That's a lot of value in the $25 tier.

    • Incredible. You can gift some, keep some, too.

Already got Vegas Pro 14 Edit….and I've hardly done any editing in the last year. Think I'll pass on this one.

      Thanks for sharing.

  • Could also get Pro Edit 16 through the upgrade path in combination with the Humble Bundle deal for those who are wanting the latest. Might be possible to upgrade to Pro Suite for $400 too - unsure on that.

    Thanks OP!

    • I thought VEGAS PRO is different to VEGAS PRO EDIT

      • Yep it is! So since this deal gives you Pro 15 Edit, you can upgrade to Pro 16 Edit via the Upgrade path.

Then, some companies allow you to crossgrade from a lower down product. Hence why I said I'm unsure about the ability to crossgrade to Pro / Pro Suite.

If you use the "way back" machine to look at the features page from a year ago, you get to see the differences between Vegas Pro 15 and Vegas Pro Edit 15:

Way back machine - vegas pro features

Differences are (what Pro 15 has that Edit doesn't):
        * Vegas DVD Architect [for authoring DVD/Blue Ray] - But this is included in this Humble Bundle
        * NewBlueFX Filters Ultimate [video colour editing plugins]
        * HitFilm Movie Essentials [light, colour, glow effects] - But this too is included in this Humble Bundle

So, this "Edit" based bundle is effectively (except for NewBlueFX) equivalent to Vegas Pro 15

And if thinking of upgrading to version 16 here are the new features - quite a few worthwhile ones

  • Tier 2 average is now AU$30.89

  • I'm still using Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11. Time for an ugrade! Awesome deal.

Tier 3 ($25USD) converted to $37.35AUD via Paypal.

  • Can someone provide a quick summary of these products? current occasionally use paint.net, handbrake, photostage, audacity

      Just Google them.

If what you're using is working well, then no need to spend money. Personally I use the same software as you and couldn't see any need for this bundle.

Would anyone recommend Vegas over Davinci resolve? ($free, and still one of the better NLEs I've used)

    • +2

They are different. Here is my very quick and slightly dated 2 cents impression…

DaVinci Resolve is very powerful and developed by the people who make the RED cameras in Australia partly, but being node based comes with a very steep learning curve. A few years ago the main differences between the free and paid versions of Resolve were no 3D stereo editing, farm based rendering and 4K, but at the time they were really high end features. It also didn't support 3rd party plugins (like Ignite), but the paid version did all this. I think it would include 4K for free now, don't know about 3D and highly doubt the render farm and third party plugins. It does not have 3D animation built in, but DaVinci do have a separate product. I think about 12 months ago Black Magic worked really hard at improving speed of rendering and live clip scrubbing, plus I think they delivered a bunch of audio improvements.

Some of the real strengths of Vegas are that it has a great NLE timeline based editor, plus it is known to be really efficient/accelerated in rendering (but Resolve might be on par now in recent releases??), has good audio, but it also plays very well with third party plugins and round trip editing using other software (definitely Hitfilm free or paid versions, and possibly Adobe software too) for compositing and 3D animation (different to 3D stereo footage editing).

This bundle also includes a bunch of other useful stuff like the Hitfilm plugins that work in many other video editors (but probably not Resolve free version unless that has changed recently), so in my book at $38 for this entire bundle, you can't go too far wrong!

  • Thanks, bought the $25 USD bundle. Time to start learning the software.

  • Just a heads up that this deal is not expired. Good for another six days.
