IKEA Laptop Support $9.99

70

I was answering a post about a logitech laptop stand from DS and I figured I might as well make a submission.

It's quite cheap. I just can't confirm if its a special price or a regular priced item. The quality was quite decent.

From the blurb:

Key features

  • Flat surface; improves ventilation around your laptop.
  • Retaining edge keeps laptop in place.
  • Rubber strip prevents the laptop support from sliding on your lap.

Wish the massive Ikea on Westall Rd and Dandenong Rd was open.

  • This is the regular price as I recall.
Honestly its just a piece of plastic. not comfy at all to put on your lap.

  • REGULAR PRICE!

    No special. No discount.

  • yep…. looks like regular price….
and I reckon that http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/60176063 for $10 more is a better support

    But thanks for posting anyways…..

Although it might not be discounted it seems like a bargain to me considering the other commercial options are much more expensive. Goes to show that the definition of a bargain is quite nebulous.

Mate there's no way I'm going thru the 2hr Maze at Ikea just to buy this $10 laptop stand. I'd sooner pay double at office works.

Oh man this is sooooo true. Though….I've always wanted to play laser tag in a giant ass IKEA store…think they would mind? Who's up for a game?

Better yet; a game of paintball!

Or make use of those nerf guns that people on ozbargain have bought over last year!

All Ikea stores have short ways of getting through the store however they are usually not very obvious.

I got one from Coles recently for $8 or so (cannot link to it, sorry).

It is a flat painted MDF Board with a bean bag underneath. Only problem is that it's too big for a Netbook.

There was a similar one at Officeworks recently, but of course I cannot find it on the site!

Anyway, my post is just to advise that there are useful comfortable generic ones out there

I bought this from ikea about 6 months ago when it was $5.99 for ikea family members. It's just a piece of plastic, but it does raise your laptop off your desk/lap enough to get some cooling. Right now my wife's laptop is on it, it raises the keyboard to a better angle than having it flat on the desk, plus raises the screen to a more ergonomic position too. Fine for a desk, but not recommended for your lap because the rear support is quite pointy - better with a soft/padded laptop base if you want to put it on your lap.

    • well said.

  • What about using a Maccas meal tray to support your laptop in bed?

I just posted this as a reply to an offer from DS. :p I reckoned it was cheap compared to some other laptop stands I've seen.

Yep, it is just a piece of plastic. Not exactly my thing either, but I guess different strokes for different folks.

As an aside, I've actually managed to get through Ikea relatively quickly… ONCE. It was a weekday. And they just opened in the morning. LOL.

    +1 on the LaserTag idea.
