I’ve got this. I found it funny how the two containers in the middle of the set have 20x the same Phillips head driver. Cause you are basically going to chew threw them due to the quality.

I wish premium brands like dewalt would have a cheaper brand name to offer products like this through (e.g. DEWALT LITE, or DEWALT EXPRESS).

    • I wish premium brands like dewalt would have a cheaper brand name to offer products like this

Agreed. Surely it damages the premium image of the brand to sell lesser quality products, and they would do better to distinguish.

      • +2

basically they are cashing in on the brand at the moment.

    • +5

Aren't those 20x bits for impact drivers? I think they may not be reflective of the quality of the bit but rather the nature of impact driving itself.

      • +6

Yeap. Those same drivers come in standard multi packs from plenty of brands.

      • -1

I don't follow your logic. If they are meant for impact drivers shouldn't they be built to withstand impact driving?

        • To a certain extent they are built for those jobs. Impact driving wears the bits down. It's unavoidable.

        • That's like arguing that car tyres should never need replacing because they're designed to go on cars. Some stuff just wears down.

    • +4

Even high quality bits fail regular, especially during construction use… that's why they're normally sold in bulk.

    • +7

Those bits are considered consumables in the trade. Even the very best quality PH2 bits would only screw about 500 screws in an impact driver. (Obviously depends on a lot of factors like what you are screwing into ect)

Whilst I can't speak for the quality of this kit, I think it is a bit unfair to assume it is rubbish because of this.

      • -2

Certain brand ARE rubbish, one screw and they are done.

Not sure where you got the number 500 from.

But can say Hilti bit drive about 300 screws into 3 x 1.5mm steel, and bit will break (before worn out).
And 2000+ screws into 2x 0.55-0.75mm steel and will keep going.

      • This is good to know, cheers.

    • +2

Cause you are basically going to chew threw them due to the quality.

I have this kit too, and they're actually not bad. They're not as good as say the irwin drivers, but that's why you get a multi-pack - because they all wear out in time.

In comparison, the ryobi bits aren't quite as good, and don't even bother with the craftright ones, they're softer than the screws you're driving.

Any idea if there are wood and masonry drill bits in there?

    • +1

look at the picture, there are masonry and normal drill bits

    • looks like masonry and regular drills bits on the left, hole saw with different sizes on the bottom right.

    • +1

Masonry & HSS black metal drill bits

    • er 2 negs for stating what drill bits are in the box….

  • +1

Are they on par to their tools, in terms of quality?

    • +9

      no, not even close.

  • +1

It's either out of stock or unavailable in all the stores in Adelaide.

    What about a DIY pessimist?

    • +2

Should last the pessimists a VERY long time.

What people plus vote on seems to say alot about them, in this case it's SOFT.

Any suggestions for a better buy it for life kit? Dont mind spending a bit more. Just for odd jobs around the home.

    • This is fine for odd diy jobs. Unless you're regularly planning on drilling metal

    • +1

Irwin, Hilti and Malwaukee bit are the best i have used.
They will still worn out, but last many many times than other brand.

I have not used Bosch and Makita bits yet, since the company I work for dont buy them.
But from YouTube reviews, they are on par with the three brand I have mentioned.

      • I'm pretty sure it was Irwin bits that failed on me last year on the first drill into timber studs, Bunnings ended up trying to sell those bits at discount across the country.

    • Grab some Does Ut All Drull Buts the next time you stock up on Thin Lizzy Cosmetucs.

    • Just to add it's not just the quality of the set but sometimes kits don't have that key or two pieces.
Like from the pic, the regular bits only go up to 7, but every now and again I've had to go larger (in my case my freebie Ryobi set jumps from 7 to a 13 spade :P).
One time almost bought an AEG driving kit, only to spot at the last minute it didn't have a flat head bit!

I've resorted to buying mini kits as my freebie Ryobi set goes, as I couldn't really find a decent "DIY set for life". So far just masonry bits I've had to replace for now.

  • Any user experience/thoughts on Wera bits?

    Amazon UK link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wera-Bit-Check-Impaktor-TriTorsion-…

    Manufactures link: https://www-de.wera.de/en/great-tools/bit-check/

Reviews are more on the positive side in comparison to other bits like Bosch, Dewalt, Milwaukee etc. Although, they are quite expensive I'm considering as my parents are travelling to Europe this year.

    • I'm personally not a fan of impact bits that use an interchangeable bit holder. If the holder decides to break you're basically left with a set of bits you can't use unless you order a replacement holder.

I find the holders do break as there is inevitably more play between the holder and the bit than there is in a solid design hex bit. When using an impact driver, that play creates another point where there's impact rattle and is a weak point in the design.

  • Can this fit with all other driller? I have an Ozito X driller.

    • +1

Yes, they are universal and will fit any drill or driver.

  • Does anyone know if those nut/socket drivers are magnetic?

  • +1

I would rather chew the bit over striping the head, But square head is so much better than phillips

    • Except the range of screws with square head/decking type is very limited…

  • Do you have a line/product number?

  • Can't seem to find on the Bunnings website

  • +1

Bunnings have taken it off their website, but some store stock still exists. Just bought 1 from Cannington, 6107. They had another one left on the markdown trolley out the front of tools.

    • do you have a line or product number

  • I picked one up tonite at Bunnings Frankston (Vic). There were in aisle 8, and probably had ~ 25 left.

I asked at the tool desk and showed a photo. She searched her POS terminal for "Dewalt 100", found the code, then went to her handheld thingy, typed that in and told me they should have stock and pointed exactly where to look. She said they are promo items, so are taken off the web site quickly.
