entering like some of those creative ones? I think finding comps is a lot easier nowadays though.
I have never won one of the 25 words or less type… like you I have tried to be clever with my answer… poetry, limericks, etc… I think the challenge there is you just don't know what the person doing the judging is looking for.
I would say when I was focussed on winning I entered maybe 3 or 4 per day for maybe a 4 month period… so was quite a lot of entries. The email address I used for the entries is now completely unusable due to an outrageous amount of spam it now receives as a result.
This is everything I've won based off Ozbargain. I've won a lot more stuff since I started back in 2009 but it's all been relatively minor. Nothing huge like a TV, a computer, a car or a trip somewhere. I win mostly through 25 words or less but I haven't had as much luck lately. I spam comps sporadically whenever I feel like it. I'm currently not in the mood but I might spam a few on the weekend.

I avoid rhyming nowadays. Basically, I just try and answer the question with a smartarse comment.
During my downtime i have decided to enter some competitions on Ozbargain.
I have entered over 100 competitions and have never won any, not even a small prize. Does everyone reckon these are a scam to obtain our data? What's everyone competition results like on here?

I used to just search "Winner" (currently 549 results) and "Congratulations" (47 results) along with a few other words but all I got was 10% off codes and such.
At the end of the day it's the dataminers who win.

All i ever got was spam and being harassed by phone. I gave up entering these competitions and i have some serious doubts about their validity. I have yet to come across someone who won a competition.
Seem to do best in games of skill. Have only won 2 other comps. As there are less people who enter.
Also entered an ozbargain design comp. And won 20 dollars. I think there were like 60 people who entered and top 15 got a prize so good odds.
I won a 6-pack of CC and dry and a hat last year, which I think was from the competition posted on here. But odds were pretty good on that one from memory, more like a promo than a competition.
A few years ago I entered basically everything posted on here for a few months and got nothing but spam…
