I bought this monitor after I missed out on the Aftershock $499 deal. Its essentially the same monitor and uses a Samsung VA panel with 3000:1 contrast so it looks fantastic. Freesync works great with my 1080Ti.

This is a great deal.

Great monitor though note stand isn't adjustable

    • Yep the stand is average at best I agree.. though thankfully its VESA 100 and comes with stand offs to fill the recess. I mounted mine to a dual vertical stand from MSY,

      • Considering how massive curved ultrawide stands are, I'd consider some sort of mount essential.

        • Yeah agreed. Ultrawide stands in general take up quite a bit of space.

    • like $5 cheaper perhaps?

      • You'll have Ebays buyer protection stuff as well.

    • It gives me 533 vs 514 from Kogan directly. Maybe it changed?

I could not bring myself to have anything Kogan in my home.

    • Yep had a tv myself, and my parents had a different model tv. They are just cheap crap. There must be a few gems of products in there somewhere, but they cut costs somewhere, wether it be remote controls, buttons, frame, stand, backlight, component etc etc.

      • +1

        There are no gems.

They cut costs on literally anything possible, you will never get a quality product, you can enjoy their products if you are willing to ignore their problems.

This is just a re-banded Viotek GN34C that is a very well reviewed Ultrawide monitor with a quality Samsung VA panel. The only thing Kogan about it is the name on the bottom of the bezel.

IF you can't deal with a Kogan logo then it's your loss.

      • +1

i hope they cut cost in printing that Kogan logo… some paint strippers will hopefully wipe it off…

      • They got them from the same manufacturer, this has a different stand

      • -1

That doesn't mean a Viotek is good though…

        • +2

          Yes it does.

The Viotek GN34CB is a fantastic monitor, it has 4.2 stars out of 5 from 677 reviews on Amazon.

          • @HagglesworthMD: Its good for the price maybe.

Thats it. Even the amazon reviews show that.

            • @samfisher5986: It's fantastic for the price.

Can you link me to a monitor that is better for the same price? Or even offer a monitor that is better for under double the price?

              • -1

@HagglesworthMD: as I said its good for the price.

The AFTERSHOCK X340 is the same manufacturer most likely and sells for the same price when in stock.

HardwareUnboxed posted a review a few days ago - pretty good.

  • Will this monitor work great with a Radeon 580?

    • The monitor has Freesync so it should work good.

    • Don't expect ultra settings , only high and the more demanding games maybe set to 1080p for RX580

      • Yep. Freesync will keep the experience smooth as long as you're above 42fps.

  • has anyone compared to the Samsung, and would they get this over that?

    • -2

      It's a Samsung VA panel.

With the Samsung you pay for the name, maybe some USB ports and an adjustable stand.

  • So is FreeSync more aimed at gaming and not much use if you are just using a panel for standard office use?

    • Essentially yes, it's a feature that syncs the monitors refresh rate with the PCs graphics card, so it's more of a gaming feature. Though its refresh rate of 100hz makes using the monitor in general a smoother experience than a standard 60hz panel.

Ok thanks. I have seen some deals recently that are QHD and offering 1440P at 75hz whihc will give me better than what I get now so I may just jump on one of those when they come back up.

Unless there is a stellar deal for a monitor that runs at 100hz for a similar price……I won't hold my breath though.

        • +1

I'd say if gaming wasn't your main focus definitely go for something cheaper with lower refresh rate. This monitor is more focused for gaming with 100hz and Freesync panel.

  • Bleh, shame they don't deliver to PO boxes…

    • I don't think it would fit. Unless wherever you live they have some very big PO boxes. the screen is quite wide, and when in box with all the foam it ends up pretty darn long

      • *Post offices specifically. Just the parcel slips go to the boxes. I live in a fairly remote place so it's really the best/only place to deliver to.

Maybe though? I've had a few larger packages delivered but that was more stuff like 24" monitors so a fair size difference.

Regardless, still a shame for me.

        • +1

Ah ok, fair enough. Sucks that they won't do it.

It might, but its a pretty big size difference. The 29" version of these monitors is same height as 24" monitors so the extra 5" is all in width. this is obviously a 34" monitor so probably another 3-4" wider (not the full 5 as it is also taller). So theres at least 20cm wider, maybe a bit more with increased packaging due to its size.
