Samsung Galaxy S10e Qualcomm SD855 6GB/128GB Dual Sim $873.05 Delivered (HK) @ TobyDeals

120

The cheapest I could find a snapdragon import for and the 5% discount expires tomorrow.

Not the cheapest price for the S10e however this is a US import model which has the Snapdragon processor which is significantly superior to the Exynos counterpart which is used in every region except the USA. Has free shipping and also use Shopback for 1.5% back as well.

  • Yeah but is it worth the extra $100 lol

    • EPP Samsung store deal that was posted for the $780 S10e is out of stock and no ETA of when they will be back. If you are interested I'd do some research on snapdragon vs exynos for the S10's, as the difference is surprisingly quite large all around.

Only if you game perhaps. Otherwise no issue

        • +2

Battery life also for regular usage

          • @spoonfed: The April update improved Exynos battery life.

            • @aja12: Yeah I heard about that, from what I've heard snapdragon still has the edge in that regard, good to see they are making improvements though.

          • @spoonfed: After April update I went from 3 hrs sot time to 5. Most comparisons after update show Exynos with better battery life. Camera speed and quality also made a jump. I don't think there's any issues now unless you game a lot.

This is for the regular S10 but it should still be relevant for the S1Oe and I believe is conducted after the april update. Still reports of poor battery life from many users on the Exynos version of the phone. Camera speed and quality did improve with the April update for Exynos to bring it more in line with the Snapdragon as well.

@spoonfed: Given so many people are having issues with battery life on Snapdragon too, I don't think it's as black and white as you are making it.

                • @onlinepred: Yeah the way I worded it sounds really pretentious looking back, my bad. There is never going to be a perfect phone unfortunately, so just figured I'd share what I've learned to others who are interested in the S10e so they can decide for themselves. Both processors I'm sure have their own pros and cons, and no matter what should still allow for an enjoyable experience

                  • @spoonfed: For sure. If you are concerned about updates, then you should also go exynos as they get updates quicker for some reason. And just an FYI, according to the test video you sent, the pixel 2xl should last longer than the S10, but in my experience coming from pixel 2xl, after the April update, the s10e lasts longer than my pixel 2xl did. So it could be that the video you referenced is only relevant if you run tests like that all day I guess, and of course no mention about April update on the video which is an important factor. Checkout Reddit for more real life experiences. An example, most us carriers have not released night mode updates or April update. While the Aus exynos got it straight away. May update just got released and it's on Exynos first.

              • @spoonfed: Where is it mentioned that the Exynos variant has the April update?

                • @aja12: So far exynos has received updates before Snapdragon. Check out sammmobile for exact dates

                  • @onlinepred: Yeah as Exynos is Samsung's own chip they tend to get updates faster. Isn't really a concern for myself but I can understand why it could be for some people. I've looked at a lot of reddit and Samsung forums threads and the majority consensus seems to be favourable towards the snapdragon, but for the ordinary user I think either is perfectly fine

                  • @onlinepred: Yeah sorry, I meant where in that video comparison than spoonfed posted was it mentioned that the Exynos variant had been updated with the April.

A lot of money to spend on a grey import

    • all comes down to personal preference I suppose

    • A lot of people seem happy to drop $1200 on a OnePlus 7, so this isn't that bad.

    Processor in title

    • Changed it hopefully is fine now

    Presumably no Samsung pay(?)

    • Possibly, some imported models apparently are compatible whilst others aren't. Google pay is a solid substitute regardless imo

    • Use Google pay - if your bank supports it, it's more user friendly than Samsung pay. Sure Samsung has MST, but I've had no issues.

      • How do you use it from the lockscreen though?

        • +1

Just unlock with your fingerprint and tap. Nothing else to do.

          • @jesseboy89: I just get my phone and tap though. Pixel was lock screen tap, so is S10. But with Google pay on S10 I have to unlock which is more inconvenient. It's why I am using Samsung Pay on my S10, it's much more convenient and easier to use. Also while road-tripping, I came across a bunch of stores that didn't have tap and pay.

Bought one! I've had my eye on this for a while.

    • Just got it, in case anyone's checking this later! No problems with customs and the box was sealed. Processing took 3 working days and delivery took 4.
