[eBay Plus] Hoegaarden White Beer 24x330ml $43.20 (Expired)

Tasting notes courtesy of Boozebud

Brewed with pale malt, unmalted wheat, orange peel and coriander seeds. Secondary fermentation in the bottle and keg provides a cloudy appearance. A light fruity banana aroma is complemented by the evident spice notes reminiscent of cloves and coriander. Slight vanilla and hint of smoky notes are rounded out by a refreshing citrus character. The sour sweet taste that develops during the bottle conditioning is balanced by a soft bitterness lending a slight astringent touch on the finish leaving the palate refreshed.

This bright lager is an exquisite light golden colour delivering a clean white head. Graced with a fine subtle biscuity malt palette and a well-balanced clean hop bitterness finishing with slight grassy hop aroma. Perfect for raising a glass to celebrate the great Australian summer. BEST BEFORE 23/6/2019.

    Great price.

My only recommendation is that if you haven't tried this beer before you first try a six pack. Its probably sage advice for any beer, but more so for this one which is extremely fruity, almost verging on a cider.

    • +1

Yeah agree - it's not a session beer by any imagination…

    • +3

Very good advice, this was craft beer before craft beer was craft beer. On the fruitiest end of the scale, out there with things like Stone and Wood.

      • does that mean that its similar to a pale ale?

        • +2

it's a fruity wheat beer, cloudier with more sediment and makes you burp more.

but delicious to work with. Works nicely with a slice of orange (like blue moon) or you can go Prague style and make a hoegaarden mojito (look it up) výborně !

        • Fruitier still. Think whatever the fruitiest pale ale is and go further, but with the texture of a wheat beer. Because it's a CUB product, tends to be fairly expensive at standard prices, but if you go to an independent bottleshop you might be able to find it grey imported and therefore not much more expensive than a Heineken/Becks etc

does that mean that its similar to a pale ale?

I find pale ales (such as coopers) leave the fruity notes to the end of the flavour profile… Almost an after taste.

Hoegaarden hits you with the entire fruit basket right up front.

    • +1

it has a taste of coriander to it. People either love or hate coriander.

      • +1

I hate coriander, and Hoegaarden is my favourite beer!

      • Neither love nor hate coriander but Hoegaarden was my gateway beer.

  • Great price. Never had beer delivered before, not sure I like waiting for it…

Though being sleepy, and with eBay's 1 click PayPal payment, guess I'm waiting

  • +3

    I do like a Wit.

Might even excuse the InBev ownership and pick up a case

  • Does anyone know if this is brewed under license by CUB? They've had the license for a while, would have thought they would have had a crack at some stage.

    • Belgium apparently link

  • Unfortunately Hoegaarden is only good on tap. Bottling ruins it I find.

    • i reckon that's the case with any beer! On the tap tastes so better compared to the bottle versions.

      • And tank not keg !

    • +1

I reckon part of it is that it will be colder coming out of their tap than you can get it in the beer fridge.

Ebay Plus only - pls update deal

    I'm out.

    • +1

Sorry didn't realise - have updated deal

    • Still a good deal at $48 doll hairs

    • Too much AVE? 😀

    • Pretty sure Vic has the same rules.

    • +1

Have to change your drinking habit. Very drastic rules but if it going to save lives so be it.

      • Most people that drink and drive will continue to do so even after they lose their license.

        • I believe so, but 500 more dollars out of pockets.

  • Also watch the expiry dates. The summer reserve are expiring in Mid June 2019.

    • It's in the description ;)

    • 5 cases will be consumed by then, and thats just me. ;-)

      • Does you wife do 6 cases in the same amount of time?

  • +1

Does anyone know expiry of Hoegaarden ?

  • +12

For anyone who lives near Dandenong,Melbourne. Howgaarden is $30 for 24pack since last couple of month at Duncans on foster street.

    • +1

      Is it short dated?

    • Do you reckon they would have similar prices across other Duncan stores as well? $30 is a kill for Hoegaarden case.

    • For those who are wondering what's the expiry date for this one. I just grabbed a slab from Duncans in Dandenong. It's expiry date is January 2019.
Although when I asked the guy at the store, he just told me that it was due to expire in January, and I assumed it must be 2020…lol

Anyways, I have got my favourite beer for 30 bucks. That's a great deal.

      Cheers.

  • +1

I love a good white/wheat beer, especially from Belgium or Germany. Best enjoyed in summer, in a glass with a slice of lemon. I never drink it from the bottle. Agreed with other comments, it is not for everyone - but so are stouts etc.

This would be the aussie brewed under license rubbish. Dont waste your money

    • +1

Last case i got was imported…

  • Won’t post to my address on Sunshine Coast from Brisbane. Seriously, WTF!?

    • It's coming from Melbourne

      • Posts to Australia - excludes 2/3 of Australia. Lol!

        • I asked if they ship to Brisbane because it vaguely said it doesn't ship to South East Queensland and they replied "We ship to VIC, NSW, QLD and WA metro areas."

  • +1

    Often this price at Costco

    • +3

Havent seen Hoes in Costco for quite some time now.

  • Good price for a nice beer but use by date is likely to be soon so i'd only get this offer if I knew I liked Hoegaarden - and I do!

  • Never post to QLD?

    • Not especially after Saturday.

  • Thanks OP. Just ordered 2 case of Crown. Cheaper than North by North from Aldi.

  • +1

James Squire 150 lashes slab going for $45 at liqourland for those who like it (OZB seems to like James Squire deals).

  • I don't think I have got a price like this since Aldi Liquor was doing deliveries (closed in March 2016).

  • +1

What’s with no postage to Sunshine Coast? It’s almost north Brisbane these days;)

    • Noosa Local here, feels much more like Sydney up this way 😂

  • +1

Not as good as the 20% off and the buy 3 discount they had a few months ago (about $33 a case) but still a good price. Ordered 2 cases yesterday, they just arrived this morning.. Best before 09-08-19..

    • Wow, that's a quick delivery! I'm in WA, and it's estimated up to 2 weeks for delivery 😢

  • +1

Im in SA got mine today. Exp 29 nov 19 :). And not the local crap fully imported :)

  • I ordered 3 cases, all sent under one tracking number.

    Received only 1!!!! frustrating !
