ShoeBuy.com Memorial Day Sale 20% off by Using MEMDAY Code with Order

70
MEMDAY

I expect that this sale code would expire at midnight on the 30th Boston time.
However this is not made clear on the ShoeBuy site. All they say is:-

Annual Memorial Day Sale!
20% off any purchase plus Free Shipping!
Cannot be combined with any other offer.
Applies to participating brands only.
Not valid on purchases or redemption of gift certificates.
Shoebuy reserves the right to end or change this offer at any time.
Free Shipping offer does not apply on shipments outside of the United States.
Prefer to order by phone?
Contact Shoebuy.com Customer Service toll-free at 1-888-200-8414 and mention the promo code "MEMDAY" to receive your discount.

This is my first time at this. So, please point out any mistakes I made.

EDIT: 12.30pm Monday 30th May

Sample Order Prices (prices rounded to closest dollar):
Rockport ProWalker Mens US$65 less 20% = US$52 - In Sydney's Rockport store A$220
Vans Era (the better padded ones) US$45 less 20% = US$36 - In Sydney A$99-$120

Shipping by DHL air courier for two pairs US$48, three pairs US$60, four pairs US$74. The 'sweet' spot would appear to be 3 or 4 pairs per order. At savings of 65% to 75% over AU prices it is OK to pay $18.50 to $20 a pair for delivery if the shoes are $100-$250 here.

Shipping might dull the bargain for some, but ShoeBuy sell Timberland, Rockport, etc. - Eastbay charge 25% shipping (minimum US$33) but do not sell these brands.

If you are only looking to buy 'cheap' shoes (3 pairs for -$132 after 20% discount), and EastBay sell the brand you want, you would do better to buy 3 pairs from EastBay at $33 minimum shipping. • in my view there are 2 things missing from this post

    1. are their prices any good ?

    - 20% off over priced shoes = less expensive overpriced shoes not a bargain
    - are their any particularly good shoes on sale?

    1. what are shipping rates to australia actually like

if i was doing this post i would have overcome this issue by having 2 worked through examples (one for a men's shoe and one for a womens pair)
ie give info on - normal cost on website + how much is discount + how much is shipping + how much total cost compares to a reasonable australian seller…
by doing this i think more people woud be interested in the post b/c there is a demonstrated bargain - otherwise the value of the post depends on whether i can be bothered going to their website and looking it all up for myself.

I wouldn't neg your post for leaving this out (though some might) - but i think if you wanted your post to be a great post rather than an average one, then I would include this information.
well done for asking for constructive feedback - and keep up the good work!

      Hi dr_rusko,

I have taken your suggestions and edited my post.

I mistakenly thought that those on ozbargain would know of ShoeBuy.com and that their prices were a fraction of local Australian prices (before any discount code).

I use ShoeBuy for my shoe purchases - Rockport, Timberland etc. and fill out my order with some Vans for my son. As Vans are a 'cheaper' shoe than most, if I only need Vans I order from EastBay as their shipping is less per pair if one is ordering 'cheap' shoes.

When buying from either ShoeBuy or EastBay I find the saving over AU prices (after including shipping costs) to be 50% or more without a discount code and 60% or more with a code.

  • The prices seem OK, I just gave up looking because I couldn't find out what the shipping cost was going to be without filling out a crap tonne of forms :-(

    • Hi Dexn,

Once you add your choice(s) to your cart, and enter the discount code, the shipping is shown just above the total of your order (the last line). All this is before you make a choice of payment method.

There are no forms to fill out as far as I know. Just your name and address etc. PayPal is an accepted payment method BTW.

  • $67 for 3 pairs. Couldnt be bothered trying any other quantities.

    • Hi astrotrain,

"$67 for 3 pairs. Couldnt be bothered trying any other quantities."

That is strange. I have purchased from shoebuy several times, and it has always been US$60 for three pairs (and I just checked the prices again). Were they heavy boots or something?

  • Its $30ish for one pair sent via DHL and you usually get a pretty hefty discount compared to Australian retail.

    • Hi daveaus,

Yes, at $30 air courier for just one pair it is better to order three or four pairs at a time making delivery $20 to $18.50 a pair. Especially when there is a 20% discount code available.

On my first order I was granted a further 10% discount as a new customer - However, I don't know if this deal is still applied to new customers.

The discounts on Australian retail in my case are $63 to $168 a pair, before delivery. So I can afford to add the $18 a pair delivery charge and still come out way ahead on Sydney prices.

  • Thanks for the post :)
