This eight-LP set was originally released on CD in 2000 (as has been reissued on CD a few times since), and presents previously unreleased concert and studio recordings which span Hendrix’s four year career from 1966-1970.

Beginning with the first known recordings of the Jimi Hendrix Experience in October 1966 to his final multi-track recording session at Electric Lady Studios in August 1970, this box set concentrates on previously unreleased or commercially unavailable music.

This vinyl set contains the original 56 tracks – there is no bonus material. It comes with a large format booklet and is released on 27 October 2017.

Makes it about $13.60 per LP.

I have most of his catalogue in FLAC form. Just don't get why people have decided to revive the vinyl medium.

        • +3

well fair enough, FLAC is alright, but I think the physical medium has much more warmth and soul

@bailbondsh: Even if you think that you probably shouldn't say it

              @Lps: why not lol

            • +1

@Lps: It does have more warmth. The better the system, the more you can tell.

I personally like the sound of vinyl but if I'm honest, I'm too lazy to lazy to run my LP system.

(I'm a network/streaming service convert. Ex LP die hard).

@[Deactivated]: Fair enough, I try and take in one side of an LP at a time and i'm still relatively young - 34, I like the slow pace and the appreciating each little set of songs slowly but that's just me

              • @[Deactivated]: This is going to look good in my collection, I have the CD version of this collection but when I set up my LP system again It's a nice addition.

  • Just bought-thanks!!

Glad some have enjoyed it. I couldn't resist at this price, it's quite the collection if you ask me.

I'd be impressed if it was all original issue artwork and format but this 16 side caper's just a bit too dino music for me. I loved vinyl for the artwork as much as anything, can't really buy into this kind of repackaged product. Nice find though.

    • i grew up with digital but i find the different sides allows me to appreciate it bit by bit but that's just me.

      • I’m with you in that respect, I’m more thinking on track order and artwork.

        • +1

love the artwork, really adds to the experience, just the music and the artwork, that's all you need for a Sunday afternoon

    • hahahah so good, i know this movie but i don't remember this
